As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Jennifer's post about her upcoming wedding inspired me to ask those who are married...
Do you have any unusual stories to share about your wedding?
When DH and I were married, we owned and taught a martial arts school - so of course, we had a built-in reception hall with our huge workout room. We decided to save money and get married right in our school!
DH built a 'pagada-themed' arch for us to be married under and we had a cake shaped like a castle with a little ceramic dragon in the doorway. DH cut the cake with his katana (Japanese sword.)
AND - DH had written me a song when we first met. He had the song recorded at a friend's studio, DH playing guitar and singing and I walked down the aisle to "Every Dream Come True." (And not to brag or anything but several people we know have asked to use that song for their own weddings - it is beautiful.)
At the end of the ceemony, after the 'you may kiss the bride' part and then the new couple get 'presented', we decided to end the ceremony like we would a martial arts class. One of our instructors came up and gave the command (in Korean) "Attention!" and then "Bow" - we bowed to each other and then shook hands and said, "Good job, ma'am/sir!"
For our processional, we used the "Star Trek Next Generation" theme!!! (We're big sci-fi fans.) Oh, it was so much fun to 'personalize' your wedding - and have your guests appreciate the reasons behind it all.

I am not married, but I went to a unique wedding once.
The bride and groom met on an MTC bus while commuting back and forth to work. One thing led to another and they ended up deciding to get married. The story made the news, and they ended up having an MTC bus as their limo at the wedding. For them it was very fitting.
Not really an unusual story but fun trivia - DH and I got married in the same chapel where Billy Joel got married - not to Christi Brinkley but his first marriage.
Before I got married I used to wear my tennis shoes until they were really, really broken in. My soon to be DH hated it when they were so worn out. So just before the wedding, he threw the offending footwear away and bought me a new pair. Well, the offending footwear made a wedding appearance, when he went for the garter guess what he found , along with the most obnoxious pair of toe socks (remember those) my maid of honor could find. Everyone in the wedding party was in on it, and all of our family were laughing soo hard. You should have seen his face.
Well I was late for the ceremony because the limo driver couldn't find me then couldn't find the church. Talk about needing GPS in limos 7yrs ago and a month before our wedding there was a fire at the reception hall, my bridesmaid dresses went missing simply because UPS put them in my daughter's stroller which was hardly being used at the time. UMMMMM, other than that my mom walked me down the aisle because my dad had passed away a few yrs earlier. So in her corsage was 1 white rose which would have been in my dad's boutionerre so that was special for us. Not to mention that my own DS & DD were the ringbearer and flowergirl. This way no fighting with other relatives about why their child wasn't in the wedding. Simply because MINE were! lol...
I had gotten married the weekend before Thanksgiving. I didn't know until the week before that the Christmas parade was scheduled for the afternoon of the wedding. We needed to cross the street where the parade was and the police took forever to let us cross. The priest wondered why all the women were late.
We were married in the Chapel at Fordham University, and had a reception across the river at Eagle Rock Reservation. Our view overlooked NYC and event hough it rained a bit in the afternoon, it began to clear and there were huge rainbows over the city view. And at night, without our knowing or planning, there were fireworks! It was wonderful!

We were married on Father's Day (since hubby also became a father to oldest 2 DDs that day) in our grape arbor in our backyard. It was June, so the grapes were all leafy and pretty. We set up chairs for our few guests and I draped the arbor with cream chiffon. My Dad was in charge of the music and my Mom was the photographer. He wasn't supposed to walk me down the "aisle", but after he hit play on Vivaldi's Four Seasons, I grabbed his arm and walked with him anyway. I'm glad and so is he. Our house was under renovation, but I was able to disguise almost all of it for the reception. I did a huge fruit-in watermelon-basket thing plus meat and cheese trays and we had the cake delivered. It was lovely, although it was VERY hot that day. All told, I think we spent $300 on the entire thing and it was a perfect day.
BTW, my FIL told me I had to go outside for my wedding gift, so he walked me back to his fields and he had planted PUMPKINS for me! He knew I love to cook with fresh pumpkin, so that was his gift (and he plants them still, 13 years later...awwwww!)

We had a "rock and roll" type wedding. I had my bridesmaids walk down the isle to a classical version of “Just like Heaven” by the Cure I walked down to “Yellow” by Coldplay. Our recessional was the original version of “Eight Days a Week” by the Beatles. I had a guitar as a guest book for all of our musician friends to sign. We also had menus printed w/ Beatles (my fav band) and Led Zeppelin (his fav. Band) as watermarks in the background. We also gave out CD’s as favors.
I had to throw in something Disney so we had a hidden Mickey Cake w/ a Mickey/Minnie topper.
I love the Karate wedding (esp. the cake-cutting part) and Happy Anniversary Dyan! We had a lot of quirky things about our wedding (the ceremony was all me, the reception was all dh) but one thing that was funny, when the priest turned us around to introduce everyone to Mr. and Mrs., the plate that the rings were on broke on the stone floor and made a glassy crash and DH leaned over to me and said "Mazel Tov!"
Happy Anniversary, Dyan!!
Nothing unusual about our wedding. I was late as usual - about 20 minutes - I realized I forgot the groom's cake about 30 minutes before the wedding was to start - and I made a comment to my Dad right before we walked down the aisle which made him stop dead in his tracks and say a bad word in church!
