Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I have an update. We may be getting in another Theme Park Day before we go to Disney. After checking The Imagination Mover's website for upcoming shows, they are performing the day DMil, DFil, DSil, & new DBil will be in New Orleans at Jazzfest, but we learned they will be performing at Hershey Park which is a short 2.5 hours from us. I did ask DSil to get a pic of them for Skyler at Jazzfest if she saw them, but I think Erick needs to spend a Sunday with Skyler & I to head to Hershey Park for either a day or go for Sunset Admission just for us to see them perform(have I mentioned Skyler is spoiled?his mommy loves him that much.) and hit Hershey World for the Factory Ride and to buy some chocolate to bring home and share. If I haven't mentioned how much Skyler loves te Imagination Movers, Erick & I love them too. Their music is very catchy, they don't put us to sleep at all(not like when my brother used to force me to watch Barney with him), they are very enjoyable for adults & children alike, and Erick loves that they are from his home area of New Orleans! It will special to take Skyler to see them live, even if it is a couple of hours away. The only downside is it is on a Sunday and Erick is working the following day, but Skyler is worth it in my book
and Erick knows it will put a smile on his face.

Erick doesn't ride roller coasters, so I am solo on that or will skip them to ride the rides all 3 of us can enjoy together. Hopefully Skyler is tall enough for some different rides than he rode the last time, however I know we all enjoyed The Kissing Tower ride(it is very slow and gives you a nice arial view of
Hershey Park. Hopefully I remember to take enough pictures to post and can have a mini-TR for that day.

I know I had mentioned I was going to rent a Child GPS device for Skyler for our trip. I accidentally stumbled upon it googling them, and I have to say this one should be my safety net with Skyler. Here is a direct link for it if anyone else is interested in using it. I'm sure this could also help someone traveling to Disney or elsewhere with someone with Autism or Alzheimers. Rent a GPS Location Devices :: sentryGPSid™. The price is great to rent them(a lot more to buy one since you have to sign up for a yearly activation). For a week, it's only $5 and change(great value for one of these) per day and if Skyler does get away from me, even with the helpful CMs Disney has, I can track him in seconds.

All caught up! I think I brough 2-3 pairs of shoes for Dylan on our trips - tennies, crocs,a nd in the summer sandals. Dylan loves shoes so he doesn't try to take them off - he's the opposite, you have to wait until pj's go on to take them off.
Sounds like you got a great stroller. I'm looking into the Sit N Stand LX (on sale at Target this week) for when the new baby comes, so Dylan can stand or sit if need be.
It sounds like things are coming along nicely.

Thank you so much Kelly. You're so lucky Dylan loves having his shoes on. I wish Skyler would keep his on. I guess he associates being outside of our home with being inside our home(no shoes, socks are optional). He's weird though he likes wearing my flip flops, and high heels(they're not that high, an inch or 2 and have wider heels on them)around the house(weird I know, but whatever floats his boat) around the house.

I almost thought of getting Skyler a Sit & Stand Stroller, but thought we aren't
going to need that for another 2-3 years when we're ready for another baby around. Joovy's Caboose Sit & Stand Stroller is actually kind of similar. I actually saw the stroller you are planning to get. It looks nice. I hope you love yours when you get it.

Thank you. I hope my plans don't dissappoint me.

More Updates, I am too excited to share them:)!

If I haven't mentioned how much I love my husband, well he has no idea how much I love him right now, but will when he comes home from work. He still thinks our trip is too short, and wants me to extend it(not the Disney part) and spend some time with my mom. He has changed Skyler's and my flight reservations yet again so we fly to either Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach(both close to my mom). He told me while he was at work that since we are going to Florida we might as well and he is more than happy to have us out of the house longer to see her.

So now how are we getting to Disney and back from Disney? We're renting a car from West Palm(I'll bring our GPS & one of our 2 car seats for Skyler) and drive up early in the morning on the 26th. We are going to drop it off wen we get there too or now see what the rate is to keep it for a few days. We are planning to spend the weekend with mom(and hopefully she will come to Disney with us if she can). We are now going to enjoy a full last day at AK and drive back to Mom's and leave from West Palm Beach.

I also called Disney Reservations today to call about the Free Dining, and didn't even know this but she was going to give it to us without a pin code. She actually got me to upgrade our Basic Dining Plan and go to Deluxe(only $50 more than our trip was with paying for Basic Dining). I kinda couldn't pass that up, so we have more ADRs planne too!

I will have to repose our whole dining schedule, however we are eating now at(drum roll please)...

Day 1-Tony's Town Square(Lunch)
Day 1- Crystal Palace(Dinner)
Day 2- Play 'n Dine at Hollywood & Vine(Lunch)
Day 2- 50's Prime Time Cafe'(Dinner)
Day 3-Liberty Tree Tavern(Lunch)
Day 3- Chef Mickey's(Dinner)
Day 4- Donald's Sunrise Safari @ Tusker House(Breakfast)
Day 4- Yak & Yeti(Dinner)

I know we each have one more credit which I'm debating if it will be CS(I'm leaning toward it) and the other 2 days we may use snack credits for breakfast or OOP, or brought with. Since we'll be with Mom, Publix is close by for me to pick up breakfast items, snacks, drinks, and any of that stuff to bring in the car! Yay now I can carry a case or a 12 pack of bottled water too and not worry about it in my luggage.

I had the most helpful CMs (Georgia with Reservations & Lourdes with Dining) on the phone that just helped make it a sinch for having our trip planned. Georgia even made sure to put Toy Story as our Preferred Building, but also knew 101 Dalmations & Fantasia would be great too.

Skyler told his Papa(DFil) tonight to start thinking of his favorite Disney Character(he has no clue who it is) so we could bring him back something
special. Skyler's Mimi(DMil) was asking him if he was going to see or eat with
Mickey, Pooh & Piglet. She also asked him if he was going to call Mickey,
Minnie, & Goofy "FiFi".

How great that you get to spend that time with your mum. That's a beautiful part of Florida.

Thank you so much Cheryl! I am looking very much foward to it. Erick knows how much I love my mom and how a trip to Florida just wouldn't be the same for me not to see her. It would even be a year since we had last seen her, so I know she'll need her small dose of us while we're there.

I somehow missed when you listed what dates you will be there until just now. When do you arrive on the 26th? We plan on spending part of our day in MK, and we don't leave until the evening. I think it would be wonderful if we ran into you!

I am so sorry, my phone isn't letting me quote anyone but my own posts right now(odd).

Jessie- Since we're now driving to WDW we're aiming for being tre by the time MK Opens(at least getting to ASMv by 8am(depending on traffic from the Florida Turnpike) and getting the car returned.

That would be so wonderful to say hello to you while you're still there! I think our lunch time is at 11:30 and dinner is in the 5-6 pm range, so we can figure out a place and time to meet up! Looking foward to meeting you in the MK.

Marnie- Thank you so much! I am
so excited to trying all of these restaurants(Tony's is the only Oldie on the list
since we ate there my last trip). Thank you, I am looking fowar to time with my mom.

Kelly- Thank you so much! I was so excited when the sweet CM Georgia mentioned the Free Dining(and the upgrade for Deluxe wasn't more at all than what I had priced out online for the trip). Erick is defanitely a keeper. He absolutely loves my mom, so he had no complaints about letting us go to see her. Plus she made a huge effort and came out here twice last year(only for a handful of days each trip), but it was nice time spent with her. He does know how close my mom & I are (I'm a total Mommy's Girl still), so if she gets to see us down by her this year instead of making her travel, it will still be time with mom.

Melissa- No worries about the Internet being down. Thank you so much. I am looking so foward to trying out all the restaurants I made our ADRs at. Not to mention taking lots of food pictures too! At least Skyler won't know why mommy is snapping a picture of his meals! I agree with you Husbands are wonderful at times. Erick is really making me want to stuff him in our suitcase and bring him along wih us, or deserve something extra special right now( possibly tickets to see the Saints play the Ravens, which I know he wants to see that game).
