As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I love hearing what other people are making for their holiday feasts. We are hosting Christmas Day so I will start!
- Turkey
- Mashed Potatoes
- Stuffing (Two kinds - one plain and one with celery, onions, and mushrooms)
- Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts
- Creamed Corn
- Cranberry Sauce (Two kinds - one smooth and one chunky)
- Rolls
- Gravy
- Chocolate Cream Pie, Petit Fours, and Christmas Cookies for Dessert!
Then for NYE I make an assortment of appetizers to munch on all night long. And New Years Day we do Prime Rib (or as I call it - Roast Beast!).
Well, now I'm hungry... and I had better start cooking!
I picked up our ham yesterday.
With it, we'll have roasted sweet potatoes and acorn squash with ginger; green beans and pecans; some kind of potato dish as yet to be decided.
For dessert - the best part! Palo's chocolate souffle with vanilla bean sauce!
And, I think I'll make homemade cinnamon rolls when we get home from mass tonight, so they'll be ready to pop in the oven in the morning to eat while opening gifts.
Christmas Eve is when our extended family gets together. There will be 28 this year including the first baby in the family in 15 years !!
We start with homemade mushroom soup, then smoked whitefish followed by pierogi, pierogi and more pierogi.
Dessert is Christmas cookies and kolachi filled with apricots and walnuts.
While I'm not as lucky as Dot to be in Disney for Christmas (although I don't mind not being there) I am lucky in the respect dinner tomorrow will be at the in laws and I don't have to do a thing other than show up. I don't even need to provide anything for a change.
For tonight, it's appetizer type stuff - chips, dip, pigs in blankets, shrimp, etc - nothing too complicated. Everything will be eaten off throw away dishes so clean up will be easy too.

We're having turkey along with the usual gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, homemade cranberrie sauce, ambrosia and other veggies.
I'm still trying to talk myself into making a pumpkin pie or two when I get off work today.
For New Year's we always make homemade lasagna for New Year's eve dinner and stuffed cabbage rolls, sauerkraut and kielbasa for New Year's Day dinner. Add a side of black-eyed peas for luck. (Southern tradition. lol)

Tonight we have the feast of seven fish, not me cooking, our dear sweet sisters mil cooks it every year. And then to my sister's on Christmas day for roast beef and all the fixings, I'm in charge of rolls. They don't trust me to cook, they're right.
We had Christmas w/boyfriend's family this afternoon at noon - we had lasagna, various salads, garlic bread, and various pies.
Tonight it is just me and boyfriend at home so we are doing meat, cheese, crackers and chips/dip.
Tomorrow is just me and boyfriend at home all day - I don't plan on getting out of my pjs. Depending on what time we get up we'll either have breakfast or brunch - which will be biscuits w/pork and bacon sausage gravy. Then for supper we are making a Shepard's pie.
Saturday night we will go to my mom's for Christmas w/her. We are having chips/salsa, super nachos, and I am making an oreo and chocolate pudding dessert as well as an apple crisp pizza for dessert.
Apps: cheese ball, shrimp cocktail
Dinner: Roast Beef, mashed potatoes, snowflake rolls, roasted cauliflower and broccoli, corn.
Dessert: Apple pie (yuck -sorry, I dislike it) or salted caramel cheesecake (from the Cheesecake Factory), and probably something from Munson's . Sara, I know you'll know Munson's but for non-CT Passporters, it's a local chocolate factory. Both DSis and I worked there as teens. I'm betting there will be some turtles (pecan caramel patties) as they are our favorite
