As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Custom t\'s for our special trip - need help!
Jeannie - Steal away! We got so many wonderful comments on our shirts and people were constantly asking me where I bought them. I told them a good friend (Figment1 aka Tammy) made the transfers and the ideas were given to me by friends on Passporter (Steve & Debi). Along with the birthday pin, Tanner got so much attention because of our shirts it was an absolutely great day for him!! (The cast members on Splash Mountain even sang happy birthday to him over the microphone and everybody in line applauded him.) It was fun to watch people reading the front of our shirts and then waiting until we walked passed them to see what the back said.
By the way, if you don't already have the sayings jotted down in your Passporter, they were:
For Tanner: Trip: $2000.00
For for 3 for one week: $500.00
Spending my 10th birthday with
Mickey: Priceless
For Us: It's my son's 10th birthday and all I got was this t-shirt (and on the back) and a trip to Disney World.
Definately DO IT! You won't regret it.
To Tammy, Steve & Debi, Thank you so much for your ideas, if it wasn't for you Tanner's birthday would never have been the success that it was! You guys are the best!

Re: Custom t\'s for our special trip - need help!
There is a place in DTD that makes custom shirts. They are very reasonably priced and they have tons to chose from. In fact, they are a lot cheaper than taking your shirt and idea to a t-shirt shop. (Remember, if you want something with Disney on it and you take it to a shop they cannot make the shirt as it would be a violation of copyright and probably other laws).
So, if you come up with an idea, I'll bet this shop at DTD can make it! If I could remember the shop and we could find the number, you may be able to call and see what they have. In fact, they may even bea ble to make it ahead of time and send it too you.

Jeannie do you have a wedding photo from the Wedding Pavilion? i use Kodka iorn on transfures and all you do is count seconds.Works all the time for me.If you can scan a wedding Pictuer and make a transfure from it the would be cool.and As you can se you can use fabric piant but remember it gets stiff and can get uncomfortable. Maybe for Shanes birthday you could do a saying that goes like this, you and DH I'm with the Birthday boy! and Shanes I'm the Birthday Boy!,With Mickeys on it. good luck.

Hey Robin/Forti are talking about Studio M at DTD? I had a golf shirt airbrushed down there in May with BIG Eeyore on the back and little Eeyore with my name where the "pocket" would be on the front.

Re: Custom t\'s for our special trip - need help!
I design garments for a living and have made my own shirts to wear at WDW. I know I am a bit of a way away but if you like I could press them and post them to you, if you can find no other alternative. I have 3 huge heat press machines at work and we often heat customers own transfer designs as usually conventional home irons tend to be a bit useless.
Cheers!

Custom t\'s for our special trip - need help!
Hi everyone
I know BethL. posted about this a few months ago - I think that's what got me to thinking about this and jotted it into my Passporter
Anyhoo, we are celebrating our 6th anniversary and Shane's 2nd birthday on our Nov/Dec trip and I'd like to make/have made t-shirts commemorating these events. Two separate sets of shirts, one for each day was what I had in mind. I've got Hane's T-shirt maker software but no Disney artwork software, so I imagine I should get some of that if I want to do this myself. The problem with that is I never seem to get the ironing part right not sure why, it either gets burnt or peels off
So the other option would be having them made up, which is no small $$$ (not that big of a deal, but I'd rather bring that $$$ to WDW!) and it doesn't have that homemade feel going on - am I making you crazy yet? Think how DH feels since I bother him about this daily
I guess, what I'm asking is - what would you do? And what would you have them say? I loved some of the ideas Beth got - but I won't steal them - so could you shoot some my way? I'd like the anniversary one to include that we got married at the Wedding Pavilion (I'm so proud of that, it was my DREAM COME TRUE! ) and I'm thinking Shane's for that day could say something like Mommy & Daddy are celebrating, blah blah blah - you get the picture!
Thanks so much you guys!

Re: Custom t\'s for our special trip - need help!
Jeannie, you should take them to Kinko's or another comepetitively priced place that has the "t-shirt press" to have them done. - Check the price for having them do the transfer as opposed to YOU taking it in. - They get tricky in their pricing but it's really worth the trouble/cost to have them done properly....Please fee free to PM or email me cuz I know what I'm trying to say in as few words as possible but I don't know that I'm getting my point across !
Also if you do the transfer yourself remember to do it as a mirror image....... ...........
