As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am joining WW and could use some tips from fellow Passporters
Hoping to lose weight before my next trip to WDW in August. I know this will be a life-time journey for me but thought it would be a fun benchmark to see how I can do before our next trip.
What are your fave WW tips? Fave snacks and meals?
If there are a bunch of us, maybe we can share ideas on an ongoing basis!
my wife is back on it.lost 70 the first time then fell off of it. back doing it again and already down 25#
She sticks to the points strict mon-fri then she says weekend is her cheat time, even though she really doesn't cheat to much. just the time she might have a ice cream or something else that she wanted during the week. plus she just does treadmill and elliptical at home

I joined WW online a little over a month ago....Im down 10 lbs so far. Ive also been working out 5-6 times a week. My goal is to lose another 30 lbs and then maintain. I know its not going to happen over night and I just keep plugging away. I fall off the wagon sometimes but I get right back on.
The thing I like about weight watchers is that you can have everyday food. There are weight watchers products but you don't have to buy them.
My tip is don't deprive yourself. If you have favorite things then still eat them just smaller portions and count the points. I like the online WW because its really easy to track points and activities.

I just rejoined last week. I have done the old points system, but the points plus is new to me. The points plus plan has me eating lots of fruits and veggies as they are 0 pts, so I am definitely getting in my 5 servings a day.
I made one of their online recipes the other day, Feta and Vegetable frittatas (2 pts per serving). They are mini sized, so I froze them and now I just pop a couple in the microwave each morning for breakfast.
I do WW online. My fav WW "trick" is to always get salad dressing on the side and dip the fork in it and then pick up salad
Also if you go out to eat, ask for the "to go" container at the beginning of the meal and put half in it. That is my personal "trick" (and what I always tell my patients).
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
I am on the online. Since we moved in December I haven't been doing anything with it. Thankfully I have maintained where I was but an ready to lose now. My birthday was Monday and our next trip to WDW will be for my birthday next year and I am planning to have lost weight before then!
I've lost 24lbs so far on WW! I joined the last week of December. I really recommend going to the meetings. The online tools are great, but you get them if you sign up for the monthly meeting pass. There is nothing to keep you honest like having to get on the scale in front of your leader or host every week.
And now I'll be honest. I'm using the spirit of the program, not the to the letter program. I really needed to learn about portion size, and now that I've got a handle on that I just make sure I keep within the general bounds of the program--eat lots of fruits and veggies and get lots of exercise. I basically eat whatever I want, but a lot less of whatever I want. I've also eliminated some real busters--no more drive through for me. I know that I end up with some high calorie meals because I eat at work a lot, but I try to keep a handle on it by putting my plate together and then throwing out half. (I know that sounds awful but I'm typically the last person to eat before they throw the whole mess away for the day.) I also use the "Please bring me a box" at the beginning of my meal and only eat about 1/3rd of what is on my plate when dining out--then someone at home finishes my leftovers.

I was going to meetings before we moved and I did find that better. However, we moved to a little "village", it's not even big enough to be considered a town or city, in NM. The nearest meeting location I have found is over 100 miles away. So I have to make it work online!
I am going to start tracking tomorrow and I am trying to get the treadmill together - we couldn't find some of the parts after the move, I found them this week! I would like to lose 60-80 lbs before our trip so I have to get on track.

I joined WW after having my son. The group leader mentioned that we were there because we couldn't lose the weight on out own. I didn't like being told that i couldn't do it alone so I never went to another meeting. I went from 150-115 met my goal weight in August 2011. I started Jan 2011
Thanks for the responses everyone! I am doing WW online because it is difficult for me to get to the meetings, and also makes more sense for me financially.
Glad to know there are some fellow Passporters doing WW! Something else in common!
I gained 40 lbs when I was pregnant with my twins in 2006. I was able to lose 20 lbs on my own right away. I lost the final 20 lbs to make Lifetime in 2007 by following the WW plan (and going to meetings). Unfortunately, I have gained about 20 lbs back in the past year, mostly due to stress eating after my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I just decided to start doing WW again on my own and today is my first day tracking my food again. I love that the new points plus program includes fruits and veggies for 0 pts. I just have to make sure I eat them!
For snacks, I like cheese and I just bought some Laughing Cow Swiss cheese wedges. 1 little wedge is worth 1 point and it was very tasty spread on mult-grain toast this morning. I also heard it is good mixed with scrambled egg beaters, but I have not tried that yet.
My tips are to drink your water, track your food (every lick, bite and taste no matter how small) and set mini-goals and give yourself small rewards when you reach them. Good luck!
Pickles became my go-to snack after our group leader mentioned that some are 0 pts for the entire jar. I find myself reaching for a pickle chip now instead of a bag of potato chips when I crave the salty crunch. OUr leader has set a group goal for us to get in shape enough to participate in at least 2 5K's of our choosing by November...I'm signed up from one this June and plan on some. Initially, I lost 25 pounds, and got discouraged when I ramped up my exercise and found that I gained 5 pounds back...I put an additional 5-7 on this past winter when fresh fruit/vegies became scarce. I'm going to sign up with the on-line program after we get our state tax refund It's hard to get to a meeting in my area - there are a few daytime ones but they frown on us bringing our kiddos...and I'm in grad school at night.

The fruit and vegie thing - we belong to a local co-op and pay a monthly fee for a "box delivery" of locally grown fruits/vegies and such. The drawback is that once the growing season ends in the fall, the winter is filled with lots of starchy root vegetables.
