As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh my goodness, my head is spinning with everything you need to do in June! It's a good thing you are a teacher and don't have to try working at the same time as all of that!!
Oh no, that's a real shame. I thought they'd got all their big rehabs out of the way by now for the 25th anniversary and I'm really shocked it's shut at such a popular time of the year.
I was surprised too. I would have thought with the 25th anniversary they would have everything up and running.
I've had some good advice from people who have been to Walt Disney Studios. We've also looked at some videos of rides and this is our must do list.
Ratatouille
shows like Armageddon, Motors! & Animagique
apparently, this place is fairly small and one sections is mostly geared toward kids. We both like the studio tram tour if it is still there. Neither one of us are fans of TOT but currently DD is insistent she wants to try Crush. I told her of the warnings I had from 2 Passporters and she still wants to try which is saying something for my DD because she is a big chicken! If she wants to be brave I will support that. She might chicken out when we get there but at least for now I will support her.
I am planning to explore Disney Village today also and dinner at Inventions because everyone who has been there raves about it.
Thursday we are back at DLP to redo favorite rides, do ones we missed, see shows, meet characters and explore.
Friday, I want to have breakfast at Plaza gardens as they are now doing character breakfasts there for the anniversary, we should have time to fit in a couple of rides before we get on the Eurostar to London.
Best of luck to her on doing Crush's Coaster. I look forward to hearing how it turns out... for the best I hope!
Ratatouille is amazing and I was talking to a friend at work who went to Disneyland Paris last week during the May half term school holidays in the UK, so you'd expect it to be pretty busy. He said the waits for it weren't too bad, so fingers crossed that holds true for you guys too.
Nice plans for DLP. You'll love the Eurostar as such a great and smooth train ride!

Actually WA gets out of school late and we had 3 snow days so my last day of work is June 27th. So I am working though all of it. I am using my last personal day for DD's grad day though.

DD said she was going to try EE but chickened out when we got to the front so I'm not sure how this will go.
I am expecting lots of people since it is summer and July too but I cannot do much about time frame so we will make the best of it and enjoy it whether it's full of people or not.

DD took a train to Portland last fall and loved it. I rode a train when I was 10 or 11 but do not remember it very well so am looking forward to the experience.

Me too, not because I want her to ride it but trying new things builds confidence which makes more self confidence which is why I'm supporting her braveness.
VA appraisal went through early! Loan is approved and closing in 2 days!!
2 days until mom, brother, SIL, 2 nephews, grand niece flies in from Alaska.
3 days until MIL arrives from Indiana
4 days until DD Graduation BBQ gathering/party
5 days until DD's high school graduation
6 days until we have keys to house (if all goes well)
10 days until we move to new house (if all goes well)
20 days until last day of work before summer vacation
22 days until fly to NYC for first leg of this trip
Today I finally had a chance to attempt to call DLP dining.
I looked up the number and dialed but it did not go through... I thought I dialed it wrong so tried again and it still didn't work. I looked up online how to call France and found out I was missing the area code. With the area code I tried again and it went right though, I was very happy to hear for English press 2. The young man was helpful and it was easy to book Inventions for the day and time I wanted. Next I asked about reservations for Plaza Gardens on the Friday morning which was our last day and I wanted to do something special. He told me that the Plaza could only be booked 3 days in advance and might be full. I have to make a note in my planner when we arrive Monday to try for Thursday or Friday mornings, I would rather get in than not. Wish us luck.
Emboldened by my success at completing a call to a country with another language, I next called our hotel for when we are at DLP, I wanted to pay the bill before arriving. The woman answered in French and I asked if she spoke English? She said yes, I explained what I wanted and she did not understand English nearly as well as the Disney CM and thought I wanted to cancel , we finally got it worked out and all was fine but for a moment I was worried!
Next, I tried to purchase our tickets for the Louvre and my credit card was declined. They started a new tracking policy to make sure no one had stolen my card and was trying to use it. I had to confirm it was me trying to make the purchase and once I did that, they released the hold and I could get the tickets. I also got tickets for Versailles.
Next I moved on to NYC and purchased our tickets for the National History Museum, the Empire State building and the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island.
The only other items I want to arrange is tickets for Bletchley (if available) and Warner Brothers Harry Potter tour.
I need to arrange to train trips in London but have researched and if we purchase a rail card (2 traveling together) we get 1/3 off train travel from London up to Bletchley and back, and to Dover, and to and from the airport which would not only pay for itself we would save beyond that. I figured it out as of now and we would save 27 pounds plus whatever we save traveling to and from the airport which totals more than $35. I just re-looked at the website and we can actually purchase from home, we just have to upload pictures. Has any one else used these?
Looks all is going well with a few minor complications with the reservation and credit card but looks like it worked out!

Definitely make sure to notify your credit card company of the days you'll be traveling, as well as what countries you'll be in which dates. You don't want a hold put on it when you're traveling.
Is it an Oyster card or some other type of rail pass for England? I've purchased Oyster cards from home and the work fine.
