As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has one of these Flip Video Cameras. I've been watching it on QVC and HSN and reading about it online and it sure seems like it would be much easier to carry on vacation that my regular camcorder.

Its really just a low end point and shoot style of camcorder. All the hipe
makes it look good but it will not take the video that you would be proud
to show your mother!!
I have a Panosonic Camcorder. It is really small but between the charger and the CDs and the case, etc. it's so much to carry on the plane. I probably will though because I want to cherish our memories at WDW and don't want low quality videos. Thanks for your opinion - you are probably right.
Well, my teen does love his. He got it for Christmas and thinks it is the coolest thing since....well whatever teens think are cool.
The best part of it is there is no cord to lose. It plugs right into the computer. This from the family always looking for 'the' cord.

I tend to agree with most of this except the proud to show your mother part...because my mother enjoyed watching some videos I took with it . Anyhoo, if you are looking for a camera to film birthday parties, soccer games, weddings etc...do not get the flip unless you plan on just filming quick stuff.
I have the Flip ultraHD. To start, I am totally against video cameras because I have no interest in watching videos of myself or my future children...etc later in life. I prefer photos. I didn't even have my wedding filmed. With that said, DH wanted to get me something that I could take quick videos with so we could post them on our website, facebook, youtube or show people/family short clips of whatever. For those reasons the Flip does its job and does it to OUR expectations...it was inexpensive and fit in my purse. The HD picture on it is halfway decent (expecially in lowlight conditions..fireworks) and the sound comes through well too. The software is straight forward as far as editing goes too. the only thing that I don't like about it is that the zoom doesn't go very far, but other than that it does it's job.
I got one for Christmas and it is what it is, a quick way to record small things here and there that you might not have recorded because you don't have your regular camera or video camera with you. Anyone looking for more out of this camera needs to rethink their purchase. Overall the picture and sound quality are just fine but the zoom is next to nothing. I'm happy with it though as I'll keep it in my purse and be able to record little bits and pieces of life.
One of my friends have one and I got to check it out a little bit yesterday. I really like that option. Definitely get the HD version and also he said when you upload them to YouTube or another source on in the internet will will take forever. If you get a HDMI cord then it will take 1/2 the time. I guess they also have one now that has a replaceable battery, that is another new option which sounds good to me. I've checked Amazon.com and they have them there for a little cheaper

I thought about getting my teenage daughters one for Christmas. It sounds like they would love it. DD#2 can shoot videos with her camera and does post some on youtube. Maybe I will get them one for their birthday. Although it would be a present I could justify lugging with us to WDW next christmas.
