As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I have read that it is cheaper to fly on Saturday vs Sunday, but I thought I would ask the experts that do more research on flying than any group I know
We would be flying over the holidays - weekend before NYE, and I haven't seen any difference in pricing, so are all bets off during the holidays?

Good to know. We are in Chicago area so we are lucky to be able to fly out of Milwaukee, OHare or Midway. I check all 3 and hope for Milwaukee. So an easy and stress free airport to fly out of!
For our recent trip to Disney, my Sunday, very first flight of the day to Orlando was cheaper than my mid-day Saturday, one of only three non stop flights home from Orlando. If you don't have problems with multiple stops, I've noticed those were cheaper too.

It's hard to get up that early, but I like those first flights of the day - airport is less busy and you get to Disney with the whole day ahead of you!
My DH gets stressed out just getting us all to the airport on time and he worries about issues with the flight. I could not introduce a connection in the plans, the poor guy would be a bundle of nerves.
Traditionally it is cheaper to fly on Saturday than Sunday. However, I really do think that where you are flying from and flying to play a large part in this.
When we planned our Boston trip for last summer, we were going to fly home on a Friday. However the flight from Boston to Denver on a Friday were $200/person more. It was way cheaper to book an extra night and then fly on Saturday. When we went to Santa Rosa in July it was cheaper to fly home on Saturday than Sunday from San Fran. We did decide to just stay in San Fran a few extra days as we'd never been there.
I noticed last October as I was checking flights to Disney, it was cheaper to fly during the week, especially through American Airlines. SWA was a tad more, but the times did not work for me.
I know you were asking for a Saturday or Sunday. Just my 2 cents.
And when I bought my round trip ticket through American Airlines I went to their direct website. Try that and see if you can get a lesser flight amount.

I'm not sure if you've been up toward Milwaukee lately but the interstate is all under construction up there. Be sure that you allow extra driving time to get to that airport if you fly out from there.
Typically Saturdays (or Tuesday/Wednesdays) are less expensive but I agree the fact that it is the holidays likely throws all deals to be had out the window. Especially around here where they will likely fill those seats regardless.
Flight pricing used to be geared toward the business traveler who would travel for work, since the business typically paid for the flights, those travel days tended to be more expensive. Sundays and Mondays were the flying days to get to a business trip location and Thursdays and Fridays were typically the days business travelers would return home. Leaving Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturdays for deals.
