Epcot's scrapbooking supplies, advice needed About This Page:

First question is this.....I never really paid much attention to the country's in Epcot (I know, shame on me) Can someone tell me if that red phone booth is in the United Kingdom country? I was telling my SIL that when I go to Disney in June that I want to make sure to take more pictures especially in Epcot. I just purchased a bunch of stuff from mousememories and got a title of each country along with some co-ordinating cardstock. But my SIL said that they phone booth was next to "the umbrella" I have NO IDEA what she is talking about. The only "umbrella" that I can think of is the one over in MGM. So anyhow, can you tell me if the phone booth is in the UK?

I just bought a Jolee's embellishment of the red phone booth and would like to incorporate it into my UK page (if that's where the phone booth is) and I know Jolee's has many other "foreign country" embellishments. Can someone give me some examples of what they've seen out there that would co-ordinate with each country.

The phone booth is in the UK pavillion. The only thing next to the unbrella is a building and a lightpost. There might be a phone booth on Streets of American but honestly I do not know.

You forgot the "outpost" which is kind of Africalike (is that a word)...more Maroccian then Safari. I found some great Canada papers at my local scrapbook store...actually they had every country in the World Showcase. I know EK Sucess makes some great country stickers. They have a few lines. Micheals and JoAnns usually carries a pretty good selection. We are lucky to have two very large scrapbook stores here in Lansing and I am always finding great stuff.

If you can't find something that you feel works for your page. Jazz it up with some patterned paper and emblishments. There are NO rules in scarpbooking...just let your creativity flow!

There was (maybe still?) a Mary Poppins topiery in the garden by the phone booth. She was holding an unbrella and a carpet bag. maybe that's the umbrella?

Well, I have spent some time online today looking for those embellishments that would go with each country. Each of them are from Jolee's.

There are 11 countries in the World Showcase right? If so, then I'm only missing an embellishment for Norway and Morocco. Any ideas on these two? What types of "symbols" do these countries have? Like, the UK had a phone booth and Japan had a Kimono.

I looked back on a few albums and found I often used pieces from the Epcot map. Each country has a picture of their flag on it and can be cut on and put on a page. I have also made country flags from card stock and been able to find patterened paper with the country stamps on them or even found actual stamps to use. One year I made the country flags on a Mickey head. Sarah, (Dopey'sgirl) gave the great idea of using the word "Hello" in the native language of each country.

For embellishments on my Morocco pages, I have used beads and wire and little glass tiles and fibers. I tried to stay away from any animals or plant type embellishments as those things are not found in Morrocian design. For Norway, I used fishing net to go around my photos and have included a sun as it is know as the land of the Midnight Sun.

I also picked up some really cool coins in China to use on my pages. Another coin idea is to use pressed pennies you can collect from each country.

I love the Jolee's stickers, (and have used many of them) but don't limit yourself to them. Once you get in the WSC, keep your eyes open for all the other wonderful things that can be used on a country page. You may find things to use that will be very cheap, or even better, FREE!

So, as if I didn't ramble on enough in the first post, I thought of something else.

Get a passport (around $12 I think) and make a stop in each country to have a native CM sign it (at the Kidcot stops). It comes with stickers that you could use on a page and you could also scan the greeting the CM will put in the passport and use it on your page (or even use the actual page itself if you don;t mind cutting it apart). You could also use the little tags they have at each country that they put on the kid's masks on a page.

Oh Nala, you gave me 2 great ideas that I totally forgot about.

1--I had planned on doing the passport thing (never did it before but will be this trip)

2--My family are freaks when it comes to those pressed pennies. Guess I'll get one from each country for myself!!! I would have never thought of that one.

Plus I check out a site that sells Jolee's and found an emellishment for each country except Morocco. So slowly but surely I'll be picking those up for my album.

Forgot to ask.....can someone tell me how much those Epcot passports are? I just checked on Ebay and the wanted $17.95 plus $3.95 shipping. If this is what they are in the park ($20 I might just get them now so I'll have it when I go so I won't forget about it) But if it's considerable cheaper, I'll wait until I get to Epcot!!!

I purchased quite a bit of my EPCOT country items at Scrapbook Supplies Specializing in Disney, Vacation & Sports - MouseMemories.com They had some different things beyond the Jolee's which I had done before. So you are on the right track.

My last two albums had pages dedicated to each country, whereas before I had just kind of lumped some pictures together in a 2 page layout.

For Canada, I found background paper that was the Canadian flag. I liked it so well that I designed my own for Norway, Japan, & Germany. Those flags were easy to create with cardstock!

Also try scrapyourtrip.com - they have a section for international travel. You should be able to find stuff there too!

There are specific country sticker packs at the Mouse Memories store in DTD. The passports are around 10.00 at Epcot I think (and no shipping)! For Moracco, think magic carpets, brass lamps, beads. Norway-sod roofs, heavy wood, Nordic style, (I took a photo of the tile pattern in the family restroom to use as a page embellishment!) it is a really pretty pattern. Sara

When I scrapbooked our days in Epcot, I started with a map of the World Showcase. Then I added embelishments from each country around the world. The only country I had a hard time finding thins for was Morocco. I will have to look tomorrow!!!

You could also print the Moroccan flag. Another thing to do would be find some of the geometric patterns that are common in the architecture and print those as borders (or take close-up photos and trim and use those...)

If anyone is interested, the reason the Moroccan pavilion does some things differently is that they are aniconic, meaning they avoid decorations that could be considered an idol and anthropomorphic images are discouraged unless "they do not create the illusion of living beings". They had a difficult time when the masks came out trying to determine what the charm would be, which is one of the reasons it is completely different than the other countries'.
