As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
At the Concourse Steakhouse in early 1999, I got sprayed by a bottle of wine. It was our bottle and the waiter was having trouble geting the cork out and........it got me on top of my head. Due to a lack of hair up there, it just kind of beaded up and was easy for the waiter to blot up. My kids also think it was the funniest thing to happen. No damage done and the waiter was horror stricken.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
A few years ago we were waiting in line for Star Tours in MGM, in the middle of the hot summer heat, in very long lines.
Dad was standing behind me, and I turned to say something to him, and just about jumped out of my skin when instead of seeing Dad -- Chubakka was standing there!
I screamed so loud that I guess the CM thought I'd make a good show, so Chubakka continued thru the entire line with us -- holding my hand! And, when I tried to let go, the CM just held tighter and I actually had rug-burn from the costume on my wrist!
I was single at the time, and must have always appeared on the prowl for a potential boyfriend, because my sister still jokes about how it was probably a girl in the costume.
Either way it was cool to have that kind of experience, and we still laugh about it often, as I was really scared the whole time!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
Well for me I have had a few funny moments at Disney. I guess the best one for us was when we stayed at the Yacht Club and had the Kitchen Sink (I have pictures of the monster) at Beaches and Cream. After eating and eating and EATING, we decided to walk over to EPCOT and see the countries. Upon walking past a DVC booth, I start to hear clapping. Come to find out they were clapping at us! Why you ask? Well come to find out, the people that worked there were at Beaches and Cream! Everytime someone orders the Kitchen Sink there, they make an announcement to the whole resturaunt! So the DVC CM were clapping at us and asked us if we had finished it or not! We got a good chuckle out of that for the rest of the day.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
This maybe isn't the funniest of all time, but it gave us the giggles when it happened ...
It was raining; we were at Epcot. For some reason, my mom put a park map between her knees. (Trying to put on a poncho? Didn't have enough hands, whatever she was doing. Anyhoo....) The map, her knees, and everything else was soaked ... and Mom ended up with a park map tattooed on her knees!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
I can't believe I'm telling you guys this, but here it goes...
In 1999 my DH's older sister lost her husband. He left 3 kids, one who is one of the neatest kids I have ever met (and she is a teenager) and two very spoiled girls. These two get what they want and throw a fit if they don't get it right away.
SIL decided to take the girls to WDW and asked me to go along and help her (I should have listened to my mother-in-law, she told me I was crazy going with her daughter and her children). I also took my niece, Stinky.
We went to the MK on our third day of the trip (and boy was it ever a trip). We went to use one of the litterboxes before lunch. My youngest niece, who was 6 during our trip, saw someone purchase a feminine hygiene product in the restroom. My niece very loudly asked her mom what the woman was buying. Then my niece informed all of us that she wanted one as well. When her mom said no (first time for everything here), my niece threw herself down on the floor and started kicking and screaming, "I want a ******! Buy me a ****** now mommy!"
I just looked at my oldest niece and Stinky and we just burst out laughing. If I would not have just used the litterbox, I would have wet my pants.
This trip taught me a very important lesson... Always listen to my mother-in-law!

When we went in 1997 It started in MK in front of Tony's Chip and Dale were out and about and Chip had taken some kids water and drank it, He walked over to me and I told him he could use me as a towel,so he wipe his face. The Next day we had brackfast at the Garden Gill in Epcot.I was sitting and eatting when everything went black and I heard Kissing Noises, and relized it was one of the charecters.I was laughing so hard and was amazed to find out it was Chip!My mom thinks it was the same CM from the day before,I done know but I like to think thats true.I concider it CHIPMUNK LOVE! Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
I'm not sure if this is a "you had to be there" but here goes..
After an evening of fine dining and DRINK at V&A's 4 of us (adults on the trip together) got on the monorail to head back to the Poly.
Someone left a bag of chips on the seat and I (I wasn't TOO tipsy) kept poking at it with my finger. My friend next to me couldn't take it anymore.
He yelled, "Give me that!" and promptly grabbed the bag and tossed it across from us. The bag burst open in the air and chips flew everywhere.
At the time it was the funniest thing ever. We were laughing so hard we couldn't breathe. I'm just glad it was very late and we were the only ones in that car.
I did get a picture of the chips all over the place too.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
I think this might be in the "You had to be there" category, too, but here goes...
My MIL is a chronic worrier, and also a sort of "doom and gloom" kind of person, who figures the worst is going to happen at any given time. When we were in WDW in May, the wildfires were burning pretty close to Orlando, and they had made the national news. She had spent most of the week prior to us leaving warning us about the fires, and how we shouldn't be going, yada, yada, yada.
So Monday night, we are leaving MK to go to our off-property house, when my DH gets it in his head to call MIL from the cell phone. Of course, the first thing she asks about is not if we are having a good time, but if the fires are threatening us. Well, my DH couldn't resist. He said, "Oh, yes, they are right at the gates. In fact it's so smoky we can't even see." He went on and on,embellishing as he went, and then the other couple we were with realized what he was doing, so they chimed right in: "Watch out for that burning tree!" "Oh, be careful, that fire truck just missed us!" Then my MIL asked who was driving, and my DH said, "One of the firemen, it's the only way we could escape." But he couldn't keep a straight face anymore, and she caught on to us.
I think we seriously jeapordized our Christmas gift prospects that night.

Well it didn't happen to me, but I was there and saw it all! We had dinner at Liberty Tree with Minnie and crew, well watch out Mickey cause your girl found her another man...my son Who is extremely shy. Minnie gave him over 20 kisses in a hour. She would walk by us and kiss him on the head. I didn't know a 6 yr old could turn so many shades of red!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
Well here is mine - actually happened to my wife on our last trip earlier this month. It was the middle of the night at the AKL. We kept the light in the bathroom on with the door just very slightly cracked so the room wouldn't be pitch black. Well, my wife gets up at least once a night to "go". For those of you who have stayed at the AKL, you know that there is a full length mirror on the OUTSIDE of the bathroom door. Well as my wife walked groggily (is that a word) to the bathroom she saw an image in the faded light coming from the bathroom door - thinking an intruder had entered the room, she screamed bloody murder - I mean I'm suprised that the animals didn't stampede because of her scream. It was only after I was awaked along with the kids that she realized she had seen her own image in the mirror! I laughed so hard I couldn't go back to sleep! ROTF!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
We were going into MK on an EE day, off season, very few people. Pluto came out of one of the areas and I SCREAMED "OH my God, its PLUTO!!" and started running. Pluto looked at me, middle aged crazy woman running at him and pretended to run away (at least I think he was pretending). I then realized - It wasnt REALLY Pluto. Then my kids (then 12 and 14) started laughing hysterically, so did I. We walked to Pluto who gave me some big old hugs and I took a picture. The kids still talk about when I scared Pluto and we still laugh about it. Just the old Disney magic taking hold

My niece has always been a little stinker. Well, now she is a big stinker as she just turned 13 yesterday and she is 2" taller than me.
I have always called her Stinky or Stinky Winky. She has always been very precocious and some how I jsut gave her the name.
