Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Talking 09/18/2010- WBTA Bringing the Magic Home!

We're so EXCITED!!!! Can't wait to be sailing on the Magic again...only 23 more months to go!

DH and I are sailing sans DS - he will be a sophmore in HS and can't miss that much school so he will be staying with my mom. This will be our first real vacation without him since I was pregnant.

As of right now, we're planning on flying to Dublin on 9/15 and then on to Barcelona the evening of 9/16. Hoping to hit WDW for on 10/2 and 10/3 before coming on home the evening of the 3rd. We might have DS fly down the morning of the 2nd and pick him up at the airport before heading over to the parks. We're going to do all our own travel/hotel/transfer arrangements this time so lots of research in the future.

We booked this cruise the first day this could be booked. We had initially booked a category 10 as this was the only inside cabin that was available. However, I kept my eyes open for a category 11. I am one of the rare people who prefers the single bathroom in category 11 to the split bathroom in category 10 and above. So we are now category 11 GTY. We are hoping to do our vow renewal on this cruise.

Talking Us too!

We have this booked and I am so worried about being on the cruise for 2 weeks with so much "at sea" time with DH & DS (10 when we cruise)! I did a similiar cruise when I was about 16 with my parents and sis. I remember being soooo bored but then it wasn't Disney & I was 16.
We were looking at flying into Dublin as well. It looks like that will give us the least expensive flight and maybe we can spend a day there.
Anyone spending a day in Barcelona? Hotel ideas? One day trip in Spain?
I'm looking forward to the newest edition of the PassPorter Cruise Guide that will include info for us to use!
I know this is on another website but there is more here: Pirates sailing the Atlantic

We are in - doing a B2B

We booked the first day - stayed home from work to book because it was that important to us. ( What pressure that day)
This summer I did my first cruise - the EB Panama Canal Repo Cruise,,, Now I'm hooked and have a family "7 Day Magic Cruise" with my DD, DSL, DS & his DGF this July. This will be their first cruise (except DGF- she has done Carival cruises - I keep telling her I think Disney cruise are a wee bit different.)
Back to the WB Transatlantic - right now my cruisin buddy from FL and I are booked in a cat 9 for the Trans and a secret porthole for the 10 day Med,,,,My fingers &/or computers were just not fast enough to nab both cruises in the secert porthole room for both.

Anything new?

Has anyone found anything new to add? I want to book my airfare so badly. Any ideas? Suggestions? DH is saying he would rather spend a day or two in Ireland and then head to Barcelona on the 18th but we are still debating. he is trying to get over the whole "I don't speak their language" thing.

DH and I are also booked on this cruise. We will spend 7-10 days visiting family in Spain, and then cruise home in style!

I'm hoping to be taking the WBTA 2010 sailing with my dad. I'll be checking into booking it onboard when I sail in October 2009. Right now the pricing is really reasonable for the Transatlantic ($1750pp for a cat 9), compared to the regular European cruises - airfare is where is gets a bit high. If we do it we'd go into Barcelona a couple of days early to make sure we (and our clothes) don't miss the ship. I did a bit of checking into Barcelona hotels, and the ones DCL has recommended in the past are like $350-$450 a night! I did fine the Hotel Nouvel, which books for around $175 a night thru Expedia. It seems a bit more basic, but should be fine and is in the area where you can walk to La Ramblas. Here is a link to it, in case anyone is interested in checking it out:
Hotel Nouvel, Barcelona, Spain
Neither of us have ever been to Europe before, but this just seems like such a good deal!

Hey sorry forgot to come over here and post. We booked as soon as the cruise became available. Me and my BF Dan are coming on the cruise and from the looks of it my Mum, Dad, Sister and BinL will all be coming with us (although they'll be booking last minute probably). I can't wait! My copy of 2009 passporter was due today so hoping that I can find out some more info. Done 6 cruises although BF has done none, and 2 of them were the last 2 Disney TA's so I'm assuming alot will be the same.
