As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh boy! I will try not to be too wordy but I am a little nervous!
Muffin and I are avid cruisers and although we love all things Disney land based, we are RCCL loyalists and have only ever been on the Dream for three nights in 2011. We had a wonderful time, but I am worried about a few things:
Do other people travel with no kids on this ship?
Will there be enough to do for a week?
Are there evening activities for adults?
Besides the Pirate party are there any other deck parties in the evening?
Are the evening shows different then what was on the Dream?
When we went on the Dream, we LOVED the food and the rotating restaurants ROCKED!! The shows were terrific! I am more worried that my newly converted Disney husband will want to jump overboard. I will be be fine. We are presently booked on the Fantasy from 11/28-12/5 with a four night stay at AKL following the cruise.
Our alternative to this would be a four night stay at AKL from December 1-5 followed by a Freedom of the seas cruise. I really don't know what to do!
My (adult) sister and I did a 7 night Fantasy cruise in November; no kids. WE LOVED IT !
Yes, there are other people with no kids on the ship.
There are plenty of activities, as well as ways to just relax. One of my favourites is to read or just relax on a lounger on deck 4.
There are a variety of adult activities. if you check out past Navigators for similar itineraries to yours you can see what is typically on offer (see Personal Navigators ? The Disney Cruise Line Blog for a good source of previous navigators).
There is the Sail Away party but that is not technically evening. I don't remember if there is another, sorry; we are not really into the deck parties.
There are some evening shows that are very similar; and there are additional evening shows. And there is a movie night.
Also, did you know you can watch the shows on the TV in your room ? And they broadcast them at multiple times. Great for watching while being comfy in PJs :-)
Our first cruise was a 4 night Dream. We thought it was too short :-) So we did the 7 night Fantasy. Now we are booked for a back-2-back (i.e. 2 consecutive cruises) in December 2015: 3 night Dream then a 4 night Dream :-) We really like DCL, and there are no kids involved !
One thing I really liked on the Fantasy was the Rainforest Room pass. We bought a "couples" pass for the entire cruise. Absolutely loved it, most especially the heated loungers. We plan to get similar passes for our December cruises.

I have only cruised without kids and have NEVER been bored. I did a 15-night cruise with DCL with lots of sea days and still there were things I didn't have time to do. You'll find lots of other adults-only cruisers. My favorite hang-out is the Cove Cafe. Be sure to get a loyalty card there. Every 5th or 6th (??) coffee drink is free. There's no casino, of course, but there is Bingo, and Disney makes it lots of fun. Tastings, classes, spa, movies, shows.... it's all wonderful!
You'll be absolutely fine. We cruise with no kids and loved our cruise on the Fantasy in December 2012 for my 40th.
On our table, we had four other adults - one were a young teenage couple and the other were a mother and son, so there are plenty of people with no kids on board. There'll be plenty to do for a week - in fact, you'll probably find there's so much to do, you don't have time to do it all, just like at WDW. There are the shore excursion days and on the at sea days, we'd spend time in the Rainforest Room in the spa, we had brunch at both Palo and Remy, we'd go and enjoy various adult activities, like tastings (alcoholic ) and tours of the ship.
There are activities in the evening for adults, but we found that generally they started around 10:00pm, which was the only thing that didn't work so well for us, as we're usually heading to bed at that time.
I can't remember any other deck parties apart from the pirate one, but it may be my memory failing me on that one. The evening shows are different - they do a version of the Aladdin show from Disneyland for starters and there are others that again I can't remember.
There are "cooking classes" where a chef shows how to make a dish. It may be an entree or a dessert. There are several of these throughout the week. They are free. At the end of the class they hand out samples to try. And they give the recipe. I remember an apple dessert and a lobster dish, and I know there was at least one other. Each session lasts I think about an hour.
There are a couple different ship tours. I HIGHLY recommend the "Art of the Ship" tour. I think it is adult-only. Fascinating. Will give you a whole new appreciation for the ship. Lasted a good 90 minutes. There were multiple sessions of it, which was good because we were really disappointed when we didn't manage to make the session on the first day.
We don't drink so did not participate in them, but there are a number of adult only alcohol-related events, Mixology and tastings and such. And there is the whole adult night zone.
We went to character greetings, both together and alone. We were on a Very Merry Christmas decoration and events cruise (in November). I went and visited with Santa. There are even photos.
We did Aquaduck (the waterslide) a few times with no wait. At Caastaway Cay we snorkeled, biked, and my sister did Pelican Plunge (water slides).
One thing we really liked and found very helpful on the Fantasy is that the updated DCL app for the iPhone and Android devices (we had an Android tablet, too) let one see a virtual Navigator for the entire cruise. So we could see events, from character greetings to ship tours to all kinds of other events, for the entire cruise, allowing us to plan ahead. This came in very hand. It let us plan the Art of the Ship tour that we missed the first day, and figure out how to strategize character meets. We also discovered that it would get updated throughout the cruise, with things like new character meets added, so we would check it often. It also has maps on it and other features, like the ability to send a "text message" (using DCL's internal wi-fi network, for free) to others on the cruise (who give you permission), so we used it to stay in touch with each other. VERY USEFUL.
Regarding the shows - the three stage shows are Aladdin (as already noted), Wishes, and Disney's Believe.
Of the three, I really liked Aladdin, followed by Wishes. My favorite segment involves Pinocchio (won't say more so I don't spoil anything).
I go solo, but have taken my Mom (and taking her again), and was never bored. Loved everything going on for the adults, and certainly enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub.
You'll have a great time!
