The "Our first trick or treat w/ Mickey, and Daddy is dressin up too!" PTR 10/24-10/30 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The "Our first trick or treat w/ Mickey, and Daddy is dressin up too!" PTR 10/24-10/30 UPDATED 11/4
Well, I am still new to the boards, but I have been planning this trip till my ears are about to fall off and I figured I'd throw it out to the group!
Where
Pop Century (havent stayed there before, but looks like the kids will like it, and dad says its a good resort.....cant complain about the price either!)
When
October 24th through the 30th
Why
We went to WDW for a late honeymoon last October with the kids, and to be totally honest I really wasnt too keen on going. I have been several times as a kid during the summer, and once when my DD was 4 with my ex-wife, and to be honest, while I enjoyed it, peak season and dependant on the company, it wasnt what I would have really thought. But we went last year, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! The kids are old enough to really enjoy it, and my DW and I had a GREAT time. I already made my mind up to go back this year before we left last year!! This trip my DMIL was supposed to go with us as well, but she died in an accident in March. My DW and I had talked about it, and with the plans we had already been making, there was NO WAY this trip wasnt going to happen, DMIL wouldnt have wanted it any other way.
We have bought seasonal passes, and the DDE, and hope to make this a new thing....going to WDW any chance we get with school and money permitting.
Oct 24
this is still slightly up in the air, my DD is in her first year of middle school, and they have end of semester tests that day, if we can pull her out early, we hope to make it to check in and possible catch Fantasmic, if not we'll make check in and TRY to get some rest
Oct 25
MEMH at MK. DEFINATELY taking advantage of those. This whole day is dedicated to MK with a break around 3 in the afternoon. After a nap, its into costumes for the MNSSHP!! DW will be a Roman Goddess, DD (11) will be a princess, DS (8) will be a red power ranger (w/muscles) and I will be a baby in a car seat!! DD has ressies at the BBB @ 6:30 for the finishing touches, then its OFF TO TRICK OR TREAT AND RIDES!!!
Oct 26
After the long day @ MK, I figured the least I could do was help DW relax, so @ 9am its off to GF spa for a swedish massage!! While she is there, we will head to FW to purchase tickets for the Haunted Hayride! Then its back to get DW and today is the day for EPCOT!! We have ADR at the Garden Grill for 12, then its off to catch the attractions, and as many wine booths as possible! We'll head back to FW for the HH and then back to EP for the EEMH.
Oct 27
Today will be the MGM day, but first we must start with the most important meal of the day....Ohana Character Breakfast!! After socializing with Lilo and Stitch, its off to MGM, this is the first time ANY of us have been to MGM, but we have already made the "must do" list. After spending most of the day @ MGM, its off to DTD to shop a little and meet up with some friends for dinner and drinks!
Oct 28
This is actually a "whatever park we want" day, but to start the day off, DS will be going on the Bayou Pirate Adventure. We will then fill the middle of the day up with whatever suits us, but @ 7pm, its off to the Sandcastle Club for the children. DW and I will grab a bottle of wine and head for our carriage ride @ PO @ 8pm. I am having a tiara with a rose corsage delivered to the ride for her as a late anniversary surprise!! (dont tell , its a secret) She will have to wear it on the ride so that she can be recognized as my princess!! After the respite from the children, its back to get them and finish out our "whatever we want" day.
Oct 29
Today is the MEMH for AK, so that is where we will begin, and peruse the park until our 11:45 ADR at the RC. After lunch we will finish until AK closes and then its off to roast marshmallows w/Chip and Dale @ FW!! (this seemed like a really neat respite from the park, and only costing the marshmallows, how could I pass?) After indulging in more smores than any of us need, its off to MK to take advantage of the EEMH.
Oct 30
It is currently my plan to leave around 1pm, which will give us some time in the park of our choice, and still allow us to be home in time for the kids to get up and go to school the next day. I will have to say, this will be the hardest day, but the light at the end of the tunnel is we will be counting back down to a 3 day December trip!!!

I love your plans, especially how you worked in a little time with your DW. I got a little teary when I read about your carriage ride and her surprise. She is going to love it! It sounds like she has had a rough year so this will probably be extra special for her. I can't wait to hear more!
Sounds like a great trip so far. We stayed at POP in April and loved it! We'll be at ASMu from the 25-31st. Also hitting AK and MK on the 29th. Hope your family has a wonderful trip!
What a romantic for getting your DW a tiara with flowers-how thoughtful!!
I'm sorry for the loss of your DMIL-like you said, I'm sure she would still want you all to go and have a terrific time. What better way to honor her memory!!
I would LOVE to see pictures of this costume planned for you-a baby in a carseat?!?! This I've gotta see!!
You'll really enjoy Stitch's breakfast @ O'Hana's! We surely did-so much so that it's a must-do for each trip!!
Hope you have a very wonderful trip and please take lots of pictures to share in your trip-report!!

UPDATE!! 10/07
I just found that some rooms at POR are only $110 a night, so I have booked the last 3 nights of our stay for POR. I am excited to see one of the "mods", and at only $30 extra a night, I didnt feel I could pass this one up.
