mini mini trip report! from april 2010 with my choir :D - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

mini mini trip report! from april 2010 with my choir :D
I was thinking about my trip to Disney World with my choir in April 2010 and thought hey! why not write a mini trip report for it??? I thought this could serve as a practice for me for my summer trips... because I intend to write trip reports for those! .. I enjoy reading everyones trip reports so much!
I think of this as a test trip report.
I really don't remember all the details but I do remember some! It was my first and only (so far) trip to Disney World without my family. This time it was with friends and I loved it! We squeezed Disney World into one day, unbelievable huh? We managed to get through 3 out of 4 parks though! Oh, introductions!
I'm Chelsea. College student, I love reading and writing, Disney is a huge part of my life. I don't really have a favorite movie or character or anything because I'm too indecisive for that. A few characters I love a lot are: Mickey Mouse, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Dopey, Jasmine, and Pocahontas.
This is me:
I don't know how to resize the pictures... it seems a little big.. that's why this is practice! :]
Of course we split into groups once we got to the parks and this was my main group:
From left to right, Christine, Sam, Jessica, Me, and the one in the wheelchair is Lucy! she broke her leg before the trip.
whoops and now that picture is smaller? I think it was because it was taken from different camera.
Anyways,
We traveled to Florida on buses. That was an 18 hour trip. It was so uncomfortable! But it was okay because we were on our way to Disney World! We got to Florida and stopped by that huge McDonalds to get breakfast and to change into our park clothes because we were headed straight to Disney World. We didn't stop at the hotels or anything, just straight on to the happiest place on earth!
Once we got to Disney World.. we made our way to our first park of the day.. any guesses?
The Magic Kingdom!
We took the boat from the tickets and transportation center to the Magic Kingdom. That's the first time I remember taking a boat to the parks because we usually take the monorail. It was so pleasant, we got to see everything and take our time, headed straight to the Magic Kingdom.
We got off the boat and made our way to Splash Mountain. We went part way through the line but got to take a different way at a certain point because Lucy was in her wheel chair. I would like to take this moment to say how AMAZING Splash Mountain is! I'm sure most of you know this! I love the way it tells a story and it's a long ride. I also really like the music and the drops of course!
Here's a picture (the same picture as the one before.. lol) we got a kind stranger to take of us right after we got off Splash Mountain:
Haha, if you look closely at my side, you can see I got a little wet.
From there we made our way to:
Actually, we went through tomorrowland to get to the main hub by the castle to meet some of our chaperones.
I think I'll continue this tomorrow, I have more stories to share, promise!
Feel free to say hello!

We were heading towards the castle from Tomorrowland to meet our chaperones. Along the way, we took some pictures!
The front of the castle is the perfect place to meet! We were able to catch the show in front while waiting for some people.
Mickey’s looking at me there^! haha
I don’t remember crowds being that big that day. I think the next day was suppose to be grad night and that’s why we chose to go to Disney instead of Universal that day. I’ve always gone to Disney during summertime and always expect big crowds. Going in April was great! The weather was so nice, it was hot but the humidity wasn’t that high that day.
Anyways, we met up with our chaperones, went over the safety rules and what times to meet, and then went on our way! From there we decided to go to Hollywood Studios.
When we go to Hollywood Studios, there was a parade going on! I don’t remember the name for it exactly.. it was the Move it, Shake it, Celebrate it! parade I think. It was difficult getting through those watching the parade but we managed!
I couldn’t take that many pictures because I was pushing my friend’s wheelchair. Besides, I was enjoying the moment rather than crazily snapping pictures like I usually do. It was nice to be there with friends. I believe we made our way to Tower of Terror next.
While we were waiting in line for our elevator, the family next to us started a conversation. They were from somewhere in Europe, I don’t remember where. They were asking about the ride and how it went because they had a little boy with them. Then we started talking about how they were stuck in the states because of that volcanic eruption? Does anyone remember that? There was an eruption that caused trouble with traveling to and from Europe in April 2010. The family was telling us they were trying to make the best out of their situation and were grateful that their hotel had room for them to extend their stay. Soon after, we were on our elevator! With the family we were talking to. I wonder what they thought of the ride?
I love Tower of Terror. That one second before you drop or rise, and you have no clue whether you’re heading up or down is pure terror for me... I love it! haha.
On a side note, I went on Tower of Terror last summer when they were doing that Summer Nighttastic thing and they had the new drop sequence. I wonder if they’re still doing that now? I thought it was creepier than what it was before because I didn’t know what to expect. Instead of the last scene where they take you through that room with random objects towards where they drop you, it was just stars. It was completely dark except those points of light, which was very disorienting. I was freaked out lol. And then they started playing really creepy music instead of the narration you usually get.. you know.. where usually the last words you hear are.. “Tower of Terror”.. I think. Something like that. Anyways, instead of the Twilight Zone host telling you that, it just played music. You had absolutely no idea when you were going to drop. It was pretty cool Anyone else saw this? Oh and I liked at the end how they showed the picture of your elevator group at the end.
End side note. haha
Okay, next we made our way to get food! I’ll get the rest of the day on here soon!

My Disney Dream Cruise summer 2011 Disney Dream
I’ve been so busy with everything lately! Life of a college student haha. But now I have some down time to relax and reminisce about this trip!
After we rode Tower of Terror, we were hungry as anything! We made our way to ABC Commissary to eat some food. I think I got a burger. All I know is, we were glad that it was air conditioned in there and we were finally going to eat. Everything tastes 10x better when you’re tired and happy... not to mention at Disney World!
Here we are, inside the commissary, full and happy!
After we ate, we all decided we wanted to go to Rock N’ Roller Coaster next. But we got sidetracked.
Can anyone guess where?
haha we went to the what I believe is the animation studios? The place where they have all the characters. The picture above is one of my favorites.
Of course, we had to take a picture with the star himself,
Mickey! There was no line!
I had to take a picture with my favorite dwarf<3
After we looked around the animation studios, we went to Rock N’ Roller Coaster! I love this roller coaster.
And we took a rockin’ picture...
After that, we decided to go ride Toy Story Mania. Now I realize, remembering what we did that day, that we went all over the park and kept going from one end of the park to the other. haha we were excited and we had no plan, but we still had fun!
Mr. Potato Head!
That ride is insanely fun! It always has a long wait time though. But I think it’s worth it, especially with a fastpass! We had to go to a different line to accommodate the wheelchair and then we had to wait for a car with bigger space. While we were waiting, one of the cast members started talking to us about the ride. Then he started to tell us how we could unlock the boards and get higher scores. This was the first time riding for my friends and only my second time. It was awesome that he told us those secrets and I still remember some, but we basically kept pulling the trigger and didn't focus on that stuff there wasn't anytime for us to ride it a second time, but I plan on trying out those secrets with my cousin this summer!
After Toy Story Mania, we went right across to visit Buzz and Woody.
Here are some pictures that make me smile every time I see them...
I don’t have to picture of us with Buzz and Woody though.. each of us had a camera and I didn’t take as many pictures because everyone else was taking pictures. Plus, we didn’t want to trouble the character attendant or photographer by handing him or her six cameras
One last picture before we headed to our third park of the day...
had to get one of Mickey’s magic hat!!
You can kind of tell that it was late afternoon in the picture. And there is barely anyone behind me! If that was during the summer time when I usually go, it would have been a crowd of people behind me!
I didn’t take that many pictures in Epcot because we were pressed for time. No time to snap pictures. It’s better to enjoy the moments sometimes than look through a camera lens to capture them.
I think that's a good place to stop for now I'm almost done! I'm aiming to finish this weekend. Coming up next is Epcot and back to the Magic Kingdom.
