Forums Closed
|
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Dream Realized- report complete-4/1 no april fools
Wel this day also has the subtitle- Holey Moley at the Pixie Dust
The day started with the car loaded and us on our way by 8 ish- a little disappointment that I had forgot the cell phone on charge but that was soon forgot. We dropped the three little kittens and thier mittens (after watching the weather report) off at the Kitty Condo boarding house..and we were off. We both had a dream state feeling to be heading back to the World so soon, and were anticipating a much more magical time for us both-together. We stopped outside Kissimee at a Walgreens to pick up a new battery for my camera- and then next stop...AKL. My husband had never seen this place and I had only seen it in person at night...so we were both excited to drive up and get a glimpse during the day..WOW..our word for the day. We were at checkin by 12:30 ish-Having faxed my room request and only haveing booked a standard view- imagine my excitement when I found we had been upgraded to a Savannah view on 3rd floor Kudu Trail non the less not very far from the lobby..There are no words to express our amazemnt as we entered the room to the view..WOW again..We kept pinching our selve to assure us we were living the magic . By 1 we were unpacked and down to Mara for some sugar Cane chicken..mmmm. then back up to the room to make sure IT was still there and we were too. Off to the Magic Kingdom- Had to see the castle again..to confirm it was all real!! We walked in about 10 till parade start time so decided to just stay put- We had not seen the Share a dream parade so were excited to have timed it just right Total Serendipity on that one. I was standing right there on an outside curve so the pictures are wonderful the sun is behnd me..adn the sky is bluer that blue. We moseyed on down main street, heading to Buzz- about a five minute wait. Picked up FP for Peter Pan- Rode Small World-saw my favortie sign at the end on the left...Say Whatde Krap.. dont know what language that is for Good bye but I always smile..adn repeat it during the day if something isnt going so magical!! We misse3d the Tiki Birds in Dec so they were next on our agenda...Even got to see the preshow...Love the show..old and new. There was time even left before FP to ride Alladins Carpets..only 5 minute wait. We loved it ..even the camel spit. We took our time getting back to Peter Pan .not having done the ride in a few years- we enjoyed it.. I love the part when you go thru the boat on both sides of the sail. WE decided we might like to sit a bit so went to our favortie Rocking Chairs..I checked the schedule for the River Boat and we caught the last one...what perfect timeing as the sun was setting- we rounded the bend to the dock at 6:30 and scouted for a bench to sit for our much anticipated viewing of Spectro...Found one tucked up beside Diamond Horseshoe..only problem was Ohio Fan was sitting on it.. Proud that husband didnt get into discussion about how Georgia was robbed of that one..Oh SAY WHATDE Krap...IT was a fine spot as you could see them turning the corner near Liberty Tree and the family at the rope all behaved and stayed seated so that I could get unobstructed photos...Gonna pick that roll up today... I have only got good shots of this once...so hoping for some more magic when I pick them up today. We wondered our way to behind the castle- I was trying to time it so that i would be on Dumbo when the fireworks went off....oh well SAY WHAT DEKRAP...I was 30 second off but we had a great view anyway. AS we became part of the exiting herd we zagged to the left for Resort Monorail..got there just as one left..tucked in at closest gate to catch the next one..and what to my wandering eye should appear but a Passporter Pin and Moley in Gear...I chimed out to her..Moley its ME..MYpasttime...WE chatted all the way from the Main STReet Station to Contemp....said our farethewells..adn were off again...Okay what are the ODDS???MAgical Moment times 2.. On to the TTC for the Epcot monorail- just wanting to catch Illuminations.. WE had a moment or two for Some flights of Imagination so off to see what Figment is up too.. Much improved but still like the old one better...the original I mean.. WAtched most of Illuminations but got ahead of the herd to exit...Then Back to AKL for some Supper we were getting hungry.. MAra here we come I had Sugar Cane Chicken and husband had 1/2 chicken...Mickey Bars and !00 Year s for Dessert..then back to the room...was it all a dream nope..still there...WOW the lobby.. Wow the view from the balcony. Wow the Kingsize carved HEad Board.... WOW WHAT a DAY filled with magic....I was so wowed forgot the wake up call...Did I tell you I loved the AKL....WOW It took us two whole days to come out of the time warp feeling from returnig so soon and being someplace so special!!!You cant beat a Savannah view near the lobby for 109 plus tax.. WOW IF I hadnt lived it..I would have thought that is one too good to be true.Oh yeah Did I tell you there was an autographed picture of Mickey waiting for us in his Safari GEar... Welcoming Charles BAck?? Wow... ITs gonna be hard to top this day
Till next I post,
PEG

Re: Dream Realized- report complete-4/1 no april fools
Hi Peg!
It was meant to be that we would meet so we could share some of our magical moments in passing. You know I love it that you got that fantastic upgrade and for the rate you were paying, super-fantastic!! That sugar cane chicken sure sounds like a winner, too.
LOL at the exit goodbye in Small World. I've wondered about a few of them, too. I'm so pleased this is starting out so well. You deserved these many wonderful surprises after your trip was cut short before. Looking forward to hearing more. Great report.

Say What Dekrap! How funny! I'm definitely looking for that one on my next trip.
Your delight with AKL is making my decision making more and more difficult... but I love it. Can't wait to read more.

Really enjoyed your first day report. What an awesome upgrade. Some nice extra magic to make up for the way the last trip ended.

P.S. A quick google search turned up the following on your favorite saying.

Re: Dream Realized- report complete-4/1 no april fools
Peg,
You should be able to open a reply box, then open your Word document, highlight the text you want to put in the reply box, right click and select "copy." Then put your cursor in the reply box, right click and select "paste." Hopefully this will work for you - let me know if you need additional help.
Sandy
