Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

OH MY!! You have me laughing so hard at your TR. I was there at the same time with middle nephew,Sam & looked for you. But the world was tooo big that week.
Love the comments about the Roasted Chestnuts. You know, I have come to think that the song glamorizes them into making us think that they are a wonderful treat.
( though there is no song for the turkey leg & I think that is gross too) But the one and only time I tried Roasted Chestnuts , I thought they were yuck. Glad to know its not just me. I think Karen got some kind of Magical Dream Thing going that started with her taking all her Airport issues in stride & then having them turn to gold., hence getting an upgrade to concierge
Can't wait to hear more Trip reports from all the CLT
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Day One, Part Two
The Most Amazing View EVER!

We headed to find our room. I forget why, but Karen went ahead of us and Eileen and I were lagging behind. Suddenly, Karen came back out and told us to hurry because we just had to see our view.

We stepped into the room and headed directly to the balcony and were greeted with this…

We stood there with our mouths hanging open for a while. It was so beautiful we couldn’t believe it.

It was then that we decided to scrap our plans for the evening so we could watch Wishes from the GF. Karen called for our luggage (and besmirched my good name in the process ). The luggage CM called the room and Karen, thinking it was Dawn or Tiff, answered the phone “Kitty.” The poor confused CM asked if it was Ms. Stevenson (me) and Karen (not me) answered yes.

We needed Eileen’s 37 suitcases, and our carry on stuff that we’d stowed earlier. I didn’t note when my luggage arrived from DME, but something tells me it was later in the evening than this. Karen’s luggage was still lost somewhere between San Francisco and Orlando (or possibly in Portland, OR, which is not between San Fran and Orlando at all).

While we waited for our luggage, I finally came out of my castle-trance and snapped a couple of pics of the room.

Eileen needed to use the bathroom, and I heard her making noises shortly after she went in there. Heh heh heh. Nothing like a little potty humor to start off your day. When she came out, she told us there was the most amazing TP art in there (hence the noises) and she’d recreated it because we needed to see it. I took a photo to share with our PP pals.

I didn’t say so at the time, but I’m sure the Mousekeeper did it better

And with this, I hereby declare myself the Queen of Geeky Photos. I can almost guarantee that you won’t find any TP shots in any other TR.

After a few minutes, Jerry came up with the luggage, probably looking to hook up with Kitty. Jerry was quite chatty, and he talked and talked and talked. He especially liked Karen (probably figured out she was “Kitty”). Jerry told us all about himself, how long he’d been at the GF, how he and his girlfriend were complete opposites. Did I mention he really liked Karen? She kept trying to hand him his tip, but he kept talking. About everything you can think of. For instance, his girlfriend can’t handle just going out for a drink with Pat and Chris on the spur of the moment. I think he was trying to convince himself he had a good reason to break up with his girlfriend for Karen.

About 20 minutes later (seriously), she was finally able to give him the tip and send him on his way. By the way, this was only the first time Karen nearly broke up a previously happy relationship.

As we headed to the concierge lounge, we pondered how many irate guests were impatiently tapping their feet waiting for their luggage to be delivered while Jerry was macking on Karen.

We knew Lesley (WDWfan) and Mitzi, her DMIL, were having tea about then, so we headed down to see if we could spot them. I saw them in the restaurant and we popped in to say hello and invited them to check out the view from our room when they were done.

Then we checked out the gingerbread house in the lobby, where we found a bunch of Hidden Mickeys.

I loved the upholstery pattern

We wandered around the GF for a while, eventually finding our way to a spot on the beach where Kitty – I mean Karen made herself comfortable.

Eileen and I joined her (with much grumbling from Eileen over getting sand in her shoes ). We sat there for a while, just talking and enjoying the view. We had a great view of a hammock and we got some fine entertainment watching people carefully climb in and out of it. One man wasn’t so careful and managed to dump himself onto the sand almost in slow motion, which cracked the three of us up.

We headed back inside and hit the concierge lounge again. The view from there was nice, but the one from our room was better. From the lounge you could also see the Poly and Spaceship Earth. I caught up on my notes and Eileen mocked me for my tiny notebook and pen (though I know she was secretly jealous ). It was around this time that I snapped a photo of this cool HM in the carpet.

There were even cooler ones – Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald, which I spotted later, but Eileen has the pictures of those.

Once Lesley and Mitzi were done with their tea, they joined us. Dawn and Tiff had an ADR at 1900 Park Fare, but since Karen and Eileen had snagged with the help of Dan or Don in concierge (which one was the GF one Eileen?) an ADR for 5 at 1900 Park Fare, so we invited Tiff & Dawn to join us and they canceled their ADR. Karen went to go find them and brought them up as well. We were able to watch the castle lights go on (can I say how absolutely gorgeous they were?), then we just hung out for a while longer. I snapped a couple more pictures, too.

After a while, Lesley got a call that Terri was on her way into the MK, so she and Mitzi headed out. We said goodbye to Mitzi since she was heading home. The rest of us hung out a bit more, then wandered down to enjoy our dinner.

We checked in and had a seat outside, where I got a great shot of the Mary Poppins topiary.

We were all looking forward to having some fun with Cinderella’s step family (the heck with Cinderella and her prince ). We were seated in a little room (I guess we looked like troublemakers) and soon the fun began.

We were visited first by Anastasia, who was a riot!! She told us all about how lousy a Prince Prince Charming is, and now that she’s pointed it out, I must agree. While Prince Eric and Prince Philip are fighting sea monsters and dragons and stuff for their princesses, all that lazy Charming does is reach out and say “Don’t go.” He doesn’t even make a real effort to run after her. Harrumph!

Here’s a shot of me and Anastasia

When she visited a table a couple down from us, she had a discussion with a little girl who was dressed in a Cinderella costume. She said “You have the same color hair as Cinderella. But Cinderella dyes hers.” Now everyone knows.

Next came Cinderella, and the CLT whipped out our princess poses.

Except, someone didn’t get the memo. Sheesh!

Drizella visited next, and she posed with Dawn and Tiff.

And then with the CLT

Looks like we all got a different memo here. But I love Eileen’s expression.

When Lady Tremaine came to pose, some random dude tried to get in the picture with us. We shooed him off and Lady Tremaine said “That was odd,” in the most hilarious way. We got a picture without some random crazy dude in it.

When Charming finally showed up, Lady Tremaine and Drizella were still in the room. Drizella ran over to him and grabbed his hand and batted her eyes at him, while Lady Tremaine reminded her to “Gaze into his eyes.” It didn’t work on him, though. He decided he’d rather pose with the CLT.

I think it was this time that we heard Anastasia “singing” happy birthday to a guest in the main room (imagine the movie, but screechier and louder). Her sister climbed up on a chair and joined in the caterwauling.

When Anastasia came back into our room, Karen mentioned that all our birthdays were within a month or so of our trip and asked if she would sing to us. Anastasia told us we should’ve lied to get the free cake like everyone else does. She goes “I say to people ‘Happy Birthday’ and they say ‘My birthday was in August.’ They just want the free cake. Lies and deceit! That’s what this kingdom is built on!”

Of course we were all practically rolling on the floor at this, and it was the inspiration for Karen’s TR title. When she finally left us, Anastasia reminded us to lie next time so we could get the free cake. The stepsisters were the funniest characters I’ve ever encountered, especially when they saw that we were willing to play along. I’m so glad Eileen and Karen managed to snag this ADR for us.

Unfortunately, dinner took too long for us to catch Wishes, so we decided to head back to the concierge lounge, figuring we’d get a pretty good view of Illuminations from there. While we were chatting, we got the good news that Karen’s luggage had arrived and would be delivered to the room.

We grabbed a table in the kids’ section to watch Illuminations. There were three kids sitting next to us, and when they’d get the slightest bit noisy, the mom would come over and shush them. The second time it happened, one of the boys tattled that one of the other kids said “poopypants” which completely set Karen off. The rest of us thought it was hilarious too (the Karen “poopypants” meltdown, not the “poopypants” itself). I can’t say whether or not alcohol consumption contributed to the “poopypants” meltdown, so I’ll leave that for Karen to say. I just like writing “poopypants.” Heh. Can I say “poopypants” on a family board? Oh well, too late now. Poopypants.

We were all ready to turn in, so Dawn and Tiff headed back to Saratoga Springs and the CLT headed back to our Room With a View.

I actually pondered sitting up all night and staring at the castle, but after resting my head on the pillow, that idea was out the window (no pun intended).

Up Next: I’m a Celebrity!

HI-LAR-IOUS! I laughed out loud to myself over "poopypants" and the girl at the desk in front of me had to turn around to see what was going on back here. I don't know what was funnier - Jerry or "poopypants".

It was probably so she could get into her Miss Kitty costume for Jerry the bellhop.

Seriously... mouth hanging open for at least ten minutes straight. Then there was much sighing and a little more open-mouthed gaping. Then I texted Crystal (crystalloubear) to see if *she* had pulled some strings at her fav resort. Then more time with my chin on the floor. Then we sat down on the chairs on the extra long balcony we had. (Our room was adjacent to the Walt Disney Suite so we had what would've been their balcony too -- if they didn't have a wicked awesome balcony all their own... ) We finished this up with time spent sitting on the ends of the beds, looking out at the castle with our mouths hanging open.

That *was* hysterical. Her embarrassment when she realized it wasn't Tiff or Dawn was priceless. Although, I must say that it was a weird assumption to make that they'd call our room rather than call our cell phones. What was she thinking?!

Four... FOUR pieces of luggage!! Two suitcases that I'd packed the night before and the two carryons that I'd stuffed my get-ready-this-morning items into. Sheesh... I *was* at The World for 11 days, my dear!

Sharon gave me fair warning that she would use this (my squeals of delight upon seeing the special TP fan) against me in the TR. Even so... ... HARRUMPH!!

I'm suprised you didn't take pics of all the incredible soaps and lotions and creams the GF supplies to guests. Or had Karen already stuffed them ALL into her luggage before you got your camera out?

OMGosh... that was both annoying and hilarious, all at the same time. At first, I thought he was great -- kinda cute, tall and slim, very outgoing. Then I realized just *how* outgoing he was when he talked and talked and talked and talked. Poor Karen tried not to swoon under his adoring gaze, all the while making furtive attempts to hand him his tip. He kept pretending not to see this obvious attempt at her trying to shoo him from the room. Finally, I said something about not wanting to miss the free food in the concierge lounge -- and made sure to look very hungry.

Trouble was, Jerry thought this was a great way to see Karen in motion! He followed us down the hallway (pushing his little bellhop cart) and resisted all attempts at shaking him. Even as Sharon and I were cramming platefuls of food together and trying to balance drinks, he was still talking to us. (Karen had wisely pretended to take pictures at the windows so she'd put a bit of distance between Jerry and herself.) Jerry even introduced us to one of the concierge staffmembers and told her to take very good care of us. Finally, he could delay no longer -- as there was quite a murmur of discontent filtering up from the Bell Services area in the lobby below! The elevator doors closed behind him and Sharon and I carefully tried to disguise our giggles from Jerry's concierge friend as we made our way over to Karen and a lovely little table at which to dine.

Oh, and YUMMY! The food was delish!

The sun was just beginning to go down and we spent considerable mental power trying to figure out where the sun would rise the next morning -- hoping that it would come up near the castle!

Oooh, yeah... the beach. that was gorgeous!! There was a young family getting their photosession done on the beach. Very cute.

In my defense (yeah... and WHY do I say that phrase so much when I'm traveling with Karen and Sharon? Why are they my friends again?!) .....

Ahem.... In my defense... ..., I had on Crocs and the cold sand was getting right into them!

Totall guffaw at the gent who did a faceplant in the sand after being none-too-graceful in the hammock! Then, his wife showed him up by not only climbing in gracefully, but also managing to pull up both kids into the hammock with her.

We applauded both the faceplant and the wife!!

We got a picture at the GF tree in the lobby, but I don't have my PhotoPass CD yet.

The Gingerbread House is awesome once again, but I noticed a new feature -- they send up smoke out of the chimney that smells delightfull .

Okay... wait! You folks need to know that this "notebook" was about the size of a postage stamp and about as thick as a pack of gum. The "pen" was the same size. And bright day-glo orange. Seriously, with Sharon's long beautiful fingers topped with long beautiful nails, you couldn't see the "notebook" or the "pen" whenever she used it. I think she fit all of three words per page....

Such funny stuff P-Sha! You captured it all purr-fectly. Ah Jerry... and he met me the day after a red-eye without the benefit of showers, lotions, potions, and hair fixin'. God help his girlfriend if he would have seen me later in the trip when my hair was looking FAB-U-LOUS!

Poopypants still cracks me up. Those kids were my favorite. But I contend that it was being up for 36 straight hours that was bringing on the giggles, not the big honkin' glass of red wine that I obviously drank. Thanks for providing photographic evidence Eileen! Can't wait for more!
