A Maria and Ben “Mousefest” TR: The Greatest Gift of All Update Finished 5/3 - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So, we never did get to rip that Holiday Cocktails Mix CD, which makes me sad, because the only thing I love more than alcohol is Christmas songs, and boozy Christmas songs make the world seem like it's beautiful again. If you could actually email me the playlist itself, I'm sure I can recreate the mix myself.
I don't know why Ben would think we'd kill him for being late (maybe it's because I threatened him on Facebook to cut his legs off if we had to wait one minute more than the amount of time it takes to unload our luggage ). But in all seriousness, running into you at the airport was absolutely perfect. And Ben certainly snapped out of his crankster mood as soon as we made a magical trip to Hess!

Back in October Ben and I visited Molly, Travis and Joey at the OKW for a night of drinks and fun... we arrived at 10 PM so we weren’t able to see the resort because it was so dark.
It was nice to see the resort in the light of day. I really love it!
Molly checked us in and soon we were heading to our room which was really close to the lobby/pool/food area of the resort.
Molly had reserved a 2 bedroom villa. We entered into the room and we were in a studio …huh…we went to the connecting door locked…huh…something is not right.
Molly went outside to the room over and her key worked to open that room which opened up onto the rest of the villa…
Molly let Ben and I take the master bedroom which was nice…we have queen size bed at home so a king bed is a nice treat.
The Villa was really big and very nice. I can see it being really nice to stay in for a week or more …it feels very homey. But like the Dream Girls we were there for “One night only”…Ben says no one will get a Dream Girls reference but whatever…
The Joey And Maria Show
Ben made himself at home right away and made some coffee. We went out onto the main porch and had our coffee…(not knowing we were in the presence of terror and horror...more on that later)...the temperatures were starting to drop and our stomachs were starting to growl.
In no time flat we were off to DTD for some nourishment. Ben kept his cool trying to find a parking place and soon we were trying to decide between the Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express. I had not been to the EOS in 4 year and was excited to eat there again.
I was thrilled to finally try the holiday sandwich…it was all I thought it would be and more…my only complaint is that I wanted more cranberries. ..but the stuffing was excellent.
Sleeve of sandwiches!
Molly and Joey had the holiday as well.
Ben had the original and he loved it…this is the same things he had four years ago and every time he has eaten at the EOS…the boy knows what he likes.
After gobbling down some yummy sandwiches we headed out to do some shopping.
I was able to go to TrenD for the first time…this store is amazing. I wanted so many things but Ben and I agreed no souvenirs this trip…booo!
We also went to the WoD, the Christmas store and the Art of Disney store…we looked at some of Jim Shores creations which I think are so neat.I know Molly bought one to have signed for her mom who is a fan…and I think Joey may have bought one later in the trip.
We also went to Pin traders.
DTD was fun but it was time for some fun back at the OKW…but first a quick trip to the Hess for some beer.
Three things:
(1) The Hess by DTD smells disgusting
(2) The smells jumps onto your clothes and body and won’t let go
(3) The beer kind of tastes like the smell
Next up….A frightful surprise!!!
**Some of these pictures are Molly's. Thnx for sharing!***

They sound like so much fun. I cant wait to hear about your adventures in DTD and what you thought of OKW
(1) I love Gossip Girl …it really silly but the fashion is amazing.
(2) The CD never helped to get Ben to distress but it helped me to ignore his crabbiness
(3) Molly and Joey are the best!!!

The hair is red, Heather! (Ignore the airport/I slept in my clothes from last night at the bar greasy sheen it has to it!) Every time I try to do anything different with my hair, about 6 months later, I always go back to red. Currently, it's black as can be, with red highlights.
Maria, when I was showing Trav our pictures last night, and I saw the empty coffee cup sitting on the table, I almost threw up because it was THEN I remembered that we were all just hangin' out on the porch, unaware that evil was lurking nearby. And of course, we were all too afraid afterward to go out and retrieve it. I hope Mousekeeping enjoyed that little treat!
Great first day, but I don't if I could ever go and not buy any souvenirs. I love the Jim Shore Disney figures! I have Mickey and Minnie building a snowman and Goofy as an elf that I bought at WDW.
