Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Great updates from Disneyland Paris! I hear you about the lack of any photographers there - it was quite a surprise to us and it's the only park in the world like that. We were very glad of our tripod to get lots of photos of the two of us together.

Thursday, June 3, 2010 DLP

i got up at 7:15, showered, went for breakfast at 7:45 (OJ, 3 coffees, fruits, 2 prunes, one container yogurt, one container caramel flan, 2 chocolate croissants), went back to my room at 8:20, then left my room at 8:45. i think i just missed the bus because there was nobody there. i think the bus is at 8:40 and then 9, etc. i took the 9 o'clock bus. i went to disney village. i bought a DLP hoody and a DLP tank top for Amanda (it turned out that she didn't like and didn't want it). at 10 i went to DLP park.

At 1005 i went on the fire truck on main street, then went on the police dpt patty wagon on main street at 10:15. at 10:45 i waited for the caroussel, even this had a long queue and i got kicked in the leg by this kid. i was missing WDW. i didn't even want to queue for rides anymore where the lines were so long and i was getting pushed, shoved and kicked. finally i got on it at 11:05. at 11:25, i went in the castle courtyard for the 11:30 show of Once upon a time sleeping beauty (10 mins show). at 11:45 Disney all star express train town square - main street.

at 11:50 i went to Plaza Gardens restaurant for lunch (buffet) early as i wanted to go shopping at Val d'Europe and Vallee Village. i had for lunch salads, 4 chicken wings, scallop potatoes, vegetables, 1 mozza stick, 1 slice bread with camembert, brie, 2 containers yogurt (one small one and one kiwi activia), berry tart, rhubarb tart, pacane tart, again i ate too much because it was a buffet. i left the restaurant at 12:45, the food was certainly not as good as WDW. i left the part, it was beautiful, warm and sunny that day. i headed to the train station (RER) (gare de Marne la Vallee Chessy) i bought the wrong tickets instead of buying train tickets, i bought bus tickets, it was in a machine, so i didn't know, so i had to wait for the bus to Val d'Europe that was coming only at 1:42, arriving there at 2:15, so i waited, it was really funny there to see the military patrolling the bus depot at DLP with their big machine guns. the bus was late, it came at 1:52 and i arrived at Val d'Europe at 2:25.

There i looked at all the shops in Val d'Europe and Vallee Village. i bought a top at H & M then at 4 i got a small gelato at Italiano Gelato, then i bought some make up at Yves Rocher, then i bought a box of a dozen macarons (meringues cookies in assorted flavors) at Paul. i headed for the bus stop. i waited for the bus at 5:50, it came at 5:55 and arrived at DLP at 6:40, it took a long time as the bus was quite busy.

i walked to Newport Bay Club hotel for dinner at Cape Cod (buffet). i got seated at 7. i had for dinner: salads, 1/2 slice chicken, 1/2 egg, salmon, shrimps, vegetables, pasta, rice with nuts, chocolate crumble, berry tart, pear tart, fruit ice cream bar. i got out of the restaurant at 7:55, again i ate too much. i walked back to disney village, looked at shops, picked up my purchases from this morning, my feet were killing me and i knew i gained weight with all these buffet meals, i rested a bit because my feet were so sore, i headed to the bus stop. the bus was there. i took it at 9:35. i was so tired. i got to the hotel at 9:40. i asked for a wake up call for tomorrow, went to my room, fixed my things, watched a bit of TV and went to bed at 10:45

I got up at 7:20, showered, went for breakfast at 7:45 (OJ, one coffee, 2 cafe au lait, melon, 2 containers yogurt, one container caramel flan, 2 chocolate croissants), went back to my room at 8:15 and went back to wait for the bus at 8:55. it was the first time i actually didn't need a sweater in the morning. it was very nice blue skys. i took the 9 o clock bus and arrived at the park at 9:05, went through security at 9:25. they let us in on main street at 9:30, i looked at shops then lined up for the horse drawn street car on main street at 9:40, there was a huge line up, i had to wait for the next one, unbelievable the line ups here compared to WDW at this time of the year. never had to wait for main street vehicles at WDW, at least it was beautiful and sunny that day. finally i got on it at 9:55, then went to Adventureland, at 10:10 went on indiana Jones, at 10:25 on Pirates, at 10:55 line up to get a fast pass for Big Thunder. met a lady from Texas who is a disney world planner. tell here how i view this park with pushy people in line up, don't feel the disney magic, and she totally agreed with me. in WDW people know the line up manners. there was hardly any cast members anywhere (only on the rides). at 11:10 went on Phantom Manor.

at 11:45, i lined up for Agrabah Cafe for lunch (the restaurant opens at 12), a buffet for 21.60 euros, the food was no good, WDW food is so much better than here, this restaurant really lacks vegetables choices. i had cucumbers and tomatoes, turkey brochette, chicken drumstick, potatoes, vegetable lasagna, container Danone yogurt (mures), bowl fruit, berry tart, almond cake, 2 coconut cakes) i left at 12:40 and went to Big Thunder with my fast pass, there was still a huge line up in the fast pass lane. at 1 o clock i checked out the Legend of the wild west (it was a walk through fort). i left the park at 1:15

i bought train tickets for Val d'Europe, i got on the train at 1:30. this time it took 5 mins instead of over 1/2 hour by bus. i looked at shops. bought make up at Sephora (Payot brand), i got 3 samples, i bought a t-shirt at H & M, i bought 2 silk scarves at Etam, there was this nice girl there from Quebec who worked there, she was so helpful to me, the best of my whole trip. i bought a sweater and t=shirt at Cameieu. then i bought a waffle to bring home at chucks. i left the mall at 4:30. i waited for the train to Marlne la Vallee. i was glad i came back to the mall because i did nice purchases that day. the train arrived at 4:45. i arrived at the park at 4:55. the parade was on, they had the can can girls.

at 5:10 i waited in line at Gibson Girl for ice cream. this time they had the bigger containers for the 3 scoops, so we were getting bigger scoops, i had 3 scoops: fairly nuts, chocolate macademia and brownie) it was a lot of ice cream and it was better than WDW was they had better flavors (Ben & Gerry ice cream) but the bake shop was not very good. i love the bake shop at WDW with their yummy cinnamon buns, none here. Checked out how they make the glass ornaments, they burn the glass. went to Candy Palace and bought some baking to bring back home: 2 almond cakes, 2 brownie cakes, 1 sugar waffle, then at the bake shop buy (to bring home): 2 muffins, 2 mickey hand cookies, 2 mickey brioches, 2 mickey beignets. walked around main street, checked shops, my feet were so tired, not many water fountains there, not like at WDW. there was hardly any there, i sat down a bit, i was so tired, i wrote (on main street).

at 7:05, after i rested a bit, i left the park, watched a bit of a show in Disney village, then for my last meal i headed to Sequoia Lodge, hunters Grill restaurant (buffet) at 7:35. i found that eating alone, buffets were the best as you don't have to wait for your food. i had salads, shrimps, turkey, scallop potatoes, vegetables, bowl fruit salad, container Danone fruit yogurt, apple tart, black forest cake. again i ate way too much, good thing this was my last buffet. i can't continue eating like that. i was so stuffed, i hate to be like that, that's why i don't like buffets because i eat too much but being alone, i found it was easier than table service. i got out of there at 8:30. it was still beautiful out bright, sunny and warm. i bought 5 muffins and one scone from Starbucks in Disney village to bring back home. i rested a bit in Disney village. i bought some french cigarettes Gauloises for my son, as he had asked me to buy him some as he wanted to try french cigarettes so even though i am against smoking, i did buy him some to please him. there was a drum show in disney village. i was getting really tired and my parcels were quite heavy so i headed to the bus stop at 9:35. at 9:40 i waited for the bus. i was really tired, it was late at night and it was still warm. in Edmonton it would be freezing at night (i found out when i got back that they had had a snow storm when i was gone).

by my accent, everybody here knew i was from Quebec (i spoke french the whole time i was there). the bus arrived at 9:50. i got to the hotel at 9:55. i asked for a waked up call for 5:30 and my box breakfast for 6. i went to my room and packed. i went to bed at 11:15

Saturday, June 5, 2010 DLP - Edmonton

i got up at 5:30, showered, went to pick up my box breakfast at 6 at the desk. it contained a an OJ, a container yogurt, an orange (which i left at the hotel), 2 small croissants, a chocolate croissant, an apple sauce, 1 jam, 1 nutella. have the juice and yogurt now. i was so so tired. at 6:25 i checked out at the front desk and took the 6:35 bus to disney. arrived at 6:45. i walked around the train station. the airport bus was at 7:35. i sat down at the train station people watch. decide to take the train instead of the bus as it's cheaper 15.90 euros instead of 18 euros, faster 10 mins instead of 1 hour and it was coming earlier 7:27 instead of 7:35. i bought my ticket. this train was so quiet. i had never been on a quiet train like that before, you don't even feel the tracks. i arrived at Charles de Gaulles at 7:38. This airport is huge and huge, i walked and walked. i have never seen an airport so big even in LA or Orlando. Finally at 8:10 i lined up to check in. Finally went through check in at 8:40. i walked around looking for a starbucks but there were none there. i needed a coffee bad. i had a huge headache and felt really tired so at 9:05 i bought a cappucino at 140.bar at the airport and ate my croissants from the hotel. i was feeling really sick with a headache and deep tiredness, i guess i had been up for 4 hours without a coffee.

i looked at shops and walked around. i was starting to feel better nw that i had a coffee. i bought at duty free shop an Eiffel tower bottle of brandy for my son, a bottle of white wine for my son and i, as he had asked me to bring back some french wine and a box of Godiva biscuits. Also i bought with the rest of my euro change a package of Baklsen cookies in a store there. Line up to board the plane at 10:50. i was so tired, my feet were sore. i needed another coffee. i got on the plane at 11. the plane left at 11:20. they served lunch (pasta salad, bun, chicken, rice, vegetables, small bottle white wine, fruit oat cookie, 4 coffees. i watched movies: "Edge of darkness", "Dear John", "Brooklyn's finest" in the afternoon they gave us a snack: small bag corn chips. i filled out the custom form then they served a snack for supper: lamb pastry and can sprite. there was 6 hours difference between Paris and Toronto. i arrived in Toronto at 1pm local time (7pm Paris time). it was going to be a long day for me. went through customs, i had to pick up my luggage and re-checked them in, as i had to go through customs here. it was pretty fast to go through customs

at 1:45 i went to my gate then i had to go through security and they wouldn't let me take my wine even though i bought it in the duty free shop in Paris and it was sealed. another man was in the same position as me. we went to Air Canada counter. the man said we didn't blow up the plane over the Atlantic but they won't let us take it with us now. The Air Canada supervisor goes to talk to security supervisor but still they wouldn't. I have been all over the world and never had problems anywhere but in Canada. The Air Canada supervisor put our bottles in boxes with wrapping plastic to check them in. she agreed that it was completely stupid that they didn't let us take them, she said that it was ridiculous. i had to go through security again. my last trip i had problems with security in Canada too where they counted all my purchases that i had made in the States to see i hadn't passed my limit! i then walked to my gate. at 2:30 i had a yogurt parfait and frappucino at Starbucks. i walked around as i had been sitting for so long. the flight was 7 hours 50 mins. and my next flight would be 4 hours. i talked to 2 ladies from Alberta who told me it had been snowing there. i hate Edmonton. Everytime i come back, it's a nightmare to me. Finally line up to go on the plane at 3:20, not that i want to. i would even prefer living in Toronto than Edmonton.

The plane left at 3:40. there was a nice girl from Korea sitting next to me who was studying at McGill in Montreal and loved Disney so we talked for most of the trip. i had a can of sprite, they didn't serve anything but beverages. i tried to rest buy couldn't. i arrived in Edmonton at 5:40pm local time (2 hours difference with Toronto, 8 hours difference with Paris, so for me it was really 1:40am) pick up my luggage and box (wine). i waited for the shuttle at 6:10, it was funny in the shuttle there was a family who was just coming back from Disneyland California and they were complaining of the cold in Edmonton because it had been so hot there and i was also complaining of the cold in Edmonton because Paris was so much hotter) got my car at 6:20, paid for parking and drove home. i was so tired. i got home, unpacked, called my son, he came by (he was on his way to go see friends) gave him the cigarettes and key chains and showed him the brandy, wine and swiss chocolates. Amanda called and came back home. i went to bed at 9pm (5 am Paris time) i was exhausted. i had been up for 24 hours.

i felt like i should ad that i don't think that i will write another trip report, as i feel like it is a lot of work and i don't feel that too many people are reading it, so i am just questioning if it's worth to write it.
