As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hi guys
We are going on this cruise in July and plan on flying into LAX to use our miles up
We will come in the day before the cruise leaves. Any suggestions on where to stay and how to get to and from the hotel to the port without renting a car
Thanks for the help
We sailed in 2005. We flew down the night before stayed using points at the Hilton in Long Beach. So we were able to splurge a bit on transportation. We got a limo to pick us up at LAX take us to Long Beach come back the following morning take us to the pier and then come back the following Saturday when we arrived back in the states and take us back to LAX. All included cost us $250, which we didn't think was too bad. Since we go to DL each year we didn't make a special trip this time and why we could splurge a little on the limo. The kids loved it!
This might be a silly questions But how far is LongBeach to the San Pedro Port. I was looking at the hotel option in San Pedro and there doesn't seem to be that many. All your help is so appreciated. A limo might be a great option. We are a family of 4 traveling with 2 grandparents. More suggestions.................................

Long Beach to San Pedro...just a hop, skip and a jump
San Pedro is also called the Port of Long Beach. It is less than 10 miles from almost anywhere in Long Beach. You will have many more choices of a place to stay in Long Beach than in San Pedro. You can get a taxi or a van from your hotel to the port and it should take you no more than 15 to 30 minutes at most times from most places.
There are several hotels close by Long Beach Airport which you might consider if you are flying in there. I would not advise staying near LAX if you are flying there, but if you do, you could still easily get to San Pedro in 30-45 minutes by taxi.
Long Beach to San Pedro...just a hop, skip and a jump
I just noticed you posted twice and that you will be flying into LAX and not Long Beach. Here's another good site to check out which will give you some ideas on transportation between LAX and San Pedro and also give you a couple of ideas on hotels that are near the World Cruise Center in San Pedro if you want to stay close to the port (Port of Los Angeles - Recreation & Tourism - Cruise Passenger FAQs)
Good luck on your travels and enjoy your cruise!

San Pedro is where we are staying (with points). They have a Holiday Inn and a higher end Crown Plaza that are close to the post (I believe about a mile or so). The Crown Plaza has an agreement with Enterprise for drop off. Enterprise has vehicle rentals at LAX so we are getting one there and seeing family/friends prior to the cruise. Then returning the car on Saturday at the Crown Plaza. Enterprize is the only rental company that is close (and open or allows drop offs) in the San Pedro / Long Beach area. So as you can tell I have done my homework on this and have all my reservations in line for both hotels and rental vehicles..... Good Luck.... were on the 15th of June Cruise!!
Thanks for posting this information. I'm just beginning to do my research and you've saved me lots of legwork. We have never rented a car before, so I'm a little clueless, but we're thinking of seeing DL, Legoland, and San Diego Zoo after our cruise. I've got a lot to do before June!
We found a hotel in Longbeach, The Best Western of Longbeach, which had a good rate and many positive reviews on the Trip Advisor website. Thanks to Bills' links we are going to reserve a shuttle for 6 of us from the airport to the hotel We are thinking of doing a one-way rental from the ship to the airport but haven't decided on that for sure. Has anyone ever done that? or have a better idea

Can I clarify something? So you are staying at the Crown Plaza or just dropping the car off there before the cruise?
Someone was telling me that car rental places charge a drop fee, sometimes as much as 100.00. So does this mean if I rented a car at LAX and wanted to drop it off before the cruise in another place, I would be charged a drop fee? I haven't rented a car before. So for most rental places other than Enterprise, I would pay this drop fee if I didn't return it to same place it was rented from? Sorry to be so dense about this!
you have to check with your particular rental car company... with most in an area it is not a problem... the drop fee is normally with rentals from one state to another.... but as I said I would check with your rental company. As for us... we are staying at the Holiday Inn which is a few block from the Crown Plaza... (Crown Plaza is the upper end of Holiday Inn). An Enterprise Rental Car can be dropped a the Crown Plaza for Enterprise. I didn't find any others that were open in the area that met my needs... In fact I found place for Hertz that was closed at some point on Saturday and not reopening until Monday and they would charge until Monday even though the rental was returned on Saturday after they had closed. So make sure you check all the little details!!
