As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yesterday was such a weird day. I can't remember the last time I called 911 for anything, yet yesterday we called 911 THREE times!
Yesterday morning, DD came to me and asked if my DBF knew that the trunk was open on his car. She could see his car in the driveway from the bedroom window upstairs. I asked if he was out there, and she didn't know. So I went downstairs, and he was sitting at his computer. I asked him about it, and of course he knew nothing other than that couldn't be a good sign. So we went outside, and discovered that his car had been broken into. Whoever did it broke the passenger side window, so that it was shattered. They then ransacked the contents of the car, glove box, and trunk-taking a small amount of cash. The worst part is that the window needs to be replaced as well as feeling violated because someone crossed that line and went through his stuff. So we called 911 to report it, and they told us what we needed to do to file a report.
Fast forward to yesterday afternoon. DBF came home early from work to look at his car and see what he needed to replace the window himself. The car was in the driveway, and while he was working on it a truck with several men in it parked in the vacant lot behind our house and proceeded to dismantle and strip a Vespa-type scooter that they had obviously stolen. DBF didn't realize immediately what was transpiring until they hurriedly took off leaving the trashed remnants of the scooter behind. So another call to 911 to report that crime. The police came and we talked to them for a few minutes. The "criminals" had stripped the VIN number off the scooter so there was really no way to trace it. They discussed home security issues with us for a few minutes and then they were off. They said that they would make sure the city picked it up, but as of this morning it is still sitting there.
Then last night we were trying to chill out and watch TV after a rather stressful day when the doorbell rang. It was this rather shady character trying to "sell" a home security system. I didn't trust him at all especially since his story sounded fishy. Having just recently read an email update from the police department about possible door-to-door scammers in the area, I then asked to see a copy of his peddler's licence. He started to squirm then saying that he didn't have it with him, but "he could get a copy from his boss." Sure he could. I then told him that we didn't buy things from door-to-door soliciters, so we definitely were not interested. He still wasn't anxious to leave-asking us before we left if we knew our neighbors and whether or not they had security systems. After we shut the door, I started thinking that maybe we should report him. So I found the email, and it did request that you call 911 if anybody was suspiously soliciting, especially without a license. So back to the phone again for one last call to 911 with a report of the incident and a description of the soliciter.
So here's hoping that today is a better day with no calls to 911! So when was the last time you called 911, and why did you call?
We got a security system after someone tried to break in to out house about 10 years ago. I feel so much better when my DH is out of town knowing that we have the security/monitoring system.

That will be one of the next things we plan on doing.
I called 911 several years ago to report a fire in a house at the end of the street. Hopefully, I won't need to report anything like you've had yesterday! that today goes better

Hope you have quieter days ahead of you. I remember the last several times I've called 911. I've called them late Sunday night/early Monday morning the third Sunday of June in 2005, 2006, 2007 due to noise from the carnival that sets up in the school field next to me taking stuff down, packing it up and moving their big diesel semi's around as late 4am. (I say late because it never stopped during the night) and the last non carnival related 911 call was because someone (I'm assuming a male) rang my doorbell at 5am was standing in such way that I could barely tell there was someone there and was still there 20 minutes later. Called 911 and whoever it was left before the police could get here.
Location: Cypress....Deep in Southern Illinois, close enough to see the Kentucky blue grass

I called 9-1-1 about a month ago. While Kevin and I were driving home from the Elks we ended up behind a VERY inebriated driver. I called (Kevin was driving) and told them exactly where we were at, what kind of car it was, the plate number, the color everything.
What happens?
We finally see a county cop sitting at the side of the road a few miles up the road. What does he do? He pulls out behind us and drove the opposite direction. We stayed behind this driver for about 15 miles till we got near our road to home. In the mean time the fool was all over the road ran 2 stop signs and and almost hit another car.
Last time we called it was a medical emergency. I was really relieved to read that you had three 911 calls and none of them were related to a serious medical issue! However, I'm sure it was horrible to have three seemingly unrelated theft incidents in one day! I hope you go a long long time before needing 911 again!
I've never called 911 myself. Other people have dialed if for me, like after an accident or something. Once I was rear-ended but didn't have to call 911 - the highway patrol was 20 feet away, responding to another rear-end accident (which was what caused the guy to hit me - he was looking at the other accident! )
I did call *HP (highway patrol) last fall when I hit a deer. Once in my office a coworker accidently dialed 911 (you have to dial "9" and then 1 and the number to call long distance - she hit the "1" twice). She hung up, completed the call and then left her office for a minute. The 911 folks tried to call her back and when she didn't answer, the police came running into our office. It was scary, and she was so embarrassed, but nice to know they have a quick response time!
A few years back I had to call 911 on a regular basis because we lived near a dangerous intersection near Cincinnati. We, and our neighbors would be woken up at weird hours of the morning by a telltale boom of two autos colliding. There were so many wrecks there they finally after a few years of this happening put in a traffic light. Since we moved to the country, however, I have only called 911 one time, when my DS fractured his forarm in two places falling from our Sycamore tree last june.
Heres hoping your corner of Minniapolis gets a little less criminal traffic! Take care of yourself!
My goodness what a time you've had. The last time I called 911 was to report a theft at Christmas several years ago. I came home from work and found my outdoor Christmas decorations stolen from my front yard. The officer stated it was probably kids, but of course nothing was ever found.
Hope your day is going better. The last time I had to call 911 was when DH fell out of his wheelchair and we couldn't get him up. I have had to do that several times.
