As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Help! Please read all my info before deciding which you think is best for me:
I am a Social Studies teacher at the local high school and so I have to conform to the district calendar. My boyfriend and I decided to maybe go to Disney for a long weekend over Memorial Day weekend 2008. However, after realizing that Easter is in March and I still have a week off in April next year I thought I would look into going during this time.
Here is my reasoning:
1. All of my dates have the same crowd projections from TouringPlans.com so it doesn't seem either time will be more crowded, both will be less crowded than summer, and less humid... AND Epcot's Flower and Garden Festical will be during both dates!
2. There is no way May would interfere with school BUT if we use up too many snow days I would lose days off of the April break. (If I went with April I would postpone to either May, June, or August in this case.)
3. Since I only have off Friday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend I would have to work the day we leave for vacation and the day after we get back.
4. It seems MK is closing at 7 one night during the April week which has been speculated as a possible Pirate and Princess Party date.
So it looks as though April is a better choice, more comfort with chosing days and flights AND on top of that the chance to see P&PP... but I may have to postpone if we use to many snow days.
From your experience and my info what do you guys think I should do? I want to make my ADRs and put down a deposit soon.

I would chose April....by the end of May is will be getting humid, April still has some cool air blowing around so it probably will be more enjoyable...
Also while there will be some people on their Spring Breaks at that time, the Spring vacations are so layered around the country that I think the crowd levels should be decent...
And the worse case scenario is that if you lose the days you can still postpone till May....
I almost think it would be worth it to shoot for April and maybe give myself the buffer of going Tues-Sat instead of Mon-Fri which would allow for 1-2 give back snowdays should it happen. I could always just wait on my flights to see how the winter is going- ya know? Or make ADRs for May or my back up days, as well and then just cancel once I am sure April works out, ya know?
Mel, it sounds like you have all worked out already! I voted for April as I have been before and the weather was so much more comfortable. Based on the information that you gave us, it sounds like your trip would be more magical going in April

I went for April. In our experience, the Flower and Garden Festival was at its height when we went in mid May. I think by the time you get to the dates you're looking at, it may be past its best. That's why I voted the way I did.
It sounds like April will be best with your schedule. You have a bit of wiggle room, so you won't be so rushed. Good luck with your decision, I hope you make it soon, so you can get on with your planning!
Wow... thanks for all your votes... I guess you could tell I was skewed towards April myself... the only thing holding me back is the prospect of using more than the alloted snow days... in which case I am toying with possible "snow dates" and I think if we go with April I will just make ADRs for my back up week and whatever the wind brings in the wind brings in.... ya know?

That's when I am planning my trip with my mom.

Thanks, I def agree. I posted another thread for other teachers to help me decide what to do. And I think it would really be worth it to go in April if I can so I am going to take percautions just in case and hope that if we do use all of our snow days we don't need to give back more than 2 days. If we do, it obviously wasn't meant to be and I will have to find a better time to go. I like to wait to book air travel anyways so its not a big deal if we have to leave Tuesday evening instead of morning if I owe work the day. And if it is more than 2 days I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Keep ur fingers crossed for me that NY has a mild winter!

That is spring vacation week in most of CT and MA, but we went that week once, and it wasn't bad at all! And the weather was perfect
