Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Question dining rotation

Ok, so here's my question. We will be on the 7 night Eastern Caribbean sailing on Fantasy on April 21-28 and have NO idea when to book my Remy night and Palo based on the fact that I have no idea what my rotation will be like. does anyone that has been on a recent 7 night Eastern Caribbean know what my rotation might be like? We have three adults and a 9 year old traveling. Does anyone know a link to go to that may have some recent dining rotation posts for 7 night cruises? thanks

You will not find out your rotation until after you board, but you can call DCL and request a particular rotation. There is no guarantee you will get your request, but at least it is out there.

Currently on Eastern itineraries on the Magic, the rotations are as follows:
APLAPLA
PLAPLAP
LAPLAPL

The menus/dress look like this currently...
Night One - regular rotation menu/casual dress
Night Two - Prince and Princess menu/formal night
Night Three - regular rotation menu/casual dress
Night Four - Pirates in the Caribbean menu/casual or Pirates dress
Night Five - regular rotation menu/casual dress
Night Six - Captain's Gala menu/semi-formal night
Night Seven - 'Til We Meet Again menu/casual dress

Since the Fantasy will be sailing the same Eastern itinerary as the Magic currently sails, I wouldn't expect DCL to change up what is currently in place as far as dining rotations and menus/dress. Of course, one never knows!

Hope this helps!

We've had a "tendencies" list in our DCL guidebook for a long time, but it's only a very vague guideline, as the number of couples, families with young kids, families with older kids, families with kids of varying ages is going to vary to some degree, and there hasn't been a lot of evidence one way or the other to refute or support our observations.

Note that there will be two shows in Animator's Palate on the Fantasy, the current show on the Dream featuring Crush, and the new Animation Magic. This sends the "second AP night is OK for Palo" strategy out the window.

I suggest you ignore the rotation issue. Since you'll be traveling at a time when most schools are in session, the number of kids won't be huge (you'll stand a better chance of getting first seating). If you haven't already requested it, request early dining, and book your Palo/Remy reservations for later in the evening, on whatever night may be appealing/available. Experience the main dining rooms with your daughter (eating lightly or not at all), put her in Oceaneer Lab, and enjoy your late dinner.

If by some chance you get late seating and your Palo/Remy reservation conflicts with Animator's (since the other two dining rooms don't have shows and you'll be in each at least twice, it won't matter which night you miss), go to the dining reservations meeting the afternoon you board, and see what they can move around for you.

Exclamation maybe a different question would be better....

so, based on a second show at AP that would throw trying to figure out my dining rotation out the window, maybe the better question here is I can't count on making our dining rotation AND the theatre production...so I guess we will have to wait to see what shows are which nights? I would prefer to miss a magician or such over a disney production. I know there are two shows each night, but if we make the show, then we would very well miss a "show" night in the restaurants since now there are 4 nights that have a "show" at dinner. Two AP nights, one at each of the other two dining options. Decisions...decisions. Will definitely post some info upon our return as we will be doing the first sailing the Fantasy takes into the Eastern Caribbean. Will be sure to bring home navigators and maybe menus and all if i can take some pics. thanks for the info dave

There are definitely too many moving pieces if you also factor-in the theater shows. The easiest "fix" is to try to get Palo Brunch instead of dinner. That means you'd only have to pick one night, for Remy.

I guess it also depends on how you define "show" for dinner. I don't quite put Pirates Night into the same class as Animator's Palate.

We're doing the Fantasy in July for the Eastern Carribbean and we've asked for late seating. So I'm going to try for Remy's on our last night.

thanks dave

thanks for the answers everyone. we are going to leave the two ressies we have at Remy's and change them as needed once on board and have our dining rotation and will work our Palo ressie into the schedule if we can. from seeing the prince and princess menue and it not being a normal night for rotation, i think I rather miss that menu than anything else, especially since there isn't a show at that seating. We'll be formal anyhow for Palo!!! Will definitely make some postings after our cruise. we are very excited. Dave and Jennifer, if you are looking for anything in particular regarding the cruise let me know before I sail adn i will be happy to get back to you guys after the cruise. we will be on the first Eastern Caribbean sailing on the Fantasy adn sailing with a 9 year old, my mom who's 70 and me and my husband in our late 40's.

Thanks for offering! Generally, there aren't specific things we need to ask folks to check out. What's most valuable is to know what was new, unexpected, changed, or has gone away - things we generally can't anticipate. We learn a whole lot when folks share their experiences with folks here on the boards. Everyone approaches and experiences life a little bit differently, and when you share those perspectives we learn a lot about what our readers need.

I can't wait to hear about your experiences! Especially your take on Remy (we've done Palo, so I know what to expect there) and if it's really worth the cost - and giving up another event on the ship. That's the same itinerary we are sailing next March, so I will anticipate reading anything you have to say!

I am on the same cruise and wasn't aware that they were doing both shows-I thought it was just the animation magic show

They did give the impression it would just be Animation Magic when they first announced it, but the "dueling shows" (or is that dual shows?) came out in a press release a little while back.

A = Animator's Palate
P = Parrot Cay (Magic and Wonder only)
L = Lumiere's (Magic)

For the other ships...
T = Triton's (Wonder) (equivalent to Lumiere's)
E = Enchanted Garden (Dream and Fantasy) (rather than Parrot Cay)
R = Royal Palace (Dream)/Royal Court (Fantasy) (equivalent to Triton's/Lumiere's)
