As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I ask, as I've been sorting through mine, ready to start on the WDW/Fantasy/Disneyland trip (that's going to take a long time! ) and I was shocked at how much 12 x 12 background paper I've got. I'm not counting the basic colour paper, which I used for mounting my photos, just the Disney paper, the Christmas paper and the miscellaneous paper.
I haven't counted, but I honestly think 500 sheets wouldn't be an over-estimate. I really cannot believe how much I've got. Am I the only one?
I'm afraid to even attempt to count my papers! I have a large tote full of plain card stock. And I have half a wall filled with patterned papers. My mother taught me that when something you might need to use in the future is on sale, you should buy it because it will save you money in the long run. I have applied that way too well to my scrapbooking supplies, including the papers! As a conservative estimate, I would guess that I have in the neighborhood of a thousand pieces.
I have resolved to NOT buy any more papers until I can begin to see the bottom of at least one stack of the ones I have! This resolve is being helped out by the fact that the two stores I spent most of my money at have closed within the last 6 months, so the temptation is not there as much.

I have so much I can't even (or dare not to?) count it. Not even counting my big 12x12x6-ish size tote full of solid color paper and 12x12x2 tote full of just black and white papers . . .
---- I have half of a bottom bookshelf shelf covered with 12x12 DCWV paper "stacks" (just counted 16 stacks)
---- I have 5 or 6 of the 8x8 DCWV stacks next to that
---- There are at least 20 smaller pads of paper filed next to the above listed between the shelf and the wall.
---- I have a small plastic drawer set with 12x14x3 inch drawers where I keep my Disney paper . . . Disneyland and WDW each have separate drawers (different stickers, die cuts, etc) and then I have a "general Disney" drawer.
---- The other 3 drawers in the set are labeled "Family" (paper for the kids' scrapbooks, etc), "General Travel" (still working on our scrapbook of moving across the country in 2010 . . . I am so far behind. ) and "Miscellaneous" (paper that isn't in a stack or doesn't really fit in the other drawers' categories
---- Then I have a big plastic tote and a footlocker tote that has some paper kits and other papers in it too.
I am SO far behind in all of my scrapbooking (like, YEARS behind) and have a ton of paper already but, sure enough, once I start trying to catch up, I will undoubtedly go buy some more fun papers "just because".

I just might have more than most or all of you...I just LOVE paper! Really, if you think about it, 500 sheets of paper make up a ream--one of those packages you buy for your printer, so 500 sheets don't take up much room.
I have big 12x12 shelves from a scrapbook store for my cardstock, sorted by color, with more in one of those expandable-shelf totes CIS used to make, also organized by color. I have 3 Iris plastic containers with unsorted papers, but all the rest is sorted and labeled. I have four 12x12 shelf/bins with Disney paper & emebellies alone, three more for Scout & camping items, another three (plus assorted pads & folders) shelves with cruise & beach stuff, and bunches of other categories (boys, sports, patriotic, holidays, medical, cats, etc., etc.).
My friends love to go "shopping" in my craft room when they come over to crop with me!
I have been cutting way back, vowing to only use what I already had...and then the hobby stores both had sales last week. Oh, well. It's mostly a harmless addiction, and keeps me off the streets.
I have too much!! Most is 8.5 x 11 since I make cards. I have many impulse specialty buys that are still sitting around and waiting for me to do something with. I finally organized my papers last month and now have a good idea of what I need and don't need. I only buy paper if I run out of something that's needed for cards.

I'm just guessing because it would take a long time to count all my paper, but I say I have several 1000 sheets. I paper and it is one of the cheaper aspects of this expensive hobby.
I am not silly enough to write on here my total but let's just say that comparison about the 500 sheets to a ream REALLY scared me! The number would have at least 000s on the end...I'm with Sarah - I am a scrapbook hoarder!
