As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Jaclyn, Brett and "the boys" gave me a 2015 "Vacation Memories" (Cinderella's Castle) signed Larry Dotson print............and........
all the "kids" gave me a 40" flat screen TV.....Michael is coming today to wall mount it.............so hard to choose the favorite between those 2 gifts.
My favorite gift given was to DGS Luke...........I gave him the Contemporary Resort monorail play set to add to his "new monorail" that Santa brought. He was beyond thrilled to have his own.
My favorite gift was my Vera Bradley purse with Mickeys on it.
My favorite gift I gave was a trip to Disney with my dad this summer. But there is a surprise element he has no clue about that I got arranged yesterday. That is what I am most excited about!

Favorite received:
Sure, you can get this brand at walmart, but mine came from the "Fly-n-By" shop across from Soarin' over Cal. I hinted heavily when we were there, and good old mom came through.
Favorite received= a gift certificate from my dh for a massage & facial.
Favorite given= There was a picture taken at an anniversary party of me and my three brothers. I had it enlarged and framed as a gift for my mom. She loved it.
Other than checks from my parents and DH's parents, the only actual gift I received was from DS and DDIL which is soooo cute! It's a case for my cell phone with the our 3 granddaughter's on it. Love it! I loved seeing the girls open their gifts but I think my favorite gift that I gave this year was the cash tip I gave the woman that pumped my gas for me (it's the only gas station around here that still pumps your gas for you) a couple days before Christmas. She was so surprised and it truly made me feel good to give it to her.

Favorite given: For the first time in our married life, I gave DH a couple of gifts that he didn't know I was getting, and he liked! One was a string art kit of a skull and cross-bones (he's a huge pirate fiend), the other a pair of jeans that are 3 sizes smaller than the ones he wears! And they fit!
Favorite received: there are so many that the girls gave me that were thoughtful. I have to go with one from each of them; DD Lauren gave me a set of stuffed flu bug and cold virus (in response to my complaint that my co-workers cough and hack and sneeze constantly - they also do other things that are gross, but I'll leave that). DD Kathryn gave me some characters from a traditional French nativity. The nativity scenes are traditionally full of not only the normal nativity, but also the people from the village - including what Kathryn got us, Santa, the Whipping Man (the man who follows Santa and punishes the bad children), and the nurse.
Also - DH gave me some jeans and a shirt that are 2 sizes smaller than I have worn for the last 5 years! Yes, we are slowly losing some of our Pooh-ness.
This was the first year JB was interested in Santa or his gifts so that made it extra fun. He asked for a "little" Lambie from Doc Mcstuffins, hot wheels & the new smart wheels RC track. He cried christmas morning when he didn't see his stocking as he thought santa had not come. He was so excited to see his Lambie. After church he got his gifts & it took about 7 minutes before he spied his big RC track set at which point he turned the couch into a trampoline as he jumped for joy, literally! So getting Santa to give his requested gifts were the highlight & he loved his walking roaring t-rex too.
Honestly I helped pick out all my gifts so no thrills there but I did like the fuschia sweater & matching undergarments that Darren bought me.
This was a year of gift cards. No one needs anything and we usually buy everything we want (within reason). Since we are making the big move to Florida in 2016 we didn't need extra things to move. My gift cards were for my favorite online quilting store so I can buy supplies for my new hobby and of course Disney. I gave gift cards for places to eat. One size fits all there.

My favorite gift was the Doctor Who Lego set I desperately wanted. At first I didn't think I had received it, but my mom pulled one over on me and had hid it behind the tree where I didn't see it.
I don't have one favorite gift I gave. I was pretty happy with all the gifts I bought everyone this year.
Favorite gift I received : a new sewing machine My old one is over 40 years old.
I don't have a favorite one that I gave as my daughter and husband got new tires from me for Christmas.
Liz
What was your favorite gift that you received? The best gift I received was the news that my sister is pregnant... meaning that it's my first niece/nephew (6 from my hubby's side but none from my side yet). Second best was my Pandora bracelet with a Disney charm I got from my hubby & kids
What was your favorite gift that you gave? The iPod touch we gave our middle son, as he was not expecting it at all. I had told him it wasn't an option so he wrote it off. He was very surprised when he opened it.
My favourite gift I got was a twilight for two spa package for the Thermae Bath Spa, which Mark and I are going to really enjoy.
I don't know about the favourite gift I gave, as there are a couple I didn't get to see people's reactions from, and to me, that's part of the joy of giving gifts. I only gave Mark small gifts for Christmas, as he had a big present for his 50th birthday, which I kind of counted as Christmas too - a week's holiday in Iceland.
