As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just wanted to share my excitement that DH and I received our new US World Cup jerseys from UPS last night. I am so excited!!! I got the white jersey with #10 Donovan on it, and DH got the blue jersey (which looks much less Miss America in person) with #17 Altidore on it. June 11 (US' first game) and June 14 (when DH and I leave for South Africa) can't come soon enough!!!!!!!
Thanks for letting me blabber about my happiness.

Very cool! My DH & DS are counting down to June 11 as well. They are hoping we don't miss too many games while cruising in late June/early July. DH already asked DCL if they'd be showing games, and they aren't sure about satellite rights while on the high seas!
Have a FABULOUS time in South Africa! Go Team USA!
Cubfancolleen - I sure hope you guys get to see the games on your cruise!! DH and I are going to miss a couple on our flight to South Africa, but I'm hoping the pilot will update us (been on flights before where pilots gave out sports info) during the flight (all 17 hrs of it...)! Our trip home is on rest days between the rounds, so we'll be good to go then. Glad to hear there are more US soccer fans out there! Sometimes it feels pretty lonely, unfortunately.

DH & DS are thrilled that they'll be going to a DC United vs AC Milan game next week!
My son has a whole collection of World Cup-themed t-shirts he's wearing on the cruise. I have told him that he cannot wear the "Yanks are Coming" shirt while we are in England!

That will be a really fun game they are going to!
Aw, mean mom! England is the PERFECT place for a "Yanks are coming" shirt!! jk, I probably wouldn't let him wear it there either. English fans kind of remind me of Philadelphia Eagles fans (no offense to anyone out there!)...they can get a little out of hand. In fact, the only game I'm a little nervous about going to is our first game, which is an England vs. Algeria game. I'm of course going to be rooting against England so it should be interesting. DH and I have pretty much an entire wardrobe of US world cup shirts that we will be wearing in South Africa. DH is obsessed with the "Don't Tread on Me" snake/flag, so he has about ten million of those shirts. I just pick whichever ones are the prettiest.

****TANGENT start****
I'm an EAGLES season-ticket holder. We've gotten a bad rap for throwing snowballs at a drunk Santa Claus 45 years ago, and a few snowballs at Jimmie Johnson of the Cowboys. A lot worse things have happened at NFL stadiums since then... How about the LA Raiders fans beating a Steeler fan unconscious in the LA Coliseum? How about the NY Giant fans throwing snowballs at the San Diego Chargers bench and knocking out their equipment manager?!?
****TANGENT end****
My oldest and I have white USMNT jerseys and my youngest has a blue USMNT jersey that we'll be wearing proudly at Lincoln Financial Field (home of the dreaded Philadelphia Eagles) on May 29 when they play Turkey in their last "friendly" before heading over to South Africa.

That's awesome that you're going to that game! Have a great time and do some extra GO USA screaming for me!
About the Eagles thing...I will admit I am slightly biased being a Cowboys fan. But, I truly have never seen "fans" like the ones I saw when I went to the Eagles/Cowboys game in Philly a few years back. I was so mad because my dad (my parents lived in Philly at the time) wouldn't let me get all decked out in my Cowboys stuff. Once I got there, and saw how the other Cowboys fans were being treated though, I was SO happy I wasn't wearing it. I should have gotten the hint when we were driving in to the stadium area and there were a bunch of vendors with shirts that said "F*** DALLAS" on them (um, but without the asterisks). That said, I am sure you are a much classier person that all that, (even if you do like the Eagles...) especially because you are cool enough to appreciate USMNT soccer! Aren't the new jerseys great??? Did you and your kids get #s on them or did you go with the blank ones?

..as for the Cowboy fans mis-treatment - the majority of them are front-runners who live in Philadelphia and root against the Eagles - they like bringing attention to themselves, and it's on comparison to the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry..... the bootleg shirt vendors for that rivalry is no worse than what you'd see near Fenway or Yankee Stadium when they're playing each other...
Being a Boston fan, I do definitely hear alot about Philly fans in general. No matter the sport people seem to say they are the most rowdy fans. Hey there is nothing wrong with being a passionate sports fan as long as people don't cross the line, where ever they are from.
I'm not big into soccer, but the jerseys sound cool! I know the whole world will be watching the games...

I say as a Cowboy fan who grew up in the greater Philadelphia area. Anybody who was Dallas gear to Eagles-Cowboys is a moron. They are just asking for trouble. When my parents had season tickets, I would go to the Dallas game. I would wear all my Dallas gear under whatever else I was wearing and sit there and watch the game. Say nothing and react to nothing. I saved my emotion of the car ride home.
My parents had tickets in the 600 level dangerously close to the infamous 700 level.
It was, also, never really a problem in the mid to late 80s when the Eagles were down. However, it started to get really bad during the Jimmy Johnson-Buddy Ryan battles which occurred right at the beginning of the "sports radio" era and everything mushroomed from there.
In my opinion, fans at Philly sports events were never really bad until the 24-hour news cycle and the "reputation" of Philly fans got around. Now, some people feel that they need to live up to this reputation at every game.
