Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

BAD day!
DS#2 came to meet me at work today because we decided to adopt a cat.
When we got to my car, we discovered that the passenger side window had been broken, and the CD player was gone. This is the second time this has happened in two months; the first time was in front of house two weeks before our Disney trip.
DH's car has also been vandalized in the same manner - twice in two months in front of our house.
But, it gets worse. We still decide to go and get the cat, in the car with the broken window and glass everywhere.
We go to the humane society and pick out a beautiful grey short-hair that is one year old. Her name is Chloe, and she is very laid back. We love her! We stop at PetSmart on the way home and get all the supplies for her.
We are home about an hour. Chloe seems a bit anxious in her new surroundings, but gets her bearings a bit and is laying in the living room. DS#2 is upstairs in his room. I go outside to clean some of the glass out of the car and on my way out I see Chloe laying in the living room. I come back in, and go to the kitchen and then hear the door open and someone going upstairs. It is Gonzo, home from work. I go into the living room, and DH comes in carrying on about the cat. Chloe is nowhere to be seen. I thought perhaps DH scared her with his yelling, but I guess the cat is gone. We don't know how she got out, but she must have, as we have searched everywhere. She is declawed, so I am really upset that she must be out on the street.
Please send some pixie dust and prayers our way so that Chole is okay, and hopefully, that we find her.

Re: BAD day!
tikibird, don't give up hope yet. When my mom and I adopted Pipsqueak, he hid under a bed for about 2 weeks. He would only come out to eat and then he would run back under the bed.
Last month when we moved, I couldn't find Pipsqueak anywhere in the apartment. DH and I looked everywhere for him. I was terrified that somehow he had gotten out.
That night I heard his precious siamese "Neooow" (not meow, it's neooow) coming from under the recliner. It took us two days to get him out from underneath the chair, only for him to hide in the closet. Two days later, he finally came out of the closet.
When cats are scared, they can hide really well. I'm sure Chloe is hiding in a very good spot somewhere in your house. Just open a can of tuna fish (the people kind), put it in a bowl, and she will come out to eat. You may not see her, but she will get hungry. You might even want to put a can outside for her.
Major Pixie Dust is on it's way to help you find your kitty.

She must have REALLY been hiding! DS#2 found her in the dining room. Now I still need some pixie dust that DH will let her stay!

Re: BAD day!
Gee...Pixie Dust sure does act fast when a kitty is missing!
Don't worry about DH, tikibird. When I was in 3rd grade, a cat "followed" me home from school. When I asked my dad if I could keep he told me he'd "think about it." 13 years latter we had to put my little Orphan Annie to sleep.
However, just in case, I am now sending, "Let DH say we can keep the kitty" Pixie Dust.

Re: BAD day!
My mom has had a cat for 3 years that no-one has seen. (yes, we have considered that she's just a little "wacky") and my little bro. has one that hides every time the kids are over.
She'll be ok, glad you found her. DH will recover and probably be her biggest fan. That happened here.

Re: BAD day!
We have 4 cats - George & Gracie, Sophie and Jack. People think we are making 2 of them up! (Trust me the litter box says otherwise! ) I'm very glad you found her. Give her a couple days to get adjusted and I'm sure she will be fine. Don't worry - the first time she naps on your DH's lap he'll be a goner too!

Re: BAD day!
Debe,
I am quite good at crying - thanks for the tip!
As for Chloe, we found her hiding place - I have a Disney Town Square recreation of Main St. in the corner of our living room. She found how to get behind and under it. Smart kitty - likes Disney - must STAY!
DH called from work giving me tips from his friends there on how to care for her. There IS hope!
I'll keep you all updated!

DH is toast. He was just petting Chloe and talking to her!
I do believe we have a new member of the family!

Yippeeeeee!
What's the saying?
"The bigger they are, the harder they fall."
Looks like DH may be falling!

Re: BAD day!
Ahhhhh! These guys act big, bad and tough but when you get right down to it, they have a soft hearted core.
I knew he would come around It's that first initial shock of seeing another critter that gets them and once they settle down... POOF! That soft heart starts to show Give Chloe a welcome hug for me.

Re: BAD day!
DH started the tirade again this morning, so Miss Chloe is nowhere to be seen again.
He said I have to take her back to the Humane Society today, but as I can't find her, and had to take the car for repairs because of the vandalism of yesterday, oh well!
Am not looking forward to his return at dinner time.

Re: BAD day!
Gee, that's too bad you can't find Cloe to take her back to the DFL.
Me thinks you need to train her to hide when DH is around. Maybe he won't notice her if she hides.

Re: BAD day!
Your DH sounds like mine. He doesn't like pet surprises especially cats but over the years he has been getting better. Pacey my tailless cat was a gift from our son. Pacey was a dock kitty and was going to be put down. Pacey is now part of the family and DH even talks to him. Hang in there as their is still hope. How good are you at crying???? Shhhhhh!!!!! This always works for me when I want to keep a pet that is non hunting related
