As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Uh-OH.......
Well, I've officially made my DH nuts! Last night I sat down with my dear PassPorter and my DH says before I ever opened it-NO DISNEY TONIGHT!! Can you believe that there are people in the world who don't want to hear about Disney non-stop? Well I guess for the next 32 days this wonderful board will have to be my support group !! Just wondered if anyone else has this problem, lol.

Re: Uh-OH.......
I have a DH just like yours! Though, he may not want to eat, sleep and talk Disney once we have a vacation in the works, we still have no problem convincing him that Disney is THE vacation destination year after year!

Re: Uh-OH.......
My DH grudgingly goes to WDW every year but he has been known to stay in the room most of the time. At least he doesn't discourage me from going!

Re: Uh-OH.......
Believe it or not, my 8-year old daughter is the one who's heard enough! Every morning when I'm eating my breakfast, I read my Passporter and make more plans for our trip in July. My DD usually says, "Mommy, you've read about Disney World too much now!" I try to tell her where DW is concerned, there's no such thing as too much!

Re: Uh-OH.......
Whew!! At least I know I'm not alone!! And I have to say that, while I have always truly loved Disney, I didn't realize how addictive this is, but hey we all have to have our vices . My DH thinks once we get there I'll have this out of my system but so far as I can tell this "illness" only get worse-darn, lol!!

Re: Uh-OH.......
Hubby doesn't say anything, but occassionally he'll give me "a look."
He IS coming around, though, I have to admit. Another ten years, who knows?!?! I'm an optimist.
Meanwhile, DD and I are having a BLAST planning this trip!

Re: Uh-OH.......
DH is the one here. He would prefer that we cancel our ressies and just stay home. Of course, once we get there he gets into it about as much as our 3 kids, but in Nov. we are also taking 5 other teens and he is dreading it. He tried to convince me yesterday to go w/o him and he'd go to Canada and go fishing!

Re: Uh-OH.......
Speaking from undercover experience (under the alias John Tapioca), I can say that it's all relative. My mom likes to make crafts, sometimes all day, and my dad likes playing around in the stock market, he's always giving me hour long lectures on how the market works, and it makes me go NUTS!!! I don't know how someone can make craft or play in the stock market all day, just as they don't know how I can spend so much time analyzing WDW. It's a wonderfully dynamic society we live in where anyone can have an obsession they love, and hate everyone else's

Re: Uh-OH.......
Hubby loves Disney, but doesn't always want to obsessively plan like I do! I mean, I've got a tentative PS schedule ready for September, but he doesn't want to review it yet. I'll pin him down soon though...

Re: Uh-OH.......
I'm so glad we all have husbands that all feel the same way. On the last trip the only thing he really enjoyed was taking a water mouse out by himself. His philosophy is" been there done that". As we pulled away from our hotel he looked at me and said "Let's not come to Disney World for a couple of years." Well in Sept. I'll be there without him!!!I am addicted, can't help it!!Life's short, so I want to spend as much of it as possible at Disney World!!!

Re: Uh-OH.......
I am VERY lucky to have Mushu1 who is almost as obsessed as I am. He indulges my constant reservation changing and my PS obsession. He'll even pretend to be interested in my itineraries.
However, the rest of my family thinks I;m crazy!! They just don't "get it". My DMother in particular thinks I'm strange for my love of all things Disney. "Why do you keep going back? Don't you want to go other places?" Well....Not really!!!

Re: Uh-OH.......
Here, it is my wife who rolls her eyes. She likes Disney, but can not understand why I have to check this board two or three times a day. What keeps her from coming down on me is that my 9 yo daughter is even worse than I am. She sees hidden Mickey's everywhere we go. I keep my mouth shut and let my wife deal with DD. My wife once said "Why don't we go to Hawaii?" My daughter replied, "Ma, we've already stayed at the Polynesian, and you did not like it. Remember?". That moment was priceless.

Re: Uh-OH.......
My DH likes Disney but wouldn't go as far to say it's his favorite place (with the exception of Disney Quest). Which is how get him to go back.
I think he is pretty tired of my constant planning, but did get excited when I made the PS for Coral Reef and Rainforest Cafe; since he is the one that insisted that we eat there.
We am taking my bestfriend. It will be her first trip. So my excitment and planning is great to her. I think before it's all over (109 days, 13 hours, 10 minutes, 43 seconds....) he will be crazy. The only thing that might keeps him sane is the thought of meeting up with his bestfriend that we haven't seen in almost a year.
