Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Know that I am total novice, everything I know I researched!!!

FE, Fish Extenders -- hangers on the room fish you can put little gifts and treats in. I joined a group on DISBoards but maybe it's too early to start getting that together? I wanted to make something so need a little extra time Thanks for the tip on the passporter -- what kind of information is in there?

Also, wonder if you could help with a dilemma... we booked our flight and cruise on the same day. Now after hours of research, it seems that's a BIG risk. We have trip insurance, and I flew between our airport and MCO about 7 times last fall and never had a problem. Considering the cost ($300!) and that we still have to get passports ($400!!!), well... what would you do?!?!? We are also going to stay at the hotel connected to our homoe airport so we will have the car parked and all we have to do is walk from our hotel room, down a walkway and right into the airport. Of course NOW I realize we should have spent those hotel dollars in Orlando and not Pittsburgh, but live and learn!!!

Also, have your told your kids?!?! We were thinking of surprising them, but wonder if that may not be such a good idea??

Thanks for the advice!!!

Never too early to get prepared for a vacation. I just bought some mickey silly bands on clearance at Target (toy department)to give them while on the ship. I will bring light up necklaces for the pirate party and bubbles for the sail away party. Can't wait!!!!! The passporter gives all sort of info. Things to bring, storage ideas, quite places on the ship, all sorts of great tips!!!! You will thank me after you have read it. What time do you land at the airport? That would make me nervous. I am 2 1/2 hours from the port. (West Coast) We may stay at the in-laws because they are 20 mins from the port. You can get on the ship @ 11:00-12:00. We hope to get to the port @ 10:30. The earlier the better!!!! A friend is on this weekend can't wait to here the details. Wish it was a week cruise but will take 4 nights I guess. Can't wait to explore the Dream She looks awesome!!! We have told our girls. My toddler is potty training this week because she hopes to play in the club even though she won't be three yet. We have a change jar with pictures of the ship on it that we put out coins in. The kids are so excited because they know what crusing is all about. Gotta go, Cheryl

How was your friends cruise?!?!? Bet October feels sooooo far away now!!!! I think the passporter comes out this month, so will definately get it

Think we'll end up risking the flight, we're in at 10 am, getting a car service to PC and expect we'll be there 11:30. I'm worried we may be stuck waiting for hours, there are so many conflicting reports on arrival and wait times... I guess it will be what it will be!

DH got me a cruise ship for mothers day to add to my pandora bracelet... I said 'wow, is my obsession that bad?' and he just said 'well, you love it don't you' yup, I do : ) Now it will get really bad while I make the FE and start getting the gifts together.... so much fun!!!

Getting Closer!

You got me addicted to Disboards. Love reading everyones stories. Summer begins next week for us and the kids are excited to start preparing for our vacation. Making the FE, magnets, and goodie bags. Dinner outfits for the kids are bought & picked out except for Pirate Night. My husband thinks I'm nuts! I can't wait and I know once September rolls around like gets crazy for me. Kids back in school, birthdays, and gymnastics competions start. Ready for the passporter to come out. My 2 year old is potty trained so she should be able to go the the kids club. Let me know if you get any new info. Thanks, Cheryl

Haha, love boards! cruise critic is another good one to feed the vacation appetite I have been 'designing' my FE for weeks, and finally I'm going to the store this weekend to get the supplies -- I'm going to try to make detachable pockets for the kids, in hopes that as they grow and their interests change I can just make updated pouches for them. Let's see if I can actually make it happen now!!!

I have a box that I've been stashing goodies in - sale and discounted items and such. Not sure what we'll do for FE gifts, but have a couple ideas Got the email that the passporter is promised and that they're going to do a pre-sale but no dates Trying hard to not wish the summer away!!!!

FE's

Were you going to do the Fish Extender? The organizer on DISboards is going to close them soon, so if you were interested in doing it suggest going to the cruise meet there and signing up. It seems that according to Passporter we're the only ones on the 10/2 cruise!!! I have a few ideas of what I'm making, and my FE is 1/4 done - I'm really going all out, I don't have any sewing projects right now so it's satisfying my creative itch!

Scouring the end of summer sales for a few things, but otherwise we are ready! I'm borrowing my mom's space bags to cram all of our stuff into our carry-ons!!

I thought there were quite a few people signed up for FE's. I have started the gifts but not the Fish Extender. Trying to get ready for school. I recieved my passporter on Saturday! Can't wait to read it! I've also been watching the sales for fun stuff for out cruise. They have some light up swords at Michaels for the Pirate Party. It's going to be a blast!!!!

So far think there are 13 cabins doing the FE on DIS Boards, but I didn't see anyone doing them here -- am I missing something?

Forgot to order the passporter - thanks for the remider!!! It's been crazy here but things will slow down over the weekend so I can finally finish my FE and make a final decision on what I'm gifting!!!

Can't believe we're less than 2 months away - woo hoo!!
