As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I am trying to figure out the best way to do this for my DD(10). I know we loved HBS the last time we were there, but I want to make it special while saving money. HELP!!!!
I don't believe that she needs the entire costume and pictures at BBB so that might help save money but what are my other options?

BBB has 3 pkgs:
Smallest/cheapest: hair and makeup
Medium/Moderate price: Hair, makeup, nails
Largest/Pricest: Hair, Makeup, Nails, Princess dress, assoc, shoes, Photo pkg.
You can choose from one of 3 hairstyles.
Any one using BBB can do photos on photopass, buy photos at WDW or from home thru photopass account., Photoshoot also included.
There is a photpass person in BBB taking pics throughout experience and these pics are added to photopass card, you can also go to photo studio for more pics and have these photos added to photopass card. YOU ARE NOT CHARGED UNTIL YOU CHOOSE TO BUY. I personally buy CD and print photos at walmart.
I know my last BBB treatment was around 50.00 with tax. I did medium pkg.

I'd do the BBB. You don't have to get the costume and extras. The girls can now choose between three different hairstyles or the Hannah Montana package. They do a great job and the girls just love all the attention they get. It was absolutely worth the money for the experience. (We did the hair/makeup/nails package) You are welcome to bring your own camera and the photopass photographer is there as well if you get the photopass.
I would do the package that fits your budget. If your DD had a costume bring it with her. She probably will want to take it off as the day goes on. She can also do the Hannah Montanna package, but I think you have to buy the whole package. I think it was over $100 but I am not sure. Maybe someone here knows more about that.
Bring your own camera and also get a photopass card and have her picture taken. At the end of your vacation you can decide if you want to buy the pics or not. If you have a lot of pics thru photopass I would probably buy the CD, I Believe it is around $125 but I am not sure.
They treat the girls so good at BBB. They are wonderful! The experience is what you are paying for. We did the middle package and brought our dresses from home. They loved it!
The Hannah Montana pkg is a little over a $100 and you get a t-shirt, mic, hair, make-up etc. They didn't have it yet when we were there last month. Otherwise, my DD5 probably would have been torn between the two . . . princess or Hannah?

I would do BBB. They are only little once and you will always have the memories. The girls look so beautiful and people in the parks always stop and admire them. The extra attention the girls receive is wonderful.
(here I go again... ) Please remember that BBB is NOT a hair salon and the Fairy Godmothers in Training are licensed hair BRAIDERS, not stylists. The diva, pop princess, and HM package all come with hair extensions/add-ons/wigs. The Princess' real hair is pulled (twisted/braided) up into a bun and the extra hair is added to that. With the basic package, they also get hair ornaments (Mickey bling clips, Mickey crystal hair pins, etc), light make up, usually some stick on jewels, lots of pixie dust, and a nice sash. They are given a pretty bag with "frou-frou" handles to carry the extra make up/nail polish (if they get it).
My DDs did the hair/nail package. I priced it out and if I bought the things they used on them separately (not including the sash, they didn't sell one at the time), it wound up being about $10 for the experience of letting someone else do it. WELL worth the money, IMO. They still play with the pop princess/diva extensions and still wear the hair clips/pins several times a week. They got a lot of play out of the make up, too. If I'd paid more attention, we could have preserved the "jewels", too, but those wound up getting lost a few weeks after we got home.
11yo doesn't like her hair "done" for very long, so she washed hers out right away. 9yo, LOVES her hair, so we let her sleep in it (took out the extensions, they are basically scrunchies, easy on and off), then put the extension back on the next day. A little hair spray to freshen it up and she looked like new. She did this for 3 days before we finally made her wash it out. That hair didn't go ANYWHERE.
I think 10 is a great age to splurge a bit on the experience. She's getting to the point where she'll be "too cool" for it (until she hits about 18 and she'll want to do it again with her friends!)
