Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Keurig?

I'm thinking of asking Santa to bring me one of these for Christmas. Technically, I'd like 2 (one for home, one for work). I've been eyeballing the Elite for home and the Mini for work, just in case the elves are reading, and I've been VERY good this year.

I like coffee, both regular and decaf as well as tea. Never been a Starbuck's person, so it won't be a huge savings for me that way. Oldest DD has a Gevalia coffee maker that is a pain and she leaves stuff in it, so it stays disgusting. I've been using the coffee bags, but they are not cheap, either, and just don't taste that great. I went to a work function where they had a Keurig and it was ni-ice. Plus, everyone could pick their poison and there was no muss, no fuss. I also hate making a whole pot at work and then having half of it go to waste. Amazon has a deal where you can "subscribe" to coffee shipments and make it about .36/cup. The bags I'm using are about .29/cup. Rationalizing..........98% complete.

Anyone have one? Opinions?

My husband got one for home, one for work last Christmas. He is a Starbucks guy, and loves his Keurigs! There are so many choices of coffee available.

I say start with one, and if you really like it, get the second.

We have a big one at home and I keep a mini in my apartment at college. We looooove it! It makes one cup at a time, but it makes it quickly so that if we're trying to make 4 cups it doesn't take long, just pop the used K-cup out and put a new one in. There's not much else to it....you can get coffee (flavored, decaf etc.), tea, and hot chocolate. It's more expensive than buying loose ground coffee but we think it's worth it. We did buy a special empty K-cup that we can put ground coffee in for brands that don't already come in K-cups. It's one less thing to worry about in the morning.

I make my coffee by the cup with a Melitta maker. You can get a reusable filter but paper ones are about $.02 each for a brand name and $.01 for store brand. Even using "expensive" coffee, it is only pennies a cup and much better for the environment.

We have a Kuerig that I love! I'm not a huge coffee drinker - I don't like it at all!
We use the thing for instant hot water, and to brew tea, mostly. We have a refillable K-cup that needs no filters or anything else. Just fill it with your tea (or coffee, if you actually want), pop it into the machine, and brew. The reusable cups are about an extra $14-$15. Worth every penny!!

I loooooooooovvvvvvvveeeeeeeee my Keurig! I have the Keurig B50 that makes two sizes of coffee. I love the Green Mountain Coffee flavors, especially French Vanilla and Caramel Vanilla Cream. I buy the K cups from Bed, Bath & Beyond using their coupons. It makes the coffee about .50/cup with the 20% off coupon. I also have the Keurig coffee filter for ground coffee but honestly never use it.

I used to use Melitta all the time (having grown up in Germany and all ), but it's too messy for work. I have been concerned about the k-cups/environment, but thinking the reusable one might be the ticket for both cost-effectiveness and "environmentality".

I keep a one cup Melitta at work and have never found it messy-I just dump the filter as soon as my coffee is done. I seldom have more than a cup of coffee a day so that may make it easier. One other option, if you are organized, is to bring a thermos to work and make more than a cup at a time.

The insurance agency in my building has a Keurig. Some people love it, others either bring their own coffee from home. Even buying in bulk, the cups are fairly expensive. If you can get a reusable cup, that might cut down on the expense.

I'm surprised people use them for tea and hot chocolate.

One thing you could do is wait until you get to your new position and see what other people do. There may already be a communal coffee kitty.

The Keurig is so easy to use and they have a ton of varieties. I would try one and then if you like it ask for another one.

I like my Keurig. We get the k-cups in bulk at BJs. It's nice to have the ability to make one cup at a go. I can also bring some K-cups into work. It works out to be cheaper for me, too, because if I've got the k-cups at work I won't stop for coffee on the way. It saves me some money.

My DH has one and loves it. We also have the reusable pod that I bought for $9 at Macy's on sale. It works great, but DH prefers his fancy Kona coffee pods. I love it because it's much cleaner in the kitchen. No coffee grounds on the counter, no nasty dirty coffee pot that has been sitting half full of coffee all day, and no drips on the floor from taking the filter of coffee from the machine to the trash can.

I am too cheap to ever buy one of those. How much does each cup of coffee end up costing? Surely cheaper than Starbucks, but it must be more expensive that a traditionally made cup of coffee ( have to be cheap. I have 3 kids in college, and a 4th is starting in September!).

I don't drink coffee but DH loves our Keurig! I got it for him last year - check out the club stores for specials that include 60 K cups with the purchase for around $130!
