As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

"All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
I can't really sing, but I was just wondering where everyone is this evening? No one seems to be here, so what did you do this evening? Did you have a hot date, a family outing, a football game or......?
Dh has been away (hunting in Colorado) since October 31 and doesn't return home until this coming Wednesday - November 14.
Let's see how many different things y'all did this evening!

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
Well......... I think I am in the same situation as you Laura. DH is hunting in Canada and isn't due to come home until Friday or Saturday so I still have another full week to myself
This afternoon I went with DD and her friend shopping for a couple of hours... this was fun.
Right now I am watching Sandy, Zeek & Maggie all huddled together waiting to see which one is going to grab the bone first (which is sitting in the center of them.... hehehehe bet you it will be Zeek. He is extremely quick for a little guy (dachshund)

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
Hi Laura!
I went shopping today. I figure if my luggage could be rummaged through at the airport, I had better get seem brand new undies (what are the men on this board going to say to that one!!! )
Home made pizza was on the menu for this evening. Both of our kids abandoned us for supper this evening, so it was just hubby and I. My youngest (J-Bug) went to watch a friend play hockey and I drove the oldest to the movies. I guess you could say I'm alone tonight...my husband is watching 2 hockey games on the t.v. now. Trust me, I could walk naked through the house and he wouldn't notice a thing! When hockey's on, he notices nothing else!
Thank goodness for these boards!

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
We went to go check on the house that we are having built. The first time we went they were putting in the carpet. We then went to look at window coverings (why did we buy a house with 20 windows?), got some lunch, then drove back to the house.
The carpet layers were done so we went in to check out the work. The carpet looks good, but the holes they put in the wall made be a tad bit cranky. They also must have dropped the carpet role on the banister going up the stairs cause they ripped the banister out of the wall.
Only 25 days until we sign the next 30 years away!

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
So funny that you posted your message.
Since I have to casts on my feet I can't get out that much. They are walking casts. I went out for breakfast witha friend and then sat on line most of the day. Checking any new posts. Wondering why no one was posting. Just came back for seeing Domistic Disturbances. Very good movie.
Casts come off on Thursday and I am going dancing on Friday

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
I took my roommate out for dinner at Outback Steakhouse for her birthday. Unfortunately for me ... I really dislike their food ... but she loves it and it was her birthday.
Now I'm sitting here hanging out with all of you

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
Tonight I had a hot date...if by "date" you mean sitting in my room and typing up a 6 page term paper and by "hot" you mean boring and depressing...

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
Let's see, I woke up in St. George, S.C. and we drove literally all day to get home to NJ after our week at Disney World. First thing I did after putting the kids to bed was to check the boards, (of course!) I'm going up to bed but I'll tell you all about my adventures tomorrow.

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
I made some jewelry to sell next weekend at a craft show at DH's office. When DH and DD#2 came home from the HUSKER game (WooHoo!!!) we watched Mission Impossible on television while I continued to make jewelry and DD#1 talked on the phone to this boy , who is moving next weekend .

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
I am with Mr. Carioca, if you would define HOT as a feverish seventy year old man..if you define DATE as planting a tylenol suppository up into no mans land for him. I guess you could say I had a hot date.
Sometimes I find myself rethinking my career decisions.
OH! Shelly-Canada! I am laughing so hard about the undies thing! I just insisted that my mom go and buy new undies for her trip to vegas,,,just incase they rummaged through her bags! You are not alone,, the underwear thing is now running a close second as to why I don't like to fly!

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
I to had a hot date !!!
Took my boys to see Monsters Inc! (Cruella & my youngest saw it last week, but my oldest & I didn't)
Great animation!!!
Then did some shopping, and then to home.
At home I finished insulating the atic (has only taken me 4 years!! ) and putting down some flooring! Boy was that fun!!
But then we got out the suitcases and started getting some of our things ready for our trip!! 19 Days 15 Hrs 28 Mins 40 Secs to go!!!
Once the suitcases are out it seems all that much closer!!!

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
I gave my nephew's fiance a shower yesterday. I spent all morning getting this house just so and fixing the table. Then had a housefull of people. My living room is about 12x15 and I had invited over 20 people. Thankfully several guests didn't make it. Fortunately for the happy couple they sent gifts. Then I spent the evening cleaning up and washing dishes. DH just hollered for me to get moving - he wants to go to the flea market. So I guess I'm off. Later. mary

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
Well, I worked yesterday morning/afternoon and then I went with two friends to see Luciano Pavarotti in concert! He is awesome. He had a beautiful soprano singing with him in between his numbers and of course, they did a few duets.
Today, I'm doing stuff that is way more sophisticated like cleaning bathrooms, doing laundry. I'm finally had a chance to sit down, catch up on the boards and write more of my trip report.

Re: "All alone am I ever since your good-bye"
DH, DS & I went Christmas shopping today and I'm happy to say I'm almost done Had a nice day at the mall, not too crowded. Also got to pick up DS Shane's Christmas pictures from Sears...too cute if I may say so Came home and had some left over pot roast (yummy) and ran to the boards to post the happy birthdays for the week
All in all, a good day!
Peace ºoº
