Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Tea, Mouse and House - THREAD 3

Thursday 1 December – part five: you’re not holding the bags on this ride!

Then it was back to the original plan and we were off to Winnie the Pooh, although Bill somehow thought that he was excluded from doing this ride. You’re not playing the Bagman on this ride! I couldn’t believe he was standing outside, while the rest of us were in line, so I ran over and grabbed him and hauled him on to the ride. I wasn’t having him missing this for anything!

We carefully arranged ourselves in line, so that Mark and Terri would be in the honeypot ahead of myself and Angie. The plan was that we would then take photos of each other. I’m not sure that Terri thought about what she was doing when she gave me her camera, but I took lots and lots of photos, some of which I think came out OK and others that I know didn’t. We had great fun in our honeypot and as Bill and Jan were in the back of our honeypot, we got to bounce with Bill and Tigger after all!

Angie and I ready to see our favourite characters..

… and enjoying the ride!

Finally we got to bounce with Bill – and look how happy he is about it!

And the honeypot behind us with Katie, Paige, Sarah and Marie

The ride did keep stopping and the first time it did, there was an announcement. I was fully expecting it to say that there is no flash photography on this ride, as that’s what we were doing but no, it had stopped, so we were able to get some great photos of our scene. The ride stopped a couple of times after that, but only for a second or two. I still wonder whether that was our fault or not.

When we got off the ride, I was greeted with a new Eeyore beanie – a Christmas one. Before I had left, I had seen no sight of a Christmas beanie, so I was delighted to see him. How I first saw him was quite funny – I walked into the shop and Terri was holding him out past the shelf, so all I could see was him and a hand holding him!

Once we had finished looking around the shop and I had added the new beanie to my collection, we decided to head out. We had laundry to do and I wanted to get my Disney Dining Experience card ordered, plus we had left all our gifts from later back at the room. We walked out getting some shots of the castle and tree on the way:

Then we waited for a bus… and waited… and waited.. In fairness, it was probably only about 10 or 15 minutes that we waited, but it seemed like longer and all I could think about was the problems that Sue and Steve had had so far this trip with Disney transportation. It seems their curse was becoming our curse!

We were about the only ones on the bus and we jumped off at the Yacht Club stop, as we could just walk back through the lobby and that would give us a chance to see their Christmas display:

At least the Yacht Club had all their Christmas display intact this year – unlike the Beach Club, where we’re missing our big tree in the lobby and the poinsettia trees at the entrance to the lobby. Don’t let me get started on that subject again…

At least Stormalong Bay never changes and looks as good as ever:

I stopped off at concierge to order my Disney Dining Experience card. The guy there did not have a clue what I was talking about and put me through to central reservations. Now I knew – and probably you knew – that they weren’t the people to speak to, but they quickly transferred me and I got it sorted out quickly once I was through to them and by the end of the conversation, my temporary card would be ready for me at Epcot guest services by 5.30 this afternoon. Yay!

That done, we uploaded the photos we’d taken so far and relaxed for a few minutes, before picking up everything that we needed to take back to the Magic Kingdom and heading back. This time, we were lucky enough to get a bus as soon as we arrived at the bus stop and we were back in plenty of time for the Guides’ meet, which was starting between 12.15 and 1.00 at the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station.

Next: another Dole Whip convert and a duel with a parrot!

Re: Tea, Mouse and House - THREAD 3

Thursday 1 December – part six: another Dole Whip convert a duel with a parrot!

We quickly found Bill and Jan there with Terri and Cheryl and nearby were Sara (Belle*), Shaun, Ryan and Shaun’s parents. We had a brief chat with them and then headed off to see Dave and Jennifer to get our instructions for the afternoon. We were given a gift card and told to go and get a Dole Whip and then meet at Pirates of the Caribbean by 1.30. We sat with Bill and Jan for a while, before wandering off to get that Dole Whip.

We didn’t get very far before we saw two familiar, and at the moment very flustered, faces. Sue and Steve were coming towards us and they did not look happy. The first words they said just told us the whole story: “as soon as we get out of here, we are renting a car.” Another bad experience with Disney transport then I guess! Yep, that was the case. It had taken them a crazy amount of time to get here from MGM, I think it was. We re-assured that they weren’t the last ones (we knew that Tara and Donna were still to come) and that Dave was still there and told them we’d see in a few minutes.

We set off again, Jan and I leading the way and the guys behind. For some reason, whenever the four of us were together, that was always how it worked. When we met up again at Aloha Isle, Bill told us that we had missed Dawn and her mom on the way here. Darn I guess I was just too keen on getting that Dole Whip!

Mark and I both had the pineapple float after the guy there told us that they were pretty much dairy free. There appeared to be a very small amount of milk in them, but not much, so Mark decided to go for it and, from the comments I heard from him about it, there seemed to be another Dole Whop convert.

We walked over to Pirates of the Caribbean and thanks to Bill and Mark, very carefully followed the instructions we were given about where to meet and found Jennifer waiting for us. We were the first ones there! Everyone else showed up bit by bit and I seem to recall that Sue and Steve were the next ones to arrive. Good going after their earlier problems getting to the park!

Now the instructions were that you could wear pirate costumes, but we didn’t. We were planning on bringing my two pirate Eeyore beanies with us and attaching them to our shoulders, but we just didn’t have room in the suitcases for them. A lot of other people did make an effort and they looked great.

Once we were all there, we headed off to enjoy our first ride together – Pirates of the Caribbean. We were split into different groups for each ride with trivia questions which we could answer to win pirate bounty. However, regardless of which group we were in for each ride, the same thing seemed to happen – the pirates weren’t playing fair when it came to handing out the bounty and it didn’t matter who’d answered the question right… we had our own ways of sorting out prizes!

Our first team was us with Sue and Steve and we decided to take the right hand side of the entrance and no-one else went that way. We just walked in, while the others all waited in line. We really got into the pirate spirit of things and had a ball on this ride, particularly with Steve’s “aaarghs” throughout it. I’m sure the other families loved riding with us! I also managed to get some shots here, using the new night-time feature on my camera… have I mentioned recently that I love it?

We were the first ones out, so had time to browse the shop where Steve got himself a gun:

He immediately challenged the parrot outside Pirates to a duel!

That wasn’t enough for him though – Paige was the next one to be challenged:

They weren’t the only ones to play, with Mark borrowing Paige’s sword:

As we all arrived back, I grabbed a few more photos:

I have no idea what Donna was doing in this shot!

Next: happy birthday Jane!

What the heck was I talking about? *LOL* Everyone looks so interested.

I was laughing so hard at Mark and Piglet. The whole restaurant was looking at us I think they thought we were nuts! I am glad you guys invited me to go to Crystal Palace with you because I never would have gone otherwise. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was PRICELESS!!!

GREAT pics from Pirates!!! (note to self . . . next camera MUST have fancy nighttime setting AND a target! )

The Pirate party thingy looked so fun! Wish I could have gone . . . maybe someday, huh? The pics of Steve challenging the parrot (and Paige) to a duel were too funny . . . and it looks like Mark was challenging you as well!

More please!
