As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It's hard sometimes just to get from one place to another quickly. That's why you're always warned to allow enough time for travel. Problem is,sometimes, you feel that that's your whole vacation, buses, boats, and monorails. This year, because we stayed at OKW, we were Downtown town a few times every day. It's just part of the trip. The only way to get around it is to have a car,and personally I don't find that appealing at all. Next trip we won't be doing the DDP,so maybe a little less traveling back and forth for reservations, but then you have a lot more walk-ups,and fast food. At WDW there's always a trade off. It sure beats working!

What a nightmare that morning sounded like!! I, too, would have been very upset with the service (or lack there of) that you received from the manager. Unforseen things do happen, but they could have handled that so much better! Ghiradelli's looked like a delicious alternative
I'm sorry that some of the travel woes followed you all day, but glad that you loved La Nouba! That one's definitely going on my list

Sorry you guys had such a bad time with Koozina's but hey Ice cream it's not just for breakfast anymore is it. So glad Chuck enjoyed La Nuba told you it was fantastic
Sorry about your breakfast plans not working out, but your replacement meal looks fantastic. The meal at Fulton's looks great too. I'd love to see LaNouba. Sounds like fun!
It was a great sundae. And Fulton's was awesome. You definitely need to see LaNouba!

LaNouba was outstanding. The performers didn't phone it in at all. They really went all out,and that's a couple of days before a vacation for them, something maybe we all can take something from.
They did forget it, but once we pointed it out - they fixed it as soon as they could. I wouldn't knock them for that.

The way they handled it all is just wrong. And I'm so sorry that probably now you won't want to try for another breakfast there because it's really wonderful!
Stopping for ice cream was a very good idea and your dinner at Fultons sounds great.
All over again? You have had a bad experience there? We had dinner there once and breakfast there last year so naturally, we were looking forward to it this time. We were very angry because it was handled poorly. We really like the food there. Just the customer service is lacking.

I'm sure you'll let them know on the survey what a mess Disney transportation was!
We thought that was the reason they took your # as well. I'm not sure we will even be getting a survey - we were never stopped and asked while there.

Thanks Dani! Yes - the Cirque performers are outstanding! I can see how it would be competitive. But they have to depend on each other so I can imagine that it is tight knit type of family.

Glad you had a comparable breakfast at Ghiradelli though Sounds like a perfect breakfast to me! Your dinner at Fulton's looked really delicious too.
Thanks Linda. It was very frustrating. But Ghiradelli's was great!

Not necessarily "better" but it was very good! I may not have had a waffle this trip but we did get a waffle bowl!

Even when we drove and HAD a car - we left it parked in the lot (and someone lost the key).

LaNouba (according to Stacey) IS on the list of "must do's"! I have to agree!

I figure ice cream is a complete food group. Dairy, veg (yes - it is a veg. Cows eat grass/hay. They provide the milk for the ice cream, therefore - it qualifies as a veg!) and there's protein in the milk. And then pair it with a waffle bowl and you have your grain. Did I mention that I can rationalize ANYTHING?

Got up early this am because we had a breakfast ADR. Now we were saying “as long as there’s no water main break”. We had coffee/tea and showers. Then walked over to the HH and mailed bills and a postcard for Mike L’s friend (as my first time as a fairy GM). We caught a bus to AK and then another bus to AKL. We had our breakfast at Boma (first for us - we usually do dinner) and it was very good. I didn't find it AS good as dinner but it was a standard breakfast buffet. They did have a couple of specialty items - bobotie, etc. But just didn't WOW us as much. Sorry, no pics.
After breakfast, we made our way back to AK for the am. We packed a lot in. FotLK (kind of got teary thinking that they may close this - it’s my favorite)
, Flights of Wonder,
This one came so close to us and almost hit Chuck in the head!
I did a "self portrait" of us while we were sitting there and I really like the pic of us except for the "stalker" behind us.
Maharajah Jungle Trek,
saw Divine
, did Kali RR (Chuck didn’t even get wet!)
At this time, we were debating on what to do. When all else fails - back to the ressort for a swim!
Busy morning - wore us out.
Swimming and hot tub, snack and Chuck took a nap while I got caught up on the boards and fb while watching Stacey. We donned our “costumes” (ie scrubs - aka work clothes)
and headed out to MK for the MNSSHP. Good thing about scrubs - they are light and comfortable. We actually had quite a few people comment on our “costumes” Some said “Looks like they just came from work”. Really? We must just look like we belong in scrubs or something. We got in and got our wristbands. We headed toward the back of the park and went to Pecos Bill’s for “dinner”. I took some photos along the way.
Chuck got a burger and I got pulled pork sandwich with onion rings. Chocolate cake for dessert (those are good). Sorry, no pics here (they were blurry). We were going to meet Mel for the second parade but we were right there and the parade was about to start so I texted Mel and told her where we were and that we were going to watch the first parade. Apparently - she was too! But she was over by Main Street. We were across from Country Bear Jamboree.
I took two pics and then my camera battery died! I must have forgotten to charge it the night before.
So I was just into enjoying the night without taking all the pics. Unfortunately - because this was our first MNSSHP. I did get a shot of the headless horseman though! (a bit dark)
After the parade, we were walking in circles looking for bathrooms - through Frontierland and then back through the hub and up through Adventureland and then ended up back at Pecos Bill’s. After our potty stop, we walked over to the Peter Pan meet area just over the bridge of Adventureland in front of CP and sat there for a bit. The fireworks were going to start and this wasn’t very crowded so we decided to stay put. Now we know why it wasn’t crowded. The trees block the view. Yes, you see some. But not a great spot. We were just too tired to move and fight for a spot. Anyhow, Mel texted us and we told her where we were. She was in front CP and came over. We were going to get a pic (on Chuck's iPhone and Mel's camera) but the Fireworks were going to start so she and Meri went back to sit with their friends and said they’d come back for pics after - so they did. Meri is so cute. She said very politely “It was nice meeting you” and jumped up on my lap for pics! She is a doll. And Mel is a sweetheart! Great PP meet and hugs! I don’t think I could keep up with either of them - so much energy! Both Chuck and I were just really worn out on this night. After saying goodbye to Mel and Meri, we worked our way over to Fantasyland. We didn’t do any “trick or treating”. We didn’t want to stand in line for candy we didn’t need. We rode Dumbo and then came back and rode It’s a Small World. By this time, Chuck wasn’t feeling that great and I was tired and my feet were sore so we made our way out. On our journey up Main St, we did encounter the Headless Horseman once more. That is just too cool! I wish I could have gotten a better picture. Oh well, a reason to do it again huh? We darted into the bakery for some treats to bring back to the room. We got 2 sandwiches and 2 pastries and 2 waters (2 CS meals). Chuck’s pastry was a danish and I got a cinnamon roll - thinking breakfast - oh yeah! We made it back to OKW, had a glass of wine while making notes about the day and then it was lights out!
Up next - a "down day" or a day for relaxation during our vacation!
Over all, another good day! Fun to meet up with Meri and Melanie during the party. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to keep up with them, either. I'm always amazed reading other peoples' reports by how much they do during one day. I'm good in short spurts followed by long down-time.

Oh, no... sorry for the confusion! I just meant I was angry again for you since hearing briefly about it from your live update during your trip. I've had several fabulous breakfasts there and was very concerned that their customer service was so bad.
Sounds like a full and fun day! You got some good pics of the tigers. I am looking forward to the MVMCP, I have done the MNSSHP two times.
Glad you got to do your breakfast today. Peso Bills is one of my fave CS places. I just wish I knew that you could ask for a regular roll, instead of that hard nasty multigrain one. I think I read that they got rid of those? Hmmm....
