As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

The good news: after months of agonizing pain in my left heel, I'm finally on the road to recovery. The diagnosis was a trifecta of problems - plantar fasciitis, heel spur and an arch that's starting to fall. (sigh. )
The bad news: NO MORE FLIP-FLOPS or (cheap, unsupportive) SANDALS!!! I live for summer and all of my many cute and adorable flip-flops. My orthopedist has vetoed anything that doesn't support, cushion and secure the heel (meaning it needs straps around the ankle). (double sigh.)
Sadly, I have to agree with him as I tried to wear 'normal' sandals when on the cruise with Maureen and I really paid the price when I got home. The pain returned almost immediately and I set myself about 1-2 months back with the progress I had made with physical therapy so the doctor really does know best.
If you have any suggestions or recommendations for supportive sandals that don't look like my grandmom's orthopedic beauties, I'd be grateful! I've searched around and found different sites and manufacturer's but would love some first-hand input. These shoes are SO EXPENSIVE so I'm trying to do as much footwork (pardon the pun! ) as possible before plunking down big bucks.

BIRKEN STOCKS ARE A GOOD CHOICE AS ARE DANSKO SANDLES AND MEPHISTO SANDLES try going into a store that specializes in comfort shoes like the walking company or in the washington dc area there is comfort one shoes im not sure whats in pa but try google local for comfort shoes
I have plantar facisits (thanks AF PT for all that running on asphalt) and my Crocs are actually very helpful and comfortable when I am not wearing my trainers with arch support inserts. Not sure how medically sound that is, but I can walk all day in those things and not feel even a twinge of pain.

I have to agree with Danielle.
I can wear my crocs - and croc sandals and I don't experience the pain of the plantar facisits at all. In fact - while in Florida last month, I wore my croc sandals all of the time and didn't have a problem at all. When I got back to Indiana and had to wear my regular shoes -
My DB-in-law has plantar fasciitis and is helped by inserting heel cups in all his shoes, including sandals he wears around the house. My understanding is they help by lifting his heel. So while I love birkinstocks, I think they are designed so that your heel is lower. I just looked at a pair of mine that have a very traditional design and they look like you could put a heel cup in so it wasn't very noticable.
I would take a trip to a shoe store that sells corrective shoes and try on what they have. You may find something that is attractive but supports.
My DD riding friends wear a lot of DAnskos and they do hold up really well. I like the look but I know others find it bulky.

I have to agree with Danielle as well. I suffered from Plantar Facisits and the Crocs are great. I would NEVER wear sandals to any event where I would be on my feet alot, but have no problem with the Crocs. I can't wait to get a new pair for this summer.

I've been living in Crocs and Birks the last few years since DJ and I fell down the stairs and I broke my foot. I tend to rebreak it whenever I wear the wrong kind of shoes while walking a lot or on vacation, so I have some Dr. Scholl's gel inserts for my other shoes. I'm gellin'!
Birks, Crocs, and Keen sandals for my bad feet. I saw someone with some seriously blinged-out Croc sandals at the AK last week...wish I could have taken a photo!
