As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Me: Karla (38) certified Disney-aholic. I have been to Disney at least 15 times. Disney is just the place where I can go and be totally relaxed. I hate to have to come back home to reality.
DH: Sonny (40) has been to Disney 7 times. I have to add here, we went to Disney on our honeymoon and it nearly caused a divorce. As a child I had been to Disney several times. My family believed in spending the "whole" day at the park. My husband on the other hand had only been once and that was his senior trip,he thought it would be nice to get up, have breakfast and get to the park "whenever", he then wanted to come back to the room to swim or rest and then have dinner. hello, when were we going to spend any time in the parks. (Now that I have children, I feel differently about afternoon breaks! )I must say that I have slowly converted him to a true Disney fan and he has agreed we can go to Disney at least once a year. Now that he has taken up golf he is extremely excited to go try out the Disney Golf Courses.
D(twin)S's (6) Eli and Luke: they have been to Disney 8 times. They have inherited their mothers love for Disney. The first time that they were 40 inches when we went I think we spent the entire trip riding Test Track . The same was true when they were 44 inches, we rode Space Mountain an obscene amount of times. (this would also be the trip I was at Disney and pregnant, but did not yet know it . They are little daredevils. I think Luke will be tall enough for Rock and Rollercoaster, but the Eli is going to be just shy. Fortunately he is very easy going and will be content to go find something else to do, like Tower of Terror.
I will mention here that in December 2005, I had what I thought was a great idea, a surprise trip to Disney for Eli and Luke. I kept it a secret, my Mom and I got everything loaded and we went to preschool to pick them up. Eli was thrilled, Luke however said oh good, then he said, but I am not going. What, not going . He said he did not have the things he needed. I explained I had packed everything he would need. After much debate, he decided he would go. Note to self, Luke does not like surprises . He does much better with a count down. (This is just an example in the difference in their personalities.)
(DM and DD(9months) are staying at home so we can go have some quality time with DS's. My DM and DF cannot wait to spoil my DD rotten. DF, DM and DD will go when we go in September. A special thanks to all of you who gave me great advice on deciding whether to let DM stay home and keep DD)
When:
We leave home on Saturday May 26 and come home on June 2.
Where we will stay:
Our first night we will stay at the Pop Century, then move to POR for the rest of our trip. We have not been to POR since it was Dixie Landings, we can't wait to go back. We have requested building #14, I sure hope we get it. We stayed in either 14 or 15 on our honeymoon.
What we plan to do:
Saturday arrival day, we will go to Downtown Disney to eat at the Rainforest Cafe (we usually have a hard time fitting this in since we are always on the dining plan) then we will explore DTD and head back to POP for swimming. Hopefully, we will get to bed at a decent so we will be ready to hit it early Sunday morning.
Sunday: Check into POR. Animal Kingdom morning, then dinner at Ohana. MGM if time if not back to POR for swimming.
Monday: Epcot, dinner at GG, then more Epcot.
Tuesday: Blizzard Beach in the morning, early dinner at LeCellier(new for us), then to MGM for Fantasmic.
Wednesday: Magic Kingdom, dinner at Chef Mickey(first time for dinner we have only done breakfast here), then more Magic Kingdom (Spectro and Wishes)
Thursday: Animal Kingdom morning, dinner at 50's PTC, evening MGM.
Friday: Open, whatever we want to do again. Dinner at Concourse Steakhouse(new for us).
We have the Hopper, Water Parks and more option on our tickets, so I am sure we will vary from this schedule somewhat. We will upgrade our tickets to AP's, we are going back in September(and any other chance I get).
****We plan to go back for an afternoon break daily !
Why:
Although, I never really need a reason to go to Disney, I am so excited about this trip. It has been a very hectic year. Our DD was born on Monday August 14, our twin boys started K-5 on that Thursday. It seems like we have not caught our breath since. We are going to celebrate the end of school and to have some special time with DTS's. They are wonderful big brothers and we are going to take some time to show them just how special they are!
That's it for the pre- trip report. Hopefully, I will be back soon with a trip report with all the details.
Your plans sound great! I hope you have a blast at POR - it's my favorite moderate. I think it's great y'all have a special twins-only trip planned, especially with a big family one coming up in September.
Sounds great Karla! We're going to be at the same parks on some of the same days, how funny is that? Epcot on Monday, MGM on Tuesday and AK on Thursday. It'll be easy to spot us -- big Jeep double stroller, rented disney stroller and likely to have baby Wyatt in the backpack carrier!!! I'll be leading the pack since nobody else will know where they're going. Hope we both have great weather!!

I'll keep an eye out for that Jeep stroller! If I see you I may give baby Wyatt a big squeeze, since Kaci Daye is staying at home with Nanny, I am sure I will be going through baby withdrawls.
