Saw the Most Horrifying Behaviour in a Child - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). We were at 50's Prime Time on Saturday night, enjoying a nice dinner. We had our favorite "cousin" Loukili, had a whole room that was playing along, and all the other wait staff in the room was great!! We were having a wonderful time - and then it was fairly ruined by one family:
2 women were there with 6 or 7 children. Not totally sure which kids belonged to which lady, but that didn't really matter. One of the kids came over to our table to talk - okay, not too big a deal. I didn't really feel like being nice to a 6 year little boy, but whatever, I can be. He spent about 5-10 minutes at our table until he was called back to his table. They got ready to leave, and Loukili went over to say goodbye and that's when it happened! The 6 year old jumped up and SLAPPED the waiter!! HARD. Our guide got up to make sure things were okay, and the kid slapped him also! Then, the kid turned back to Loukili and slapped him a few more times. The whole time, the mothers are standing there, doing NOTHING. They didn't even look horrified!! I'm assuming it's not a new behaviour.
I can't imagine doing nothing while my child abused an adult.
The server is the one who got slapped but yet that family will probably turn around and sue Disney over emotional trauma or some such bull they encountered at the restaurant. Unbelievable

That's horrible. This kid is in for a world of hurt when he grows up and ends up in prison because he never learned that you can't just physically assault whomever you please just because you feel like it. Even if he were to have a mental issue, that is no excuse to assault adults! I'm sure the CMs were thinking, "I don't get paid enough to deal with this crap."

I'm fairly certain he had no issues. He conversed well, spelled his name for us (he wanted us to guess what it was), told us everything they had done that day, and informed us how old he was and when his birthday was. Pretty sure he had no mental or social issues, other than not knowing you don't go around hitting people.
I am so appalled at the behaviour some parents find acceptable but that takes the cake for me. I work in law enforcement and believe me I see a lot. I'm not sure I could have contained myself with that one though. I'm afraid I would have had to say something to those so called parents. My mouth gets me in to trouble sometimes.
Sad. I used to teach middle school. I had a student who got into a mini-fight with a girl because she wouldn't give him the sticker he wanted (8th graders, btw). The stickers were reward stickers for getting right answer. Only did it once. Never again. LOL. Anyway, I heard, "Give that to me, you wh*re." I turned around--everyone's eyes were big as quarters and were looking towards me.
"What did you say?" The kid responded that he had said "horse." Yeah, right. Long story short, I let his mom know what had happened. His father was a child psychologist who happened to work side-job with school system. The mom informed me that her son would never do or say what I claimed he did. She said he loved his sisters and would never treat a girl like that. Give me a break.
Some kids are just entitled little brats. Maybe the CMs interrupted his narcissistic prattling, and he slapped them to silence them. It is sad how so many parents drop the parenting ball. I know it isn't easy, but to tolerate physical assault? Jeesh!
This is one of the most extreme illustrations of non-parents ever. And I agree with Darlene-- this family would probably be the first to sue Disney for some imagined "damage" done to their darling.
The fact that the Parent of the child did nothing is even more appalling. So sad that the child was allowed to behave that way and not be spoken to or corrected.

That's awful. That would have for certain ruined my appetite. I also would have had to contain myself not to speak up, not to the child because that is not my place -but to his parents which need to make it more of there priority to discipline there child and not deem that behavior acceptable!

My eyes just popped out of my head when I read that! I can't believe the adults just stood there and didn't even do anything. I also agree with Darlene, they will probably end up suing Disney.
