As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We had a wonderful 8 day disney vacation, we just got back last night. The resort is beautiful but it is so large. 2 years ago we stayed at POFQ and we will stay there again in the future. We thought we would try a different resort this time but it's crazy over there. so many bus stops in the resort, so many people, we had maybe a 5 minute walk to the main pool. We were in building 51 in aruba so just across the bridge. When we were in french quarter, it was such a relaxing, quiet resort. After a long day in the parks and so much walking the last thing we wanted was a good walk to the bus stop, the pool, coffee, anything. The french quarter was just a minute to all of the above. Dont get me wrong, anyone that has reservations will like it, but if you want relaxing, wrong place for it.
We stayed there last time..and yes..just like you..we are heading back to POR this trip..just something about Port Orleans that is just so much more like home..my DH definitely said we would never stray again from POR again
so funny, my husband said the same thing. I think it boiled down to fighting crowds and walking all day at the parks, we just wanted to have a relaxing feel back at the hotel. We surely did not get that at the CB. PO is defentely home for us from now on.

We stayed at CB last April, we had the preferred room w/ a short walk to the main building, no way I would stay there w/ out the Pref room, it was definately worth the money. We chose it since we hadn't been there before and got a $500 gift card.
French quarter, if you felt like coffee you could go get coffee and be back at your room in a few minutes. Felt like a swim, walk out your door and your at the pool and if you forgot anything go back to your room and then back no problem. Walk to the bus stop 2 minutes, done. CB I made sure I brought coffee and creamer for in our rooms. did not get resort mugs because it would not have been worth it. To much walking. I think the above poster is right about preferred rooms. But the resort still did not have that quiet feel to it. we had a great vacation and it was nice to experience another resort. They shoulnt make em that big! lol I timed the bus one day and once we got on it took 15 minutes to go around to all the other stops before finally heading out! French quarter always picked up first and dropped off first. I guess I just missed that resort. The pool at the carrabean was cool but very crowded. We ended up using one of the quiet pools for most of our stay. At least my daughter and us could swim without bumping into people. she did like the kids play area with the bucket that dumped so that was fun.

I guess it makes a difference on how much you like to spend time in the main food building. When we stayed at CBR I thought it was very relaxing, but then we were far away from the main food bldg and rarely went there (I agree though, the one time we had bfast there it was a madhouse!). We also chose to swim in our quiet pool, where we were always the only ones there. Sorry you had to deal with the big crowds, but now you will appreciate POFQ (my favorite resort!) even more next time you stay there!

I didn't like CBR at all. I much preferred POR. Even though it was large, there was something I didn't like about CBR. I was never able to put my finger on it though.

We just got home last night from staying at CB. It was our first time to stay there as well. We had stayed at both PO resorts and I have to say that while we did not hate CB. We certainly did not enjoy it near as much as FQ or POR.
We just booked a 10-day trip this October and really waffled between POR and CBR. We stayed at POR last trip for the first time and loved it, but thought it would be nice to try something new with the kids. Something definitely pulled us back to POR, so we booked there again.
So sorry you didnt have a relaxing experience at Carribean Beach. I stayed there one time and actually enjoyed it. Granted we stayed across the bridge and it was a walk to the main area but all in all I still enjoyed the experience.
We still had a great time, dont get me wrong, but we had FQ to compare it too. Such a different feel. A very small resort and a very large one. in the end after fighting crowds and lines all day I just dont want that at the resort too. We went this time of the year 2 years ago and in FQ you would never know there were crowds anywhere. One night after fireworks at MK, CB had the worst lines. No one else did. It took us 2 hours to get back. FQ buses came often but they really do need more buses for such a large resort. All in all it is a beautiful resort and if we didnt have FQ to compare it too I'm sure we would of felt differently. But everyone is different.
CBR is our favorite mod resort because of how large it is! We love staying in Aruba and being away from everything at OPR. It feels very relaxing and quiet to be away, and having all those quiet pools is nice as well. We also love the walk across the bridge. Oh well, I guess that's why Disney offers us so many choices in resorts - so we can all be happy!
