Is anyone hearing when Summer 2017 Itineraries will be released ? - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Last year it was the very end of March. Considering that Disney has a current reduced deposit off for 7-night sailings that ends March 27, my guess is it will be March 28 at the earliest.

Let's start with crew/cast rumors. Only a small portion of those turn out to be accurate. There's a difference between the company studying a possibility and actually committing to it. Recently, cruisers reported that Commodore Tom (who is about as "inside" as insiders can get) suggested one of the new DCL ships (which had not been announced, by the way) may be based in Asia. There is a huge difference between "may be" and "will be." I have a feeling the Commodore's actual words were a bit more vague... Someone may have asked, "Will there be new ships, and where will they cruise from?" (a pretty common question at those onboard Q&A sessions). The answer might have been something like, "The cruise line is always looking into new possibilities. If we build new ships, one might be based in Asia." Even though he undoubtedly knew that there would be new ships, he'd know better than to predict, five to seven years in advance, that the business climate would be ripe for a particular destination. He'd remember all to well that DCL "permanently" positioned the Wonder on the West Coast, only to change course a year later because of the violent conditions in Mexico.
Sometimes good detective work finds a DCL ship scheduled to visit a port (via that port's web site, for example) before DCL's announcement. With hundreds of ports of call in the world, that's a lot of detective work. And when people do turn up such things and publicly discuss them on the internet... poof, those listings magically go away. And some of the time, DCL's final schedule does not include those ports, or they end up visiting the port on different dates.
A few times, a politician or government official will publicly boast or hint of an upcoming DCL presence. Often, those claims don't come to pass - perhaps they were based on preliminary discussions with the cruise line that later fell through. Perhaps it's just a politician looking for attention.
One way or the other, Disney (like many companies), treasures secrecy. They want to control what the public and the competition knows, and when. Violating that secrecy can potentially lead to cancellation of the deal.
So, the only way to know for certain is to wait for Disney's announcement.

I am impatiently waiting for DCL to announce itineraries for summer 2017 as well. I only hope it'll happen before we leave for our vacation in mid-April. We need to look at prices and stateroom categories in order to know what we want by the time the booking window opens (Sara, I know you're on top of things )
Thanks everyone! Guess we will all just have to hold our breath and wait and see what DCL will do for the Summer, Fall and Winter schedules of 2017! I hope there will be some new ports of call too. We'll see!
My guess would be with the exception of any special cruise the schedule will probably be the same as this year's with the Magic going to Europe and the Wonder to Alaska, most likely out of Vancouver.

While I tend to agree, there's one wildcard here. The Panama Canal's new locks will be open by then, so there's a chance the Dream or Fantasy may go to Alaska rather than the Wonder (most likely, Fantasy out of that pair). Alaska itineraries are very popular, so there's little doubt the cruise line could sell the extra staterooms. And all the ports on the itinerary have been upgraded to handle the larger ships.

I don't think the Dream or Fantasy are not likely to go through the Panama Canal anytime soon regardless if the new locks are open and probably not to Alaska if they do. One the Wonder has been outfitted for it also the Fantasy man be to big to go a good distance into tracy arm like the wonder does.

I heard it from a DCL employee on the reservation line 3-4 weeks as of yesterday! I can't wait. We are hoping to book a trans-canal cruise. I have a placeholder reservation too.
