As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Hi, I am travelling next year with my partner and 2 children on the Magic. We wanted to book 2 cat 11 staterooms for the extra space and privacy. My children will be 18 and 16 when we go. When I went to book I was told that because my youngest is under 18 and there needed to be an over 21 in the room with him.
I have now booked 1 room using my DVC points for myself and youngest and the other cash for my partner and eldest. The rooms are next to each other ( not connecting).
My question is will we be able to let the children have there own room and switch over once onboard/checking in?
Has anybody had this issue themselves or know what we can/can't do?
What options if any do I have? I can potentially see an issue with room keys.

I know disney is strict on their regualtions. However, I don't see them, checking your room every night to make sure that everyone is in their proper stateroom. IMO, if you trust your children to be in there alone at night it is your business. As far as room keys, you will have to do some switching around, you could try to switch after you are on board, however, I don't know if they will allow. Did you look into a cat 10 connecting?? This could be the answer to your problem, but with more $ too.
You won't be able to officially switch their rooms, but you will be able to get extra room keys for everyone so that you have the right keys. Our kids would bounce back and forth between our room and the in-laws' and it was never questioned. Especially if your rooms are connecting (do Cat 11 rooms connect?), then it'll be easy peasy!

This comes up regularly on the cruise (had to deal with this ourselves once). DCL doesn't do bed checks . They just need an adult to be responsible for what happens in the room. Guest Relations will make extra keys for you once on board "so either adult can supervise both rooms." Still, you'll find this easier if you can get connecting rooms, but it's not essential.

Extra room keys sound like the way to go as they are older I can trust them in their own room. They know they will have to switch with us otherwise and they'd be gutted if they had to share with either of us.

After our first cruise, we realized that so what that we don't have a connecting room door -- our kids are right next door -- ages 14, 16. We got extra keys from the desk. If I at all felt my kids would not stay in there room or if the ship wasn't safe, I would have slept one adult in each room. But, I do feel safe. We call each other's rooms, they are right next door. When they come in, I stand on the outside of the door, and listen for the dead bolt. If you know your kids, then I think it is fine. There are so few connecting rooms and we have never gotten one even after requesting one.
