As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

As I am sitting here contemplating what to scrap and what to bring to this weekend's MOA6 meet at Archiver's, I thought I would throw out this question, "What do you bring with you to a crop?"
I tend to overpack and that makes my bag really heavy. Inevitably no matter how much stuff I bring, I forget that one item that I really need. Here is what I am thinking of bringing:
My new Sizzix toys (Stencil alphabet, Ellison design Tag-a-long which is the same as the Sizzix sidekick, and the bookplate diecut)
My WDW 2005 album for show and tell
My England 2006 album which I am currently working on
Several DCWV solid paper stacks as well as my Basic Grey paper stack
My Rubbermaid box with all my tools (scissors, glue, tape etc)
My photos, of course
My idea books and layout sketches
My bag of brochures, postcards etc from our trip
My Fiskars cutter and a ruler
Is there anything that I'm missing??? What would you bring?
I was just thinking of this topic too. I've never scrapped at Archivers so I don't know what I need.
I trust they will have a good paper cutter (guillotine style -- I don't like the slidey ones much)
I'm bringing my Creative Memories cutters (oval, circle) and mat
My personal trimmer
My solid papers and the file of "travel" papers and die cuts
The pics and memorabilia from our St Louis trip
Blank Creative Memories pages (I'm leaving the album at home)
More photo splits than I think I'll need

I usually bring everything but the kitchen sink when I crop. But, I am going pretty "naked" to MOA. Just my pictures and a pack of paper. Plus my one Creative Memories bag of tools (pens, scissors, etc.) I'll also bring my Xyron X, and my Dymo because they are pretty small.
The crops I go to usually run from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening & are about an hour+ from home. I want to make sure I take everything I might possibly want. A lot of what I take doesn't even get touched. The good thing is that helps keep my spending down (some ).

Thanks for reminding me to bring my Xyron X as I use that quite a bit!
I haven't gone to a regular crop in so long, I'd forgotten! I used to use a Longaberger magazine basket, if it didn't fit, it didn't go. I'd take pages and photos, usually left the album at home. Adhesive, pens, CM cutting system, personal trimmer, Crop a Dile, and any embellishements that worked for my layouts. The rest, I'd just count on the shop to have. :grin:
The Scrapper's Dream Vacations packing list, boy howdy, let me tell ya! Those things involve elaborate shelving units, decor, and corkscrews! I will NEVER giggle at the people who bring 3 rolling bags into Archiver's ever again...
Are you bringing your Cricut? I wasn't planning on bringing my cartridges, but I can if you are going to bring your Cricut. I have 4 cartridges.
If not, I am leavning it all at home. I remember last time I had to lug all of my stuff through the Mall of America because I parked at the wrong garage! I am packing light this time.
I take all my paper - in the hopes I'll use it up and have to go buy more! I have an Action Packer full of paper! I bring scissors, paper trimmers, my circle and oval cutting set from Creative Memories. I pick through punches and edgers and bring only what I think I will use. I bring lots and lots of adhesive because I go through a lot. I bring most of my stickers. I have them sorted by subject, so I can pick out which folders I need and leave the others at home. I always bring my chalk set and my ribbon.
But the crops I go to last from Friday evening through Sat. night or Sun. morning, so I pack in the hopes of getting a lot done.

I am downsizing what I am bringing. If I don't have it along, I can always get it at Archivers!
You downsized, and I upsized! I had more stuff than I could have possibly used in a single day, and then some. This comes from lack of planning on my part -- it was Saturday morning and I had things to do, so I just threw things together and brought it all.
I always bring too much and always forget something! This year I brought 3 paper stacks "just in case"...but I didn't use one sheet from them because none of them were just right . I didn't bring any of the other pattern paper and needed that so had to buy some . I brought lots of things I didn't need!
I think 3 or 4 of us wanted clear corner things to hold special pictures in place (so you don't use glue on back of photo) and NO ONE had any along...
