Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What do you do between trips?

I was just wandering how other folks kept the magic going in between trips to the World?

I find myself addicted to the boards and almost dreading my trip in April, because I love having it to look forward to!

I find myself watching the free videos they send, visualizing daily that I'm there, and checking these boards frequently. Oh, also I find myself listening to the RoE and ToN cd frequently!

What do you do? (I'm going to need a list for when I get back, b/c DH is not looking at any trips in the foreseeable future! )

Re: What do you do between trips?

After my trip this summer I'm sure to be addicted to this board and I'm sure I would try to go another time but I will begin to save money and read to learn more to save for the next one
People here in travel agency make money they don't save us money maybe I return to school to learn travel agency and could buy trip for our people and then they save money

Re: What do you do between trips?

That's easy, start planning anyway. I have found that my DH will all of a sudden mention something and I can give him room rates and such to put the seed in his head. I also am hopeless in the sense I compare other places to vacation (not like I ever would go) but then I can show my DH that WDW is really economical compared to other places. Also this helps past the time.

Re: What do you do between trips?

I read the Passporter message boards and my books on Florida in between trips. After all, it is never too soon to plan for the next trip to WDW. I also travel to other areas of the country. Planning for those trips takes my mind off the fact that I'm not going to Florida anytime soon. When I do make it to WDW, I enjoy it that much more!

Re: What do you do between trips?

Three Disney boards (this is the best by far), Disney Magazine, RADP, help friends, neighbors and complete strangers plan trips. Approach strangers in restaurants and ask them if they are DVC members.

Re: What do you do between trips?

Plan and save, plan and save. The boards are a part of planning, of course.

You mentioned listening to the CDs. I was working on taxes Tuesday night listening to the Fantasmic! CD when DD came running into the room to tell me DS (7) was crying. Sure enough he was just sobbing his little heart out. I asked him what was wrong and he asked me to turn off the music. He said it made him miss Disney World too much. What a sweet boy he is.

Watch videos of past trips. In fact, DH has one in right now! Luckily, I can see the TV from where my computer is!

Re: What do you do between trips?

I know, I'm in the same boat right now. I get all sad and depressed when I see the new 100 years of magic commercials on TV. I have several work friends asking me to help them plan their trips & cruises, and for the moment that makes me happy, but ultimately I'm wishing I was planning for myself. DH & I have been back for 10 days and we have honestly been depressed and not in very happy moods. I haven't even brought myself to look at the digital camera pictures yet. I am going to wish I was still there. I got 2 new CD's this trip; SpectroMagic and Magic in the Streets and I haven't listened to them yet.
Re-reading this has made me realize maybe I need to see a shrink!!!!!!!!!!! No, I truly love Disney, even while at work today I was looking online for WDW job openings. I found an administrative assistant position at WDW Swan & Dolphin in the Catering Dept. !!!!!!! That got my hopes up - but know that since DH & I just bought a new home here that we'll be here a while. I just want to be closer to WDW, closer to my dream of being a part OF that magic, working there, in a job where I am excited to go to.
Ho-Hum...thanks for listening guys. These message boards get me through long months of no Disney trip planning. Looks like it may be a VERY long time before we're able to go back. So anyone headed there - have some magical fun for me...I'll be wishing I was there too.

Re: What do you do between trips?

Hey Chantal-
We'll use you as our travel agent when you get certified! You can plan for all of the Passporter group to get together!

Between trips, I watch the planning videos and listen to the CDs. I also visit this site every day and dream about our next trip.

Re: What do you do between trips?

I am so grateful for some advice I read before our last trip. Can't remember who said it, but it was here. The advice was to start looking for your next resort during your trip. We did that and I began planning for the next trip before the first one was even over. I love that! I haven't had any boo-hoo sessions because I am focused on the next trip. Thanks for whoever said that.

Re: What do you do between trips?

Next to the boards and reading my PassPorter of course I love to listen to WDW park music at disneytrips online radio -- click "disney trips radio" on the left at Soctt's PS Calculator page. Thanks Scott

That's usually the first thing I do whenever I get online. There's nothin like a little park music to carry you to the next trip.
