Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Will this work?

My daughter and I just decided to do MNSSHP!!! I'm so excited!

My question is: We are going to Animal Kingdom that day, and it closes at 5:00. We have reservations at Boma for 6:00 that night (birthday girl's choice).

Is it possible to keep my 6:00 Boma reservations, and make it back to MK in time to fully enjoy MNSSHP?

I read it starts at 7:00... will we be missing something great if we arrive at 7:30 or 8:00? (I understand they allow admission to MK at 4:00, but we want to stay at AK until it closes.)

Thanks!!!

Truthfully, if it were me, I'd move the Boma reservation to an earlier time and leave AK early. I've never needed a whole day to enjoy AK. And, I'd want to eek out as much time during the Party as possible.

Wow! Is it THAT much fun? I am getting more excited by the minute! As an adult with no little kids on the trip, do you trick or treat and everything? Just curious what we do there. It's our first time.

I would try to get an early dinner reservation either inside MK or at a hotel on the monorail. You probably won't be at MK until after 7:30 if not later if you keep the Boma reservation.

I'd try for an earlier ADR or something closer to MK

Remember it's a hard ticketed event and you are paying for all of the extras (parades/character interaction/shows/fireworks). I'd get there at 7 to make the most of it, espec. if it closes at 12.

Since your DD really wants to eat at Boma, I'd see if you can get an earlier ressie there. I know you want to stay at AK all day, but you can afford to leave for a 5 or even a 4:30 dinner. (We're open-to-close park people and don't need a full day at AK)

We loved the MNSSHP. I took my DD (then 13) and her best friend. They dressed up, I didn't, but we all trick or treated, and we loved the parade, music, and other special things, but what we loved most was seeing all the characters out (we had a great encounter with the Queen of Hearts) and the short lines for the rides.

OK... I will try to get earlier ressies at Boma, to make it to the party earlier. Good advice!

Would it be silly for us to dress up? Have you ever seen adults dressed up? I know it is probably a personal choice, but don't want to look ridiculous!

Dressing up is something my daughter was looking forward to.

Lots of adults do. I figure it this way, if you are paying THAT much, do what you want! MNSSHP tickets are not cheap, so try to get there as early as you can and get the most out of it.

My sister and I are going to the MNSSHP for the first time a couple of days before we leave on a Disney cruise, and we decided to go for it and dress up! On the cruise they have "Pirates IN the Caribbean" party where you're encouraged to dress up like a pirate, so we're using the same costume. I am looking forward to riding POTC dressed as a pirate! I'm such a nerd

It sounds like a very long day! You are paying a lot for the tickets and I fear that after the whole long day you may be too tired to enjoy. You didn't mention if you have a car but I know if I left ak took the bus to akl and then had to get back on to mk in such a short time that travel time would tired me out a little.maybe you could do boma for lunch or on another day? I tend to plan these long days and my family ends up giving up early and asking for room service. But every family is different, so I guess what I am saying is it is possible with good planning(maybe take a cab to get to mk to save time) but you should make the most of mnsshp, I am sure you will have a wonderfull time.

I would get definitely get there before 7pm, next time I go, I plan to be at MK by 5:30. Ahead of the crowd. Even though it is a separate hard ticket event A LOT of people attend. It took 45-60 minutes for us to get from the TTC to main street. There is so much to see. The rides have shorter lines but lines for pictures with the characters are long and you also want to get a good spot for the parade. I would definetely leave AK earlier, eat at Boma much earlier or move it to another day. I look at it as I am paying an extra $55 per person for this event, I want to see as much of it as I can.
