As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Our HOT HOT HOT August Celebrations PTR
This our third planned trip to WDW in a 7 month time frame starting with December for Jessica's birthday, then April for spring break and my birthday. We are now moving on to August which will be the longest of all of the trips.
Lately I didn't think this trip was going to happen because of the government and the debt celing. THANK GOODNESS they finally got their act together and I will still get my SS/Disability/SSI so I can pay for my car and other necessities.
Last September I bought a small point interest in DVC to which my home resort is VGC. I really wanted AKL, but the points and maintainence was higher. This will be our first DVC stay.
This trip we will be traveling with our friends Beverly and her DD Lisa. We met Beverly and Lisa at Disneyland back in July of 2005 after our first WDW trip. Both our girls were at Junior Chef making cookies. Beverly and I struck up a conversation and have been friends ever since. The girls, despite a small age difference are close like sisters. Beverly and Lisa are also Disneyland annual passholders and will be upgrading to Premier AP's for this trip and the next one in July of 2012.
So here is the who/what/when and where:
Cast:
Me- Marci Love to plan WDW trips
my DD Jessica 11 Loves to pin trade
Beverly Our Disneyland AP friends and fellow wait while the girls go on the rides partner.. Also DVC owner at VGC.
Beverly's DD Lisa 14 Loves Disney and can't wait to ride EE
We are celebrating Beverly and Lisa's first visit to WDW. Both Jessica and Lisa had graduations this past June and we will be celebrating that as well. No birthdays this time around, but we have been known to get birthday buttons and get the free tortillas at DCA when Mission was there.
We will be at WDW from August 15th to the 25th. Our first stop is at Old Key West for one night. We will share a room that night and then the next morning move over to AKL Kidani where we will each have our own studio's.

Let's see... when I left off we were going to check in at OKW. After check in we are heading over to MK. We have later dinner ADR's for The Plaza. That is a first for Jessica and I. It will be an early night for us. Maybe just go on a few of the old Disneyland rides, such as Carousel of Progress, People Mover, Country Bear Jamboree. Lisa doesn't remember any of those attractions. I am really hoping for a late night swim, or at least the hot tub.
The next morning we will taxi over to AKL Kidani where we will have our own studios with a savannah view. We will do our check in and head over to Epcot. We usually start our trip at that park. Once we get our room, we will go back and unpack and relax.
I only have one other day that I will know what park we will be going to since we have lunch ADR's. That is Animal Kingdom and lunch at Y&Y. The other days we will just wing it during the day and then go to what ever park or resort we have our dinner ADR's at. We will also be going to both waterparks once or twice. We may even try out Disneyquest.
Our dining ADR's have been made and this is our line up:
8/15 The Plaza
8/16 Tokyo Dining Jessica's choice
8/17 Cape May Cafe
8/18 WCC
8/19 1900 Park Fare
8/20 Lunch at Y&Y Dinner at Crystal Palace
8/21 Teppan Edo
8/22 Chef Mickeys
8/23 Garden Grill
8/24 Kona Cafe
To be continued....

UPDATED 8/3/11
This trip we are flying on Southwest. I went with them since they were less expensive than United. Also after my scooter problems with United not loading it on my flight, I am kind of sour on them now. I did like having a direct flight with United though.
Our flight leaves at 6:45 am with one plane change in Houston (Hobby) airport. From there it is a direct to Orlando. Our shuttle van will be picking us up at 3am. I would rather get to the airport really early to go through TSA with my scooter. Last time TSA had to go through the bag with our pins and that took a while. We will be meeting up with Beverly and Lisa at the airport. We don't live near them to share the shuttle van. We all have earlybird check in both ways so that will make it easier for them. I will be pre boarded with Jessica. This time I am going to make sure that my scooter is not left behind.
I just got my scooter back from it yearly maintainence, and it looks brand new. I have new wheels/tires and a new battery and charger. They even fixed the button of my horn that broke off when I was putting my scooter in the car. I am ready to roll.
The photo pass CD has been order already..... smile We are ready for our close up's. This will be the third photo pass CD. Don't know if I will get on the next time.
I have confirmed the shuttle service to and from the airport. I have a handicapped accessible van reserved. Hopefully things will go better with that than my April trip. On our return to LAX, they didn't know where the H/C van was. It had left.... I was told it would be over an hour for another one... NOT GOOD. I was then put into a regular van. Broke the scooter up to fit and then was told that I would have to pay extra for a non shared ride....WHAT!!!!! I had prepaid for the service and they did not meet my needs. It was not my fault that they didn't have the van I needed. I told the driver not to leave. and would just wait for a H/C van. Another passenger came along with only one bag and we were able to make it a shared ride after all. When I confirmed today they told me I have been assigned to a H/C van and all they have to do is call it over. That remains to be seen. I won't worry about that now.
Now comes the rest of the packing. I already started so just really need to finish up on that. I still need to get my dining plan for our DVC stay. I guess we are ready for our HOT HOT HOT August Celebrations.
