An Animal Kingdom State of Being with Cam and Fam COMPLETED 9/18 - Page 96 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The story you wrote for Stefanie brought tears to my eyes! Do you do all of your scrapbook journaling in 3rd person? I seem to fluctuate back and forth between first person and third person, though I try to be consistent throughout an entire scrapbook.
The Lego store looks really cool! Love the pics of Stefanie with Buzz. We rarely make time for DtD, but my boys would love that. We'll have to try to check it out in December.
Sorry about the meltdown -- it happens to the best of us! -- but glad that she came around before you got back to the hotel. When I did online check-in for POR in February, I could have sworn that "close to transportation" was an option, as that was our desire and we did end up with a room just a few steps from one of the bus stops there.
Truthfully, I hardly every journal in my scrapbooks. I will copy my TR to put in with it, and that is it. I wrote in 3rd person as my intent was to create a kid's story.
We have had the "close to transportation" as an option for BC and CBR, but it was NOT available for Kidani Village. I'm sure because everyone would request it and there are truly only a few rooms that are close to transportation.

Love all the new lego displays. They aer really cool. And sorry about the meltdown...but we all seem to have them every once in a while. In fact my DD (17) had one on Saturday night. It included the "angry eyes" from Toy Story, our little inside joke about her evil, pissed at the world stares. She too, sat away from us as well. Ahhh kids, what would you do without them?!!
Don't you just love Joanns?! We have a really crappy one where I live, but about 40 mins up the road they have a new one that is loaded with Scrapbook items, and they have been on sale for 40% off for a few weeks now. I have to go up to DC tomorrow to take my DD for her endo appt and will try and stop by there. I love when scrapbook items are on sale. My kids...not so much. I wanted to stop at Michaels yesterday, but my DS advised he would set the place on fire if I did. Guess he doesn't like the place.
I love JoAnn's and Stefanie and I have been so excited ever since we learned that one was coming here.

Definitely a saddlecrap episode, but it was short lived. Like it when the storm blows over quickly!

I'm with Stefanie on the shopping...I probably act the same way when we leave DTD, atleast on the inside!
Great update!
These were two adults who were staring. The mother was at least my age, but probably older and the daughter was in her 20s at least. Just a bit off putting!

I love the new displays at the LEGO store. I have the same Harry Potter magnet set. Can't wait to see pictures of the rest of your purchases. Sorry Stefanie had a meltdown, but at least she wasn't mad at you for too long.
Did you know the characters will safely come of the magnets and go back on as they are held on with another magnet. I didn't realize this until Luke was showing someone else his Toy Story magnets.

Oh my gosh, Cam... I was on vacation and had lots of catching up to do! What a magical day at AK, especially the parade! Your story brought a tear to my eye, as I can feel what an incredibly special moment that was for your family. It truly exemplifies what Disney is all about and why we go back year after year.
I also couldn't help but smile at Stefanie's pouty face... we've seen quite a few of those in our household! Stefanie is just so adorable, even when she's mad!

It was the most magical day from start to finish! Stefanie is always cute as least to me!
Up Next: What do we think of our new room? And a dinner with our 100 Acres Woods friends!
June 10 Part 2
We found our room almost at the very end of the resort, #7260. Luke called Bell Services to bring our luggage as we had no idea when we’d return to the resort as Magic Kingdom had evening Extra Magic Hours until 3 AM. Waiting for our luggage seemed to take forever, but finally it found its way back to us.

We were at the bus stop by 5:00, but a bus to MK was just leaving, so we had about a 25 minute wait for the next one. When we arrived at MK, we were 45 minutes late for our ADR, so I was very thankful when the CM still registered us and within 10 – 15 minutes our pager went off and were lead inside.
Our server Pat was low on enthusiasm and reminded me of Tommy Lee Jones in looks. As we were seated, Pooh had just passed our table, but was brought back to meet Stefanie.
Then Luke filled his plate while Stefanie and I waited for Tigger who was just a few tables away. Luke got back just in time! Tigger is his favorite.
Stefanie and I went next to fill our plates. She chose macaroni and cheese, rice, and rotisserie chicken while I got Mediterranean salad, red potato salad, and Southwest chicken salad. Of course, as bread lovers, we both picked up rolls.
Back at the table Piglet arrived followed by Eeyore.
And then surprising me was Lorraine (lorraine515). She sat and talked with us for a while and we caught up on each other’s families. She is now a Cast Member in Tomorrowland, and had gotten off early, and then gone in search of us. So cool to finally meet her! When she left, she told me she’d see us again for the Wishes Meet.
Several of the characters came back a second time. But the most memorable was Pooh snubbing me because he and Stefanie loved each other. Stefanie told him to be nice to me, so I finally got a big ‘ole bear hug.
So I only spotted one "hidden Cam" in your room pictures!
LOVED the little proverb card from Ghana in your room!
And dinner looked like a big success - at least after Pooh finally gave in to give you a hug!
Well that does it! I really want to stay in a 1 bedroom villa at AKLV!! I have never stayed in anything but a studio. That 1 bedroom villa is beautiful!!!!!!
I love all of the sweet pictures of Stefanie and the Pooh and friends characters!!
It was nice of Pooh to share a hug with you as well!
