As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So sorry about your injury Coop. That really sucks. Glad to hear that it is feeling better though. for continued healing.
Can't wait to see the tire cover when it is done. I think it will look so cool.
I agree with you Coop with the full moon stuff. Sorry work has been so crazy! But you only have 43 days left. They will be here before you know it, even though it doesn't seem like it now. I was there not to long ago. Now I am in the WDW withdrawls stage. Talking about the trip, what we liked, what we didn't like and would change for next time and wishing that we were still there.
Sorry about work. I understand how frustrating it can be when your co-workers only think of themselves.
How wonderful of your friend to give you her wallet holder. That was very thoughtful of her!
Wasn't it though? Thanks

So this has been a busy week. Not in the Disney planning sense but busy none the less. First (the little surprise Chuck eluded to) I got contacts!!! I went to the eye doctor on Wednesday and asked to try them. I went to the “contact lens class” on Thursday and have my trial pair for a week. Originally it took me 2 hours to get them in but today (3 days later) I’m down to 40 mins! Woo Hoo! Maybe I can get the hang of this! I like the fact that I don’t feel like I’m hiding behind glasses and it feels like 10 lbs are gone from my face! I just hope I can get better at putting them in. Then I can actually wear regular sunglasses at Disney! I didn’t think I could use contacts because I normally wear bifocals but they make multimodal contacts. Now I just have to adjust.
So to continue on with my week - after my contact class on Thursday, I had a staff meeting then I had Zumba class. Oh my! What did I not only sign up for but PAY for? I came home sweaty and tired but it will be a good thing in the long run. Then Friday my BFF was going to pick up her daughter at college and then her mom had to have a cardiac catheterization (a procedure to check out her heart). I asked if she wanted me to be there with her for either or both (since picking up her daughter was a 4 hour drive round trip) and she accepted. So I spent the day with her as moral support. I used to work in the cardiac cath lab and she really wished I still did at that point. I think she was more worried than she was letting on and I was just trying to be there for her. End result - her mom did well, they found no blockages and she was home within 8 hours. We went out to dinner afterward and didn’t realize how hungry or thirsty we really were. I ended up starting my day at 5 am and didn’t get home until 11 pm. Needless to say, I was TIRED! So that is why I haven’t been on the boards for the past couple of days.
This am - I woke with a stomach bug (aka bubble gut) and I have been just taking tea. I will try dry toast in a bit. I need to feel better because I have to bake, grocery shop, clean and catch up with everything before I start my work week tomorrow! Man it’s going fast.
And as always - Walt’s wisdom
“It's something that will never be finished. Something that I can keep developing... and adding to.” - Walt Disney
Disney shoes washed and put away. Most of the tshirts and "broken in" jeans put in Disney box. 5 weeks left, lots to do. Final reservations just made, planning is done, now the "doing" begins.
Just got all caught up Sorry for tough days at work Know how that can go 100 times over Sorry missed your call at Epcot but we were running a little behind that day as most days mostly thanks to the heat and humidity
Sorry you've been sick Coop. I have been wondering what bubble gut was. Hope it goes away fast. But at least it's now instead of 5 weeks from now. Your getting closer and closer, now I am the jealous one. See we all get a turn!
Hope you are feeling better now! I've worn contacts for 36 years because as soon as I could get them I did. My glasses are thick and heavy, even now with the thinner lenses. adjusting to them!
Hope you're feeling better! Good luck with the contacts!
Thanks! I am feeling better and getting better with the contacts.

Every time I got through - someone would hang up on me! I so wanted to talk to you guys! (Dh keeps telling me "You know those people aren't real, don't you?" Hahahaha. So I could have thrown it back at him! They ARE real!) I think he says that because I have friends I haven't ever met.

Thanks Sparks. Bubble gut is not fun. Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain. I think I had too much greasy food on Friday. Doing much better now. Thanks. DH has already started "In 5 weeks from today we will be having breakfast at a Waffle House on the trip down to WDW"

Thanks Cam! I had some issues at first but I have been able to wear them for my entire 12 hour shift at work without a problem.
As you all know, I have had a little bout with bubble gut (nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea). I figured it was from Friday, when I had been gone with my BFF all day and only ate greasy fast foods. It didn’t agree with me. Then add in the muscle aches from a new Zumba class - ouch! Now I am doing much better. Thanks for all the pixies!
On the contact lens front - I got them on Thursday and wore them for maybe 6 hours total that day. When I woke up on Friday, my eyes were red, swollen and crusty! I was ready to cry because I thought I wasn’t able to wear them. But I talked to my BFF and she said it was probably the cleaning solution. Her entire family couldn’t use it without a reaction. She gave me a bottle of the kind she uses and so I changed. I didn’t wear my contacts on Friday at all but then on Saturday tried it again and Presto! She was right! Yay! Now I have been able to wear them for my entire 12 hour shift at work and have it down to 30 mins to put them in. I hope THAT will get easier!
Plans for this week include taking Meg back to the vet today. She still has that skin infection on her leg. I am just worried because she is old (13 years) and I really want her to be ok before we leave. I don’t think it is fair to the kids to have them house/animal sit a sick dog. She has moments when she still acts like a puppy by rolling and playing with her fluffies. But you can tell that she is out of sorts. I need to have a long talk with the vet. I will also address the fact that we will be out of town and if something should happen (heaven forbid) - I can set something up with the vet so the kids can bring her to them and not have to worry about the $$$. (Sorry about the run-on sentence - hope that made sense though). Anyway - pixies are appreciated. Thursday I have my mammogram - ugh! I also need to take my cell phone back in. 2 weeks ago I had a replacement sent to me because my phone was getting very hot and the screen was freezing, I would have to pull the battery to reboot it 2-3 times per day, etc. Well now the replacement is overheating! This just will not do! Then Thursday eve, I have Zumba - oh boy! Friday I have to go back and get my eyes rechecked to see how I’m doing with the contacts. Saturday I have to go to the play as this is the last weekend. I also need to bake some cookies for the cast and one of the doctors that Chuck works with. Man - I’m already tired just thinking about it. (because I know I will add in cleaning and cooking, grocery shopping and bill paying and of course - Disney planning!)
As far as Disney planning goes - we did add on our reservations for Grand Floridian Café for breakfast on our departure day (11/14) and we added Kona for breakfast on Sunday 11/6 since we didn’t have anything until HDDR at 9:30. That was the only tweak. I think DH is getting ready to do the tire cover. Everything I ordered came, except for the little fans. I got my bathing suit and we got the plain tire cover and armrest cover that Chuck wanted. 5 weeks. Tick, Tick, Tick. It seems so close yet so far.
I've only had glasses for 3 years and hate that I don't have fancy sunglasses (among others reasons). I may have to give contacts a try. Keep up the good work!
