As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yesterday, I said goodbye to my best friend of 12 years. This morning, she left for Maryland where she will be attending college. Next week, I will be heading to Providence RI to move into my school. So yesterday, we spent the day together reminiscing and just hanging out. It was the best! I managed to hold off the tears until I got in the car to go home, but then I was a wreck. haha We have been through everything together from playing with Barbie dolls to graduating this summer (and also a Disney trip when we were 8...hopefully in a few years we'll be able to do one, by ourselves this time! ), and this is the farthest apart we have ever been from each other!
One of "our things" is Toy Story 3. It really fitting for us this year (and really hard not to cry during...oh who am I kidding, I bawled. She was slightly more composed than me...). It was so symbolic of us, and the credits song "We Belong Together" hit the nail right on the head, as well as the unforgetable "You've Got A Friend In Me." But it's definitely something we have to always think of each other, and I love that.
This is really a crazy time, and while I know a lot of people are going through it, but it's been on my mind for the better part of the week (or the summer...) so I thought that it would be nice to share with my PPer friends. I'm sad that I have to say goodbye to my friends, but I'm also really excited to start a new chapter in my life!
How are you all doing with changes like these? Those of you going to college yourself or sending your kids off or any new things happening with a new school year coming up? I feel like life is coming so fast! I know a lot of you feel the same!

I just want to wish you the best as you start a new chapter in your life. You and your friend will stay close even though you are apart. My best friend and I have known each other since kindergarten, which was a very long time ago.
Good luck with all your changes! The guys and girls I went thru grade school/high school with are amongst my closest friends still, 20+ years after high school graduation!
Lots of pixies for you both to enjoy the next chapter! I am still best friends with my best friend from HS Distance can move you apart, or bring you closer - it will be up to you guys. Embrace the differences you each experience, cherish the memories you have made, and look forward to making more memories together as you journey through college 'together'.
It's nice to be able to stay in touch with email, texting and Facebook. And you'll have such a blast when you come home for breaks. Its a big adjustment, but I think you'll still stay good friends!
I went to school in Providence Johnson and Wales. I loved it there. I loved going up by Brown to all the cafe's and boutiques and just exploring. I loved taking the public transportation up to Federal Hill (think that was the name) where all the Italian bakeries and restaurants and markets were and it was a piece of home for me.
Good Luck in school!

How wonderful to have a life long friend! Though there is distance between you, you will always share the bond of childhood memories and growing up together! I am sure you both will do very well in this next chapter of your lives! And it would be great to eventually start planning a fun trip to WDW for the two of you!
College years are some of the best years! You will meet wonderful friends!
to you as you embark on this new adventure!
The two of you will find a way to keep in touch. I've got two friends who I've known for over 30 years and tho we live in different states, our parents swear every time the three of us get together it's like we just sw ech other yesterday.
Thank you all so much!! Those really are the sweetest words of encouragement, and it definitely helps me feel more confident in my transition. Boy am I nervous! But I'm also really excited! It's so good to know that while things are changing and I'll have new experiences, some things will remain how they are. You guys are the best!!

I'm going to PC, and while I'm really excited for the school, I'm also excited to explore all the city has to offer! Thanks so much for your feedback!!

Good luck!! This was exactly how I was five years ago! I actually left home to go to school in RI also (Roger Williams University). It was great coming home on breaks since we all would get together and have tons of stories to share. I will let you know that although I have lost some contact with some friends, those that I have stayed in contact with I have found to be my true friends. One of which just got married last week. It was crazy to think we are now all starting a new chapter in our life, much like we did going away to college. But its great to know that we are there for one another through all these chapters. Have a great time!!
Have a great time. MY DD just graduated from Brown. Providence is a really great city for college students. I've always loved Thayer Street, although I'm not sure my DD appreciated it the year her dorm room was right on Thayer and the equestrian team usually left for shows before 6 AM on Satudays.
Enjoy yourself. And it's so much easier to keep connections with cell phones and computers.
