As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I LOVE the Winter Olympics!! I tape much of it as I can. So far, I have watched the snowboarding, and mogals, and a tiny bit of the skating. I am impressed with the NBC coverage.
Anyone else? I would love to talk about it with others who enjoy it as much as I do.

Can you send them a message with HUGE HUGE thanks for the coverage that they are giving to the Canadians!!!!! I haven't watched today, but taped it (we went to the USA for shopping LOL) but what I saw Thurs was amazing. Our snowboarders and our ladys downhill skiing Moguls was given such beautiful coverage!!! There are 3 sisters from Quebec that are skiing together in one heat, and that was nice that they were recognized. Also the snowboarder from Regina Saskatchewan (it is funny that they can't say Saskatchewan so they say "Canada"-challenge them to say it LOL), who broke his ribs and is still riding, and they did a interview with him.
I am going to watch my taped coverage tonight though. I am so excited to watch. I love the winter Olympics. The summer ones...not so much. I am taping every day....

One of the UPSIDE of living in Detroit is that we get Canadian television. CBC shows a lot of coverage,including LIVE coverage throughout the night. I love watching hockey, skiing,bobsledding( bobsleigh in Canada) and Coop likes the skating,and some skiing. I pray that ALL the Olympians have a safe games. I worry that the "crazies" who hate our country,for whatever reason, spare innocent athletes,and fans.

Anyhooo.....from what I have heard, the 3 have a very close knit family. I imagine this isn't the first time they haven't all medaled. It is sad that they didn't do it all together, but still for the 3 of them to compete in one Olympics, is very unique as well!
I was very impressed with the coverage that they gave the Regina snowboarder. I lived not too far from there, so I get what they mean about the flat lands. It is amazing that he took his dream and went with it considering he didn't have any huge hills to practice on. It says a lot for his dreams, and his drive to do this.
I am behind on watching the Olympics. So many events that I want to watch, and working and downhill skiing, kinda throws a wrench in it LOL.
What events are you all watching? Anyone interested in the hockey? I am more a skiing type of person.
I'm enjoying watching. I've seen men's & women's slopestyle snowboard (yay USA!), USA women's hockey vs Finland, ski jumping (which I don't get at ALL), and downhill skiing (which I think is definitely the scariest event in any Olympics, winter or summer). I also watched some of the team figure skating event which I also didn't understand. I mean, I understood it, but I don't really get why they started doing it. It seemed more like an exhibition that should have been done after individual events to me. I do think that Yulia, the young Russian figure skater, is the one to beat. She is amazing. I can't hardly watch her flexibility on the spins!

The women's slopestyle snowboarding was the highlight for us - Team GB's first ever medal on snow at a Winter Olympics, so that was a huge deal for us over here!
I do think that Yulia, the young Russian figure skater, is the one to beat. She is amazing. I can't hardly watch her flexibility on the spins!
Agreed! I cracked up at Scott Hamilton the other day when he said something along the lines of "I get a cramp every time I watch her do that." as she did her final spin. I felt the same way, like "Good Lord, how does she DO that?!"
I also agree that downhill skiing is scary . . . but I think skeleton looks terrifying! Who in their right mind just decides "Hey, I think it would be awesome to lay on this very thin piece of fiberglass and slide down a half tube covered in ice at 90 miles per hour!" I cringe constantly when I watch it because I am afraid someone will crash!
I was watching Olympic coverage all weekend on NBC and their affiliate channel. I couldn't get enough. I love the Olympics!! I'm looking forward to the individual ice skating events with Yulia from Russia and Jason Brown who lives near us in Illinois. I would really like to see Bode Miller get a medal in the combined event later this week. He is an inspiration for older skiers.

I love the Olympics and watch as much as I can. I wish they could show the whole event with all the competitors. Back in the old days when they offered the Olympic triplecast they did that. I think I might have been one of the few that actually bought the triplecast and watched it all day. I will literally watch anything Olympic.
I love watching the Olympics! I have been watching anything that NBC is covering. I especially enjoy Figure Skating..enjoyed watching the new "team event" this weekend.
