Our Last Hurrah As 3 TR - COMPLETED 7/29 (MNSSHP Included) - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

This is the update I've been looking forward!!! Time for MNSSHP re-cap! I'm going to do this in a few parts because there are so many pictures and so much to tell!
Last we left off, we had a morning at AK and went back to POR to rest and get dressed for MNSSHP. I was much more tired than I realized and when I layed down, I intended on taking a 20-30 minute nap. 1 1/2 hours later I woke up and realized that it was after 4pm (I was hoping to be heading towards MK by 4pm!) Allen (bless his heart) said he didn't want to wake me because I was sleeping so soundly. I prompty got up to get everyone moving to get dressed so we could get to MK.
I knew the moment we planned this trip that I wanted us to dress up for MNSSHP. I thought a lot about what we could dress as and really wanted us all to be a single "theme." Tyler, being the cool kid that he is, had already declared that he wasn't dressing up for Halloween that year so I had to somehow convince him to dress up without revealing WHY. We happened to be at the Disney store when they had just put out the Halloween costumes and I noticed that Peter Pan's was pretty thin and I thought that would be a great theme. I told him that the ILs were going to come for Halloween and really wanted to go trick-or-treating with him and they would even dress up. He was very reluctant but I eventually persuaded him. With that, we all found/made costumes from Peter Pan. Tyler was Peter, Allen was Captian Hook, I was Wendy Darling, MIL was Tinkerbell and FIL was Smee.
Before the trip, the ILs asked me no less than 50 times if we would be the only ones dressed up and I assured them that we would not. Well, as we walked to the bus stop and boarded the MK bus, we totally were the only ones and I could see a flash of nervousness on their parts. I kept assuring them that even if we were the only ones (which I knew we wouldn't be), we are at WDW and why not!!!
Can you see the nervous look on FIL's face?
We sat across from another family on the bus and the mother looked over at the father and said "see, I told you we should have dressed up!" That got a conversation going and she got to hear all about our costumes! As we pulled up to the bus depot at MK, my excitement was building. It was almost time!!
As we were walking towards the gates, a man (and a rude one at that) looked at us and said in a very loud voice "obviously these idiots don't know that MK is closing early tonight." Ooof! Sorry sir, obviously you didn't do your homework! I'm guessing he didn't know that MK was closing for the party and was none to happy that he had to leave.
As we approached the turnstiles, we could see other people dressed in costumes and the ILs started to feel more at ease. We got our MNSSHP bracelets and made our way into the park. First stop for me was a break to use the facilities. The Move It Shake It parade was starting so we stood to watch it. Here's Hook and Peter:
And Smee and Tink:
After the parade made it down Main Street, it was time to head that way:
Here is our gang:
Our first stop was Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor. It was a good show, especially because they picked people in costumes as the characters! It added an element of humor!
Next we decided to grab some food so we headed towards Cosmic Rays. Here are some pictures while we waited for food:
I think the Halloween sprinkles make the chocolate cake a little more tasty!
Funny story, a CM was walking by while we were eating and commented on how she loved our costumes. Allen, Tyler and I were eating at the same table and she said "Peter, you shouldn't be eating with Hook!" I looked at her and said "I'm having Hook's baby!" It was really funny and she got a kick out of it!
Great costumes! Perfect theme! Love your comment about Hook's baby!
Sorry about that rude man, but I truly believe what goes around comes around. It's just sad that some people only see the negative side of things. Oh well.

They were so SOAKED too! I was pretty glad I didn't ride it! I don't like walking around in wet clothes .

Thank you! I don't know why but I felt like I noticed more people than usual being less than magical this trip (probably because I spent more time "observing" and taking is slow.) When it comes down to it, it's no sweat off my back because we had a fabulous trip but dollars to doughnuts, I bet this guy had no idea that MK was closing early and was angry.

Thanks! The CM seemed to really get a kick out of it too- I hope it made her night!
After grabbing some food at Cosmic Rays, we decided to start in Toontown:
Donald and Daisy were doing meet and greets at the entrance, and they were dressed like a pumpkin and a princess. I would have loved to stop for a picture but the line was pretty long already and Tyler just wasn't too interested. Here's a picture I snapped as we walked by so I could at least have something with them dressed up!
Tyler had command of the map and he decided to hit the Trick or Treating spot at Minnie's house first. I love that they added Halloween decor in there too!
The last time I'll take his picture in Minnie's chair :
They had some games for the kids to play in Toontown as well, Tyler had a good time with that:
Here's Mickey's Giant Pumpkin:
Next we headed towards Alice and Mad Hatter's Treat Party:
It's not everyday that you see Tink and Smee holding hands (but then again you don't see Wendy Darling having Hook's baby all too often either)
Tyler really wanted to ride Space Mountain so I walked through the queue with him and met him on the other side. He was ready to go again but I suggested we move on because there is a lot to see. Next we hit the Dance Party in Tomorrowland, and we all agreed it was a hit!
Smee and Tink getting their groove on:
Pluto getting funky:
Stitch during his dance-off with Goofy:
I got Tyler to stand still for a hot second in between his dancing:
Having a great time:
I realized that we had spent a good while at the dance party and suggested we keep moving. Everyone wanted to take a spin on Buzz so we headed there next. After that we headed towards Fantasyland and hit a Trick or Treat spot next to Tomorrowland Speedway. As we were nearing Dumbo, I saw the Evil Queen from Snow White in her old lady costume! I almost died of excitment although there wren't many people near here so I suspect some people may not have realized she was there. I quickly got Tyler to take a photo (although it came out a little blurry and overexposed- I was a flurry of excitement and clearly didn't hold my camera steady...or check the photo after I took it!):
I saw Cinderella's Coach for pictures but the line was pretty long and no one was as interested as me so we kept going. We hit a Trick or Treat spot near Peter Pan and then Tyler and I decided we wanted to ride to Neverland (after all, he is Peter and I am Wendy.) No one else wanted to ride so he and I got in line with the gang waited. By the time we returned from Neverland, I saw Allen waiting for us near the exit. They found that the 7 dwarfs were doing a meet next to IASW and the ILs were in line.
This was the longest line we stood in but MIL and I both really wanted to make sure we did the meet and greet. While we were in line, we chatted with a lovely family from KY. That helped make the line go faster. The parents hadn't dressed up and again the mom commented to the dad "we should have dressed up." While we were standing in line I noticed I had a string touching my leg but it was pretty dark so I couldn't quit tell where the string was from. I made my costume since I had no luck findng one and I had been worried about my construction skills. I decided to let the string be (for fear of having my costume fall apart on me ) and check it out in the bathroom after we met the dwarfs.
Finally it was our turn and I really wanted to stand next to Bashful. He was sitting so I went over and gave him a kiss on his nose. I though Photopass got the picture of it but they didn't
Up next: Will my costume hold up, The Villians Mix'n'Mingle, Boo to You Parade and Fireworks
