As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I’m so excited!!! I just found out I’m going to WDW in October. Whahoooo
This October 12, will be my DSis's 50th birthday. We originally planned on going to Disneyland to celebrate because the last time we were there was in 2003. Then DSis changed it to Las Vegas?! I was bummed because although Vegas is fun, I would rather go to Disneyland!! Now, she's going to take off 3 weeks, still do Las Vegas, but add a trip to the east coast. She wants me to plan everything - I love it!! I think I like planning as much as going on the trip itself.
Here’s the plan so far:
October 12-15: Las Vegas (Excalibur)
October 15-18: Drive from Richmond, VA to Lily Dale, Ny (The spiritual Capital of the US) and then onto Niagra Falls.
October 18-19: Drive back to Richmond, VA (my house to recoup)
October 20-??: Drive from Richmond through NC, SC, GA to Orlando, FL (WDW!!!)
We are planning on taking the drive from Richmond to Orlando slow with many stops. Maybe spend some time in Savanna, GA and see the plantations.
Any suggestions on things to do, sights to see, and/or interesting places to visit between Richmond and Orlando would be greatly appreciated. I have done the drive several times, but we usually drive straight through with only stopping for rest, gas and/or food. This time we want to really spend sometime enjoying the scenery.
I have a lot to plan and I want to add some surprises for her along the way. I hope I can still get some decent ADR's for October?!
Please send me any ideas for fun things to do, surprises and/or just general planning tips. I want this to be a trip to remember!!
We happened across this place The Blowing Rock on a road trip one year. What makes it unique is an area where if you toss something light over the rail into the canyon, the wind blows it back up to you. It is absolutley beautiful. Not to mention cheap and you can easily make it a quick stop or take your time. If I was driving through the same area again, I definitely would make time to stop by.
If you haven't seen St. Augustine, FL yet then you should definitely try to work that in. It's just south of Jacksonville. The historic area is really beautiful with an old fort and Flagler college in walking distance. I used to live in that area and I just loved walking around down there and taking in all the sights. You can also take tours around the area and learn about the different buildings. They used to have ghost walks at night but I'm not sure if they still offer those. There's so much more to that area than just the outlets off I-95, but those aren't bad either.
Enjoy the planning! When you go to Savannah, go to River Street and eat in a place called the Shrimp Factory. The food is amazing, the portions are huge and the prices are pretty good for it to be seafood. There are lots of little shops and restaurants on River Street and its right by the water. You'll love it!
I would suggest stopping by Charleston SC for a day and night. It is beautiful and not too far off the track.
No, I haven't been to Charleston, SC. I will definitely check it out. From what I have seen of South Carolina it's a beautiful state.

I just found out I’m going to WDW in October. Whahoooo 
I was bummed because although Vegas is fun, I would rather go to Disneyland!!

I think I like planning as much as going on the trip itself.
