As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ive seen a lot of bad reviews.... from around 2007-2008....
I need current reviews on studios....
I know we will need to be fairly close to hospitality and I dont want highway noise. As long as it is clean with no mold we are good, but I was reading mold, hole in beds, beds old , on and on so Im really nervous.
We are planning on being there May 15, 2013 to June 2, 2013 for Star wars
We will drive at least some of the time to the parks
We are interested in staying there because we have never been and want to try something new and to save on points.

I have stayed at OKW a couple of times in the last two years and I have not seen anything that you have described. One time I was in a studio right across the street from the hospitality house and the other time I was in a studio back by the Turtle Pond quiet pool. Both studios were in very nice condition. The only problem I had at OKW was the internet did not work.

Just got back. OUTSTANDING!!!
DW and I had such a bad experience at BLT last year we went over to OKW and asked to see a studio, and were very surprised how big it was, and the overall "feel" of the resort. So we booked our stay there Sept.9-20.
It is such a friendly resort. The CMs are always smiling, and saying hello, but in a very natural way. We were certainly "on guard" after a HORRIBLE experience last year, and it didn't take more than a few hours, and we felt like we were at our favorite summer camp. The pool area, always hopping with good activities, and even the stuff we don't care for(Karaoke) was tolerable. We even tried to rent a boat, but the weather was bad,so they closed the lake, and Coop and I rented a surrey bike instead. What a hoot.
We asked to stay near the Hospitality House, and got a studio right across the street. We felt "at home" going back and forth to the pool, bus stop, gift shop.
The buses were always on time? We hardly waited long at all. *TIP* The bus returning from DTD is the only one that stops at the Hospitality House first.. All the others go to "Peninsular Rd." first, which is not to far a walk to the Hosp. House.
The room was very clean, with firm beds,a new flat screen TV,and a nice big bathroom, and did I mention clean? The only quirky thing for us was the toilet flusher was a button on top of the tank, and a little loud NBD. The grounds were well kept, and this new? policy of CMs walking around with pick-up grabbers? keeps the place spotless. Olivia's is still a fantastic place for lunch, and if you get Jason, tell him we said hello,he was great, and told us some facts about WDW we've never heard before.
As you can tell,I/We found it to be a very nice resort to stay at. I'd love to stay again, and probably will,as we want to try every DVC resort we can.

Mold is an omnipresent threat in central Florida due to the high humidity. It can literally appear overnight. A call to housekeeping can take care of that issue at any resort.
we have stayed in studios and 2 bedrooms, and all were great there. Last year we stayed at BLT,home resort. And we will never stay there again. going back to stay at OKW will be there same time as you in 2013.
We feel the people that work there really like their jobs and are always happy

Since 2009 I have stayed several times at OKW, my most recent this past May. Both in the Turtle pond and Hospitality House areas. I have had one housekeeping issue with the tub not being cleaned out properly and my outside light bulb being burned out. Both were the same stay in 2011. They came and dealt with both issues immediately!! Other than that I can say I've had no issues. The only 'complaint' I have against OKW is during really busy times you might have trouble finding a chair by the big pool. I don't think you will be disappointed. Enjoy your time there!
I have stated 3 times since 2007 and haven't had any issues at all. On the contrary, the resort and villas were immaculate.
THANK YOU! I was shocked by what I was reading as I have been blessed to stay at Riverside, AKL-J,K, BWV, SSR, BC, POP, and the only place we ever had issues was at All Star Movies which was an issue of old and in need of refurbishment. I couldnt imagine a DVC being allowed to get to that point.

Im sorry you had a bad experience at BLT. I have never stayed there. Our stay at BCV was weird, we felt like we were 2nd class citizens as DVC there from the attitude of the check in clerk to any time we needed something. Felt like that at first at Riverside since I was with a conference. But we were treated so wonderfully after it made up for it. Every other place it has been welcome home or glad you are here....

See, we live in Oklahoma and after a rain - you smell the mold everywhere, thats why I couldnt imagine it just being a permanent issue....

Hey - you'll have to give the definitive update!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!! I will be booking in a couple weeks!
We stayed there in Sept 2009 and absolutely loved it. Very clean and spacious. The girls loved the pool behind the HH. We were not too far from the HH in a 1bdrm. A quick walk and a quick walk from the first drop off. I fell in love with the resort. If I ever get to buy into DVC I want to buy resale so I can have OKW as my home resort. I think you will love it there.

Hey neighbor!!!! How are you??? We are looking at adding on to DVC and points at OKW or SSR are what we will prob choose, although I will prob choose SSR bc of contract length and dues are .50 point cheaper. With all the animal care at AKL, we are at our max on points there I think bc of the high dues. I hope you get to do DVC soon, its the smartest thing financially we have ever done!
I am looking forward to staying at OKW after all the reassurances.

I am doing great neighbor. I saw that some of the resales have the longer contract date like SSR. That is what I want too. I hope I get to buy soon. I finally got a new job, so once we get some of this debt paid off I am definitely looking onto it. I hope you have a fabulous trip.
We have been to OKW a few times since 2008 and and its been our favorite place to stay We usally stay in a 2br near the HH and thought the rooms were always nice and in decent condition. I realize that some people will give a bad review because they expect these types of resorts to be in perfect condition. In my opinion that will never happen because they are still a hotel room and will always have a lot of wear and tear.
